Tuesday terrors: Scary stories to tell on the news

A smattering and splattering of news of the real, the weird, the fictitiously, and the scandalous .. There are volumes more of daily headlines that can be covered.. but the wrap up would be far too many words .. Here's the briefs:

A new report out today says that the pesticides used by farmers is not only deadly for the bugs on the crops, but also the workers who are around the chemicals. Brian Bienkowski writes that the pesticides are linked to depression and suicides, along with very sudden shifts in behavior.

Nichole Beaudry wrote an exceptionally emotional piece in the ATLANTIC today called "Murder in a time before Google." It's a good read, and focuses on the 1973 murder of her father--a man, that she writes, did not exist according to the internet..

Ebola is on our shores.. but do you want it at your doorstep? It may be, just in time for Halloween. As usual, there is at least one controversial Halloween costume each year. This time, it does not involve breasts hanging out or sexualized cartoon characters, instead it's the disease that is ravaging a number of countries. Some wonder if the Ebola related Halloween apparel is too soon..

Another bit related to Halloween: The candy in Denver may contain pot. That dire warning comes from police in the city who are telling parents to brace themselves for the possibility of marijuana in this year's candy haul..  In the 1970s, we checked apples for knives that never were in there.. is this the latest fear that will not materialize? Dude?

Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and show people from another generation in time this headline: "Skype Takes on Snapchat with Qik App"..    Quite frankly, I don't even know if I understand it.

Kachinga .. Ke$ha is in the news again.. This time, her haunted vagina has taken a backseat to real news. The star says that she was sexually, physically, and verbally abused by her producer.. According to her lawsuit, she would be forced drugs and alcohol and then the abuse would commence.  Even more, she makes the allegation that it almost led to her death..

Bill Murray says that the desire for an award for acting is like a disease, and argues that winning an Oscar can hurt your career. In the mean time, he has appeared on the cover of VARIETY magazine with the headline "Saint Bill." And it's a strange cover, indeed..

And finally some food for thought on why people are so curious about the morbid.. a fascinating tale of truth..

STRANGER THINGS 2 looks incredible

The newest STRANGER THINGS 2 trailer hit on Friday the 13th .. amazing timing as always with the fine people at Netflix..

The excitement over this program is incredible. Not only are people re-watching and re-binging the first season in preparation, but there is an equal amount of re-watching and analyzing of the newest trailers..

Before discussion.. take a glance:

My initial thought: This is actually the weaker of the teasers and trailers for season 2.. Yes, I am inclined to wonder why Eleven is more androgynous  .. why she has more hair now and no one shaved it. why she is out of the upside down and eating Eggos in the normal world..

So many questions about her. But the trailer didn't pay much attention to her--I think on purpose. Instead we glimpsed into the post-pubescent boys and now new friends of another gender planning something, just as the world is being taken over by giant squid creatures from the upside down.

Not viewed at all? Mike's mom and dad. Barb..

Forgive me…

Yes, indeed.. a hurricane-ish type storm is about to hit Ireland..

Hurricane Ophelia is the 10th consecutive hurricane to form in the Atlantic basin this year. According to University of Miami hurricane expert Brian McNoldy, the last time ten consecutive storms became a hurricane was 1893. While a very interesting factoid, the "elephant in the room" is that Ophelia is headed to Ireland. It is rare, but not unprecedented.

There are a few interesting things about this.. First off, there have been really rare occasions that storms of this nature made it as far as Ophelia may..

Actually there have been only a handful in the past years since about, oh, 1851..

From 1851 to 2010, only 10 extratropical storms, typically the tail ends of tropical cyclones, have hit within 200 miles (322 kilometers) of Ireland....Hurricane Debbie was the only tropical hurricane to make landfall in that area, clipping the far northwest of the British Isles in 1961.

But this is 2017--the year that mayhem on …

A dog eat dog afterlife

I read a somewhat moving article on HUFF PARANORMAL about a man who lost his pet dog.. In death, he sought to find the animal’s spirit.. His method was to use a smoke bomb and camera.. The author of the article is sure that he saw the face of his beloved deceased pet on the foggy image..
Before you laugh and mock, there’s two things to note.. First off, science can explain so much. But there’s a cutoff when science stops.. At least at this point. Logic may say that this image is just smoke within smoke.. For for the believer when faith, it’s something more. And science by no means can explain even a morsel of faith., And secondly– perhaps this would be more for pet owners– who didn’t lose an animal and feel the presence of that same beloved pet after death? And even more, I have known a handful of people that claimed per visitation from an afterlife.. In my own circumstance, I fondly remember seeing my dog Newt walk by my door. It was after he died. I had a witness– he saw it but years l…
