Watching my son grow

Haircut weekend.. Long to... Short

It's an amazing thing, this fatherhood thing.
Every day I am reminded by headlines and stories that this world is scary.. But I look at my son and realize that it's all FOR something, there is a purpose, and there is something called love. And it's real.

Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend..

There's something about the lonely hotel..

A friend of mine and I were speaking tonight regarding hotels. He's on a business trip in the metropolis of Erie, Pennsylvania, and staying at a local 'comfort' inn of sorts..

But there's not much comforting about his home for the night. He said a walk down the halls seems to be an eerie reminder of the SHINING's Overlook hotel. Maybe Jack Torrance will pop out from behind a corner.. maybe those twin girls from Stanley Kubrick's version of the Stephen King classic will show up in the distance..
I told my friend to cue up some classic Art Bell Ghost to Ghost. He may, but he will also be reading a nonfiction account of serial killers. He's got a nightmare-wish if you ask me..

Yes, indeed, there is just something about the lonely hotel scene that can scare the wits out of someone..

But why?
What is it about those long and lonely hallways? Is it the carpeting? The wallpaper?

Numerous hotels and bed and breakfasts seem to have that creepy feeling. There is a feeling …

Alabama explosions

This breaking now.. CNN reporting: (CNN) - A fire broke out Wednesday night on Alabama's Mobile River after two barges loaded with natural gas exploded not far from where a once listless Carnival cruise ship was docked, authorities said.

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, on its official Twitter feed, reported that it had "units on the scene on east side of Mobile River where a fuel barge has exploded and is on fire." Minutes later, the fire department issued an update stating that two barges had exploded.

Three people who were burned were transported to a local hospital, fire department spokesman Steve Huffman told CNN. He did not describe the severity of their injuries. All people are believed to have been accounted for, Huffman added.

Keep on rockin in the free world

And blogginAnd tumblin And wordperssin And all those things you do.  And keep on fightin CISPA (The one good thing it would have done won’t happen. A CISPA amendment that would have banned employers from asking for Facebook passwords was voted down in the House)

The FBI hunting sleeper cell?

The UK Mirror is reporting some interesting details today..

The MIRROR writes: The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers.

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack.

More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.
