My favorite Facebook weather source, the Weatherboy Weather posted an "OMG" over top of today's snowstorm forecast.. This is beginning to look like a long duration snow storm set to drop up to 20 inches or more in spots..  prepare now because by Monday all travel may be temporarily grounded.. The other concern may be ice if enough warmth spreads into the storm.. It's a March storm after all--and March storms typically produce heavy snow. In like a lion.. a cold, cold lion in winter.

Big British Brother is watching you:
A British spy agency has now been revealed to have been collecting webcam images from Yahoo users for years.. Stop laughing when you see someone put tape over their web cam..
And of course, "activists are 'shocked'" at the revelations. Really..? At this point shocked?

Winter continues to lag.. it may also leave slowly..

Navy sailors suffering pain and ailments after Fukushima response..
But nothing to fear, Navy sailors.. Apparently smoking is worse than the radiation, so says a FORBES editorial about the disaster..  I am sure the author means well. Right? I'd be interesting how tied in with nuclear energy he is.. Nonetheless, the NOT DANGEROUS radiation will be making it to the West Coast by April..  Also the not dangerous scenario playing out at Fukushima is getting a little less dangerous as warnings sound that clean up pumps stopped working. Nothing to see here. The FORBES science author said so..

Figures don't lie bit the liars will figure: 30,000 Washington state students are homeless--50% more than six years ago.

Common sense from the FDA thanks to Michelle Obama: Food labels may finally be realistic as to how Americans eat.. enough with the 'serving size' nonsense that shades the calories in a favorable way.. a more honest food label is coming.

The famed (AND REAL!) Doomsday Seed Vault has added 20,000 more crops from 100 nations to the already 800,000 stock ..

At The Movies: The hosts of the ABC show often champion independent Australian films, but not Wolf Creek 2
Horror movie controversy in Australia.. two famed movie critics from down under refused to review a horror flick WOLF CREEK 2..  And now as a result, star from the movie John Jarratt took aim at the 'elitist' critics for their refusal to acknowledge the movie..
I am actually somewhat laughing at the image of the critics, Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton. Stratton looks identical to the man who does my taxes every year.. I hope I don't take this movie review refusal out on him in 2015..

I have really never liked horror movies based on true stories.. they seem a little over the top, often. And in this matter, perhaps insensitive and tacky.. Sony has just bought the rights to a horror movie based on the death of Elisa Lam in Los Angeles in 2013.. You may remember recent stories about Lam in the news. She was the student who was found dead in the water tank of then famed and cursed Cecil Hotel--for two weeks hotel visitors were complaining of a smell and taste in the water, later they found Lam's body. In recent months, a surveillance video from the elevator in the hotel was made famous because it seemed to show Lam acting odd moments before she supposedly entered the roof area and somehow got into a high and secured water tank.. The coroner ruled the death to be accidental. Not an accident is SONY making profits off of the death of the innocent young woman.

The Detroit boom: A friend visits from a trip 28,000 miles per house

This is the AP news brief on the meteor and earthquake in Detroit January 16:
DETROIT (AP) — Experts say a bright light and what sounded like thunder in the sky above Michigan was a meteor.  The American Meteor Society says it received hundreds of reports of a fireball Tuesday night over the state, including many in the Detroit area. The U.S. Geological Service says it registered as a 2.0 magnitude earthquake in Michigan. Bill Cooke with NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office tells The Detroit News it was “definitely a meteoroid” and a rare sight for Michigan.Other states where people reported seeing a fireball included Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri.

FIRE AND FURY

The fake missile warning in Hawaii was scary for residents of that state .. 38 minutes of hell.

Scary for America more may be what ELIANA JOHNSON writes in POLITICO: A false warning of a missile threat in Hawaii sent White House aides scrambling Saturday, frantically phoning agencies to determine a response and triggering worries about their preparedness almost a year into the Trump administration. President Donald Trump’s Cabinet has yet to test formal plans for how to respond to a domestic missile attack, according to a senior administration official. John Kelly, while serving as Secretary of Homeland Security through last July, planned to conduct the exercise. But he left his post to become White House chief of staff before it was conducted, and acting secretary Elaine Duke never carried it out. The Old Cold War guard is gone. The newcomers can issue threats but appear to be unaware on how to act on them.. “The U.S. government hasn’t tested these plans in 30 years,” said the senior a…
