DEADLY DERECHO, THE HURRICANE ON LAND

Really strong storms have caused deaths and the loss of power for millions.
More strong lines of storms are forming today and will hit in many of the same areas that were hit yesterday.
More on that from Accuweather. The storms have left 5 dead .. There were winds up to 90+ mph.. by the time the storms hit the Jersey coast, winds were still gusting at 80 mph-- this storm is being described a hurricane on land. A derecho. A deranged one, at that. Which is why the photo for this post of a snapshot of a page from Frank Miller’s BATMAN comic book compilation (I have the leatherbound edition safety stored away) .. in that comic,  a massive heat wave hit Gotham City. I feel like I am in that comic now.. with the absense of course of Batman, the Joker, and the Mutant Gang.  I wonder if, in Frank Miller’s world, David Endochrine is funny anymore? He sure ain’t in the real world.

Strange noises again: The earth is moaning, the earth is groaning.. San Diego again is rumbling

It has been several weeks since Earth Informer wrote about the strange noises, moans, and groans that are blanketing the planet. But tonight it seems impossible to ignore strange noises underneath one of the biggest cities in America: San Diego.
A strange sound has been reported far and wide in the city, almost in all corners ..  There were reports of very large rumbles about 12:45 PM San Diego time .. there was no earthquake activity at the time, according to stats on the USGS.
NBC San Diego reports this: The mysterious sensation was described by some people as sounding like a door slamming while others said it was strong enough to rattle windows
One report concluded it was a 'sonic rumble' under the ground..
Several people on Twitter report their houses shaking, rumbles rumbling underneath their feet, and nerves being shaken by the noises.
Could it by skyquakes? Could it be military?  Could it be something even more mysterious taking place underneath our feet? The jury is out.

Weekend box set to knock women's socks: Magic Mike without his clothes

I’m inclined to think that MAGIC MIKE will be the number one chick-flick of the weekend. Could be wrong.. The stars of this weekend’s new release MAGIC MIKE say that when they practice-stripped for women, they learned a lot about the gender they never knew.. According to Channing Tatum: Waxing in prep for the film was painful..  Reviews for the film are now trickling in.. And ain’t it just sumptin’ .. I bet most of the women you know, or if you’re a women, want to see this film this weekend or at least have made comments when seeing the poster. Perhaps the makers are on to something. Box office glory coming for male strippers? Waxed and ready. Is America?

Space: The real frontier

News from space. The wild frontier that we don’t have enough money to spend to get there anymore. Besides private companies, of course. Amazing universe: Solar tornadoes as big as the US eat up the sun’s atmosphere..and not only that, but there may be 11,000 super tornadoes on the sun’s surface! This is how solar flares can kill: A distant planet had an entire atmosphere blasted away by solar flares 60 light years away fom Earth..

Saturn’s moon Titan may have an ocean beneath its surface!

Exhumed rocks reveal that Mars water ran deep.. So much out there.. so much to learn. So much we don't know. Amazing, compelling. And it is news that makes our tiny little home on earth just seem tinier.

Ann Curry bids farewell on the TODAY show.. it's pretty clear that at this point the 4 hour extravaganza of entertainment goo, ooze, and garbage, is clear: No news is good news Truly.. she is about one of the few people with journalistic integrity that TODAY has.

Really.. if you want news you need to tune in for about the first 14 minutes. Then local weather plops itself on again.. then it’s Justin Beiber live and Katy Perry with clothes.

Now it’s Matt and Al for the duration. Who will replace her?

Kathy Lee?? If she’s sober.

'Twas the night before health care (the abridged version)

Twas the night before health care, and all through the White House, Not a staffer was stirring, Not even mouse
Eric Holder was ready to endure his censure, While visions of electoral votes danced in Obama's head. And Carney with talking points and Panetta setting a trap, Had just settled in for a eerie summer's nap.
When out in the Rose Garden there rose such a clatter! Michelle sprang from her cheesesteak to see what was the matter! Away to the window Barack flew in a flash, Tore open the shutters and hoped for campaign cash.
The Supreme Court showed up with a decision in hand, Promising to decide whether a mandate will stand.
Congress was there with a censure in plans, Holder's contempt will be the vote of the land.

A busy Thursday is coming for sure,
How much more can a White House endure!?
Now Scalia! now Roberts! now Ginsburg and Thomas, Breyer and Alito, what can you promise? Kennedy and Kagan, we may know your choice, Is Sotomayor too new to voice?
We will see in a flash on Thursday for …

Double trouble Thursday

Tomorrow promises to be politically active. Steer clear of TV news if you want to avoid talking heads and pundits endless speak about 'what it all means.'
What to expect: A contempt of Congress vote is coming in the House after talks to stall the decision on Attorney General Holder broke down today. Also on the radar: The Supreme Court, one way or another, will step into the cesspool of political talk by releasing the decision on health care--one that has been long awaited and debated.
Waiting for both to take place.. Interesting day coming..

Fear the brow: The only unibrow that matters

There are lots of people in the world with unibrows. Lots of woman desperately get rid of them. But if you're in basketball, and your claim to fame is a dramatically large unibrow that blankets your forehead, why not make the most of it: Trademark it.

Yes, indeed. While many can grow them only one matters: That is basketball star Anthony Davis'.

Indeed, he may soon be a New Orleans Hornet. But regardless of where he lands, he fears someone will try to grow their own unibrow and cash in. He said this on the trademark:
“I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it,” Davis told CNBC. “Me and my family decided to trademark it because it’s very unique.”

The smells of early autumn: Fame may spice it all up

Those summer nights. This year, the summer air and early autumn evenings will have a whole new smell, thanks for Lady Gaga's FAME, her perfume that is set to hit the market soon.
The internet has been abuzz for a year since she dropped hints on what it may smell like. She said apriocots, saffron, honey drops.. oh yes, and blood and semen too.
The fact Lady Gaga is marketing her own perfume is not news in itself. Almost all stars seem to get their own line of essence at department store prices. But Gaga's include of her own blood extract and an unknown donor's semen sample has created more than a typical buzz: Some websites are stating that it proves a demonic and even satanic element to Gaga's persona.  Natural News writes this: It could all just be one big demonic publicity stunt to market the ugly black liquid packaged in an alien-like, egg-shaped bottle held by what appear to be slender claws. But several sources confirm that Gaga literally used her own DNA to create t…

Of all the things Asbury Park would have to worry about.. this is not one

A council woman wants to do something that hasn't been done in 40 years: Enforce a ban on people walking around Asbury Park's boardwalk wearing a bathing suit--suits that even 40 years ago had more 'clad' that the semi-clad nature of skimpy swimwear these days.

Those who have been to Asbury Park may wonder why the ban would be needed. The town was once a bastion of family friendly activity and beauty.. riots, racial tension, fires, and fear led to a darker age for Asbury Park starting in the 1970s and extending even into the 21st Century.

On a trip there in 2005, I personally saw a town striving for a new identity, but sheltered on the perimeter by abandoned buildings, moss-covered relics of the past, and few people on the beach .. I don't think I recall whether I saw bathing suits or not. However there was something very interesting and historic with the area.. something that drew me in.. The sea levels may be rising, but things can get worse if your state is simultaneously sinking

According to a report commissioned by the states of California, Oregon, Washington, and several federal agencies, the state of California is going to face a two-pronged assault over the next century: Not only will sea levels increase due to earth changes, but the state of California is apparently sinking.. The report is alarming in facts, nature, and predictions. Sea levels will increase up to 5 feet by the end of the century according to the numbers. The survey finds that this will increase the likelihood of flooding and storm damage.

Another weird zombie like attack after man takes synthetic drug

Bath salts led to a horrific scene in Florida on Memorial Day when a man's face was eaten off by another man who was high on the drug. And thus began a summer of gore, violence, and zombie like attacks from sea to shining sea. The latest one, however, is not a story of dog biting man but instead man devouring dog..
According to police in Waco, Texas, 22-year-old Michael Daniel assaulted people at his home on June 14, chased a neighbor, started barking and growling like an animal--and ate the family dog. According to the report, he grabbed the animal, beat it and strangled it to death before he began to consume it.
Bath salts were the choice. Cops said he was high on K-2 when the incident occurred.

32,000 people now evacuating due to Colorado fires

Fire is driven by heat, bone dry conditions, and erratic winds.. Still no official word on how many homes were last night as fire fighters in Colorado become overwhelmed by the blaze.. Winds were at 65 MPH, and the Colorado Springs Waldo Canyon Fire took a turn for the cataclysmic.  Evacuees who were already evacuated were forced to leave again as the fire approached places many thought would stay safe..
A Boulder blaze has ignited ferociously, too..
Firefighters are battling about a dozen blazes in Colorado alone. The historic fire season is claiming homes while the progression of heat and wind continue. According to officials, no one was prepared for 65 winds last night.. the horrific fires continue to ravage lives and homes...
The Colorado wildfire now is one of 'epic proportions.'  CNN reports: Gov. John Hickenlooper surveyed the Waldo Canyon Fire, telling reporters it was a difficult sight to see. "There were people's home's burned to the ground. It was surreal,&…

One man serves his genitals, another born with them on her head: No drought in penis stories floating online todayMaybe he can blame the radiation?? Japan police are investigating a man who cooked and served his own genitals Here’s the nuts and bolts of the story: Mao Sugiyama had his penis and testicles surgically removed in March and kept them frozen for two months before cooking them at a public event in May.. Diners each paid 20,000 yen ($250) for a portion.. And of course there is always a Debbie Downer: The mayor alerted police and now international headlines are being made with news that the event happened. No word on what taste the meal had.. No word on what spices were used. But the Japan dinner is not the only penis story making headlines on news wires tonight. Unfortunately something that may give new meaning to the word ‘dickhead’: A baby was born with a penis on her forehead (yes, her).. and yes, her forehead. Of course specialists may address the issue. This way.. that way.. no way.. another way.. Debby is stumping forecasters

If you watch any given weather service, you will be convinced of this: No one quite knows where Debby is going in the end..

But tonight we know this: Florida has declared a state of emergency and low lined areas are affected with flooding. Tornadoes are popping up and almost 40,000 are without power.

Tourists are gone.. all that's left are the residents. Not sure whether to board up windows or get sand bags... developing weather story and a conundrum for even the most seasoned of weather veterans..

Swine flu killed more than you think.. so says a publication you have never heard of

So you think the swine flu outbreak a few years back was laughable? If you believe the latest news from the Lancet Infectious Disease Journal (no, I don't subscribe but someone must) then you will be a little alarmed with just how many people the publication say perished from the virus: A quarter if a million lives.

Is that the sky falling, or just the sea rising?

While it's clear that earth changes are occurring, it is not yet clear what long term ramifications await the world. Theories abound on food and water shortages, along with the fears of entire island nations soon being underwater relics of the time when the earth was a few degrees Celsius cooler.

Now comes this: News that sea rises will hit the East Coast of the United States disparately higher than the global average..

The US Geological Survey concludes that the East Coast is more in danger of flooding than other coastal areas around the earth. According to their report, the Atlantic Ocean is rising at a rate three times faster than the global average--these numbers since 1990.

And finally, their numbers estimate that by 2100, sea levels globally could be about 3.3 feet higher than now.. The East Coast will be 8 to 11 inches even greater in rise, according to the USGS.
