ROB ZOMBIE CAN BE PROUD: HALLOWEEN 2 MAKES IT THROUGH WITH AN 'R' RATING FROM THE MPAA..
Dan Glickman may step down in May 2010, but not before he headed the MPAA that let the new brutal Michael Myers slasher flick ease through with a tame "R" for your summertime viewing pleasure..
Previews showcased on YouTube and various horror sites picture an ultra-violent, twisted view of how the Michael Myers saga should continue..
In the original sequel, Debra Hill and John Carpenter continued the film on the same night in a hospital where Laurie Strode had to continue to escape the Shape..
Now, spoilers being released online describe a much more HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES-type sequel from Zombie, famous for pushing the envelope of horror in the modern era..
Some comments on DeadCentral.com illustrate reader anger over the direction the film appears to take Michael Myers..
Zombie told BLOODY DISGUSTING, "On the first movie, the movie was two movies. It was young Michael, which I felt you got to sink into more, and then it was Haddonfield, which we had to race through, and you really didn’t get to know the characters. So this time, I was like 'Let’s really overdo it on character stuff, so we have enough"
ZOMBIE went on to tell the horror site, "We got our R-rating. Shocking how easy we got it. They are just not worried about violence right now I guess. It was unbelievable. I also think that because it’s Michael Myers, that makes it easier. They go 'Oh it’s one of those Michael Myers monster movie things.' I was shocked"
Horror 20th century vs the 21st: HALLOWEEN 2 in 1981 was rated R for "Violence, adult situations, strong language" .. HALLOWEEN modern day: "Strong brutal bloody violence throughout, terror, disturbing graphic images, language, some crude sexual content, and nudity". But still an "r" nonetheless..
While clashes with the MPAA had been rumored, the film skated through. As Zombie said, "shocking how easy it was."
HALLOWEEN 2 2009 is scheduled for release August 28 ..
