The evolving drone wars: How Obama redefined 'civilian'

Yesterday Earth Informer reported about the New York TIMES story on President Obama and how he has a secret kill list. Today, we offer this food for thought on the ever changing definitions of 'combatants' and 'civilians' in the new drone wars taking place across the world: Yet another report describes an upcoming book written by Daniel Klaidman, KILL OR CAPTURE, and reveals how the President dealt with civilians casualties from his earliest days in office.
President Obama wanted to dissuade detractors and critics, plus limit the impact that drone strikes could have on his Administration. Early in his term, a drone strike killed woman and children in Pakistan. Even though it appeared he aggressively asked what the procedures were for defining targets, all reports indicate that he not only continued the practice of drone strikes but also broadened how the U.S. would define 'civilian.'

GOOGLE PURPOSELY STOLE PRIVATE INFORMATION FOR YEARS AND COVERED IT UP

This news comes from across the pond—but if it is happening in the UK why would it not be happening in the US of A?According to the reports circulating, Google purposely used Street View cars to steal personal information from people in Britain for years, and then they covered it up for years. The accusations are that Google deliberately harvested private data on British citizens for years. According to the report, they downloaded photographs and emails, documents, and messages. The Street View cars collected as they drove. A private company spying. Interesting. Because if you paint the picture just a little differently, it could mean even war! Think if foreign spies for another nation were driving around America stealing your data? Imagine if, say, North Korea had cars to do it. Or maybe a Chinese car.. with the Chinese flag. Driving around and spying on you! It would mean war. The government would condemn. The media would go headline-crazy.  But in this situation, when a private company…

A must read from the New York TIMES on Obama's kill list

President Richard Nixon was heavily criticized in media and pop culture in the 1970s when news broke that he had a secret enemy's list. Who was on it? Journalists.. religious leaders.. maybe sometimes even his own staff and people within his own Administration.
Fast forward to the challenging post-9/11 world: President Obama scrapped the enemy's list and replaced it with a secret "kill list."
The New York TIMES reports on the list, and the "test of Obama's principles and will" ..
There is a fascinating glimpse from the TIMES on President Obama and how evolution: From the chatter of anti-Patriot Act and anti-war in the Senate, to a hawk in office, a killer of Osama Bin Laden, and the man who approves lethal action and doesn't look back. The money quote: In interviews with The New York Times, three dozen of his current and former advisers described Mr. Obama’s evolution since taking on the role, without precedent in presidential history, of personally ov…

Strong start to hurricane season

It snowed in October--before winter.
It was near 90 across much of the nation in March--before spring.
We just saw the strongest tropical cyclone to hit the United States before June 1--Beryl.

... harbingers of things to come?
Earth changes?
Or should we just adjust the calenders... ?

Are you glowing or is your tuna just happy to see me?

Finally confirmation of what alternative media has been reporting for a year.. sadly the alternative media was right all along.

And you thought wind and fire were the strongest elements of Earth! Think again.
It may simply be FISH!
According to new research (research conducted of course in August of last year, but officially we are just hearing about it this year) "low levels" of radiation from Fukushima have turned up in bluefin tuna along the California coast. Remember, these levels were higher than normal and they were in schools of swimming tuna just months after the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear nightmare--fish swimming fast and bringing radiation to San Diego faster than water .. faster than the debris from the tsunami.
The Reuters story goes on to describe whether there is danger.. even describing how cesium levels decrease after two years.
But food for thought: Radioactive tuna (low levels!!) were swimming near California four months after the Fukushima nucle…

Constant shaking in Italy

A tale of many Syria headlines

A tale of many Syria headlines

Do not lose the meaning of Memorial Day

In the middle if your beer, or barbecue, or party, remember that Memorial Day is perhaps the most solemn of national holidays.
It is one to contemplate the decorations of the post-Civil War days and recall the casualties of the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers that died during battle.
We should also give pause to one thought: If you do end up going to a 21 gun salute somewhere in America, how do we strive to be slow to go to war and quick to try peace?
How can we in such a turbulent world?
Syria kills children with pacifiers in their mouths.. Drones strike in Pakistan.. Oh, and drones will patrol America, too.
But I digress.
Memorial Day 2012. Do not let this holiday lose the meaning it is intended to have. Do now cheapen it with a useless day of nothingness. Do not..
But here is the sneaking fear that scares me.. in 1945, the big picture was clear: We stopped a tyrant who was killing millions. Ever since then things got murky. And in Iraq and Afghanistan…? Well do we even know…

All the trouble in the world: Syria

The world watches in shock at the horror developing in Houla, a suburb of Homs..
CNN reported this disturbing quote:
"By God, I washed the dead bodies of nine children. One was less than nine months old!" a man screamed to a U.N. observer. "Why are they treating us like animals? We are humans. Did the infant carry an RPG? Was he a fighter? It was a baby, he had a pacifier in his mouth."A pacifier in his mouth.. and now dead. A corpse. Someone who didn't make it past even the first year on this pale blue dot.

Maybe it's not even worth asking, but will there be any future generation, or even civilization, that figures out a way to live together without forcing others to leave with violence? Will we ever eradicate murder?

Or war?
Not this time.
Because there seems to be a gut feeling that these murders in Syria may lead to nothing else BUT war..

Truly disturbing details being revealed about the Miami muncher

Did the zombie apocalypse already begin?!

A fatal police shooting involving a naked man and cannibalism. Stuff of movies? No. Stuff of Memorial Day weekends in Miami? Yes, this year at least..

Details are starting to be revealed about the disturbing event today in Miami in which a naked man was chewing the face off of another naked man on a busy highway .. A bicycle rider, Larry Vega, flagged down cops.. the rest is documented by NEWS 7 in Miami:
When the attack continued, Vega says the officer fired but the man continued to chew flesh off the victim. The officer fired several more times, eventually killing the attacker.

A Miami Herald surveillance camera caught the aftermath as the two men laid side by side on the ground. "It was just a blob of blood," said Vega. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."

Rescue crews rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with missing flesh. According to a 7News source, the victim was not recognizabl…

A papal order to get the butler adhered to... Now what about that money laundering scandal anyway ..

A poisonous Pentecost Sunday for Benedict: New allegations of a conspiracy among cardinals dismissed, questions over the Vatican bank, and a unholy web of corruption ..

But here's the best:

Martini, writing in an Italian newspaper, said the pope had been "betrayed" just as Jesus was betrayed 2,000 years ago, and that the Church would have to emerge from the latest scandal cleaner and stronger.

Just as Jesus was betrayed...?
So I just want to know which Cardinal is going to give the butler the noose so he can, say.. "end it himself"...?

Who listened to John B Wells on Friday May 25 2012?

There has been a ton of criticism for the hosting style of John B. Wells on Coast to Coast AM. But I like him. Friday, he took the show into a strange direction: Palmistry. Yes it’s a real thing. And Vernon Mahabal explained all about it. I am just curious to all: Did you listen, do you like him, can he save Coast to Coast from becoming Toast? Comment on this post below, I'd love to see feedback

The butler did it!

A SCANDAL IN ROME HEATS UP.. Vatican police have arrested Pope Benedict XVI's butler for allegedly leaking confidential documents and letters detailing claims of corruption..
Already the scandal has been dubbed Vatileaks .. Some documents involve the awarding of contracts in dubious ways.. some involve management of the Vatican bank.. The Pope said to be shocked. Maybe he is just afraid we'd be shocked too?
Revealed in the documents: Power struggles, corruption The Vatican had condemned the book as 'criminal' and the printing of the documents were a violation of the Pope's privacy ..

The Pope's privacy.. the hallowed holy halls aren't private enough? .. No, we need to thicken that frock even more..

More on the 6.0 north of Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region

Italy is dealing with the aftermath of a strong quake--one stronger than any in hundreds of years. One official said the region he was from didn't see  a shake this strong since the 1300s..
Civil officials and firefighters are currently in the process of inspecting buildings that were significantly damaged by the 6.0 earthquake that slammed the region by surprise. Latest numbers in say that at least seven are now dead.. at least fifty others have been injured.
Four of the victims were killed by falling buildings according to reports on the situation. Another died of a heart attack during the earthquake.

The BBC is reporting that the earthquake was felt in full force in Bologna and Verona, but the tremor could be felt as far away as Venice and Milan.

A 15th century castle, San Felice sul Panaro, is severely damaged. An historic church Buonacompra also hit hard.
After the initial strong 6.0 jolt to the area, another significant aftershock of 5.1 hit and further damaged buildings that …
