Grammys: Big bucks. All Whammys

Dominic Patten, writing for DEADLINE, reveals early numbers for GRAMMY ratings. They aren't pretty..
He writes,
With a 12.7/21 in metered market ratings, the Recording Academy’s big hootenanny was also way down from the early numbers for the LA-based February 13, 2017 59th annual show. By way down, I mean a just over 20% decline from last year to what looks to be an all-time low for the ceremony.Facing the midseason debut of The Walking Dead and even a bit more competition on the rest of the Big 4 than last night’s show, last year’s Adele dominated Grammys eventually claimed 26.05 million viewers and a 7.8 rating among adults 18-49 when the final numbers came in.

Words of caution on the flu from Seph Lawless

There is no escape.. the flu is rampant in 50 states and officials have declared it the worst in a decade--perhaps longer--and the season is not peaking yet. More to come.
More misery.
And tragically more deaths to result as well.
One of everyone's favorite photographers just had a near tragic battle:
FAMED DEAD MALL PHOTOG SEPH LAWLESS ALMOST DIED OF THE FLU! ! !

LAWLESS TWEETED:
Recently I had the flu. I ended up in the ER testing positive for the deadly H3N2. They tested my blood gas in artery said the virus was cuttin off oxygen to my organs and that’s why I felt like I was dying, made me stay for 24hr observation. I got the flu shot this year

I was informed by doctors that I could of easily died within minutes if the virus eventually cut more oxygen off to my organs. They also said the CDC predicted the wrong strain this year and that the flu shot is only 10% effective this flu season

It should be duly noted that I exhibited no flu-like symptoms and when asked how I felt I kept …

Dear David back for more

If you have some spare time and interest, check out a Twitter account run by Adam Ellis @moby_dickhead .. Humorous name.

Over the past several months, Ellis went from just a few followers to now almost 970,000 people writing a steady stream of updates about ‘Dear David.’

If you go back through the annals of @moby_dickhead, you’ll find a rather unassuming beginning where strange things were happening in his Manhattan apartment. From there, things get worse.. and worser. And worsest. To the point where he believes his humble abode is haunted with the spirit of David, a young child who seems to have a gigantic cranium indicating injury or sickness. The spirit, plagued with anger, is now causing consternation for Ellis.

The best part is how the ongoing story seems so brilliantly true!

Ellis gained notoriety when a few British rags picked up on the story — the story of Dear David traveled around the world in 60 seconds. From there, Ellis continued posting some mundane things on Instagram, and …

SLEEP ON THIS CONSPIRACY THEORY FOR A WHILE

You should sleep on this conspiracy theory for a while

A few days ago a REDDIT thread about conspiracy become social media bedlam! A poster said he/she believed that the company Mattress Film was a cover for a large-scale scandalous money laundering operation!

The comment got 41 thousand up votes quickly.. the theory spread on Twitter and other socials.. And then, only propelling the conspiracy theory into high revolution around the sun, the comment was SIMPLY DELETED.

Gone.

Speculation exists and to why.. a whodunnit of epic online proportions.

A few screen grabs below to show some original postings along with Twitter affirmations afterwards:

An interesting point that was brought out in discussion: In 2016 German based company Steinhoff acquired Mattress Firm (and Mattress Firm was already a big purchase since it acquired Sleepy’s in 2015.).

By December of 2017, the CEO of Steinhoff stepped down and Germany was investigating whether the company was in violation of that country’s commercial …

The Detroit boom: A friend visits from a trip 28,000 miles per house

This is the AP news brief on the meteor and earthquake in Detroit January 16:
DETROIT (AP) — Experts say a bright light and what sounded like thunder in the sky above Michigan was a meteor.  The American Meteor Society says it received hundreds of reports of a fireball Tuesday night over the state, including many in the Detroit area. Reports also came in from several other states and Ontario, Canada. Some Michigan residents reported their homes shaking.  The society says the reports suggest a space rock penetrated deep into the Earth’s atmosphere before it broke apart. The U.S. Geological Service says it registered as a 2.0 magnitude earthquake in Michigan. Bill Cooke with NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office tells The Detroit News it was “definitely a meteoroid” and a rare sight for Michigan.Other states where people reported seeing a fireball included Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri.
More information now being revealed.. CBS in Detroit reported that NASA said the mete…

FIRE AND FURY

The fake missile warning in Hawaii was scary for residents of that state .. 38 minutes of hell.

Scary for America more may be what ELIANA JOHNSON writes in POLITICO: A false warning of a missile threat in Hawaii sent White House aides scrambling Saturday, frantically phoning agencies to determine a response and triggering worries about their preparedness almost a year into the Trump administration. President Donald Trump’s Cabinet has yet to test formal plans for how to respond to a domestic missile attack, according to a senior administration official. John Kelly, while serving as Secretary of Homeland Security through last July, planned to conduct the exercise. But he left his post to become White House chief of staff before it was conducted, and acting secretary Elaine Duke never carried it out. The Old Cold War guard is gone. The newcomers can issue threats but appear to be unaware on how to act on them.. “The U.S. government hasn’t tested these plans in 30 years,” said the senior a…

BIG ISLAND SCARE: THE DAY THE WORLD ALMOST ENDED IN HAWAII

THIS WARNING SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE STATE TODAY:

Not only that, but warnings buzzed on TVs.. radios.. the horrid screeching noise when an emergency alert sounds..

CNN reports,

Jocelyn Azbell had just woken up in her Maui hotel Saturday when she was hurried into the hotel's basement to take shelter from an incoming ballistic missile.
"You're thinking, 'Oh my gosh, are we going to die? Is it really a missile (headed) our way, or is it just a test?'" the 24-year-old told CNN. "We really didn't know."
Minutes before, she'd received an ominous alert on her phone.
"BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

Azbell, her boyfriend and hundreds of other hotel guests were "herded like cows" into the basement by staff. "People are crying and people obviously were super scared," she said.
For 20 minutes, Azbell said, they waited. Finally, they were told that the alert was a false ala…

There is water on Mars. There is not water on Mars. There is water on Mars.

A cross-section of underground ice is exposed at the steep slope that appears bright blue in this enhanced-color view from the HiRISE camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The scene is about 550 yards wide. The scarp drops about 140 yards from the level ground in the upper third of the image.Credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/UA/USGS

This could be a game changer–and quite the about face since the past several months of news gathered have reinforced the notion that no water at all existed..

As reported in the journal Science (paywall), the water was found in both the north and south of Mars, at latitudes equivalent to South America and Scotland. The exposed areas were found on scarps as steep as 55 degrees. Based on the absence of craters in the regions, scientists believe that the features formed relatively recently.

“The discovery reported today gives us surprising windows where we can see right into these thick underground sheets of ice,” study co-author Shane Byrne of the University of…

Paging Paige: Done at the WWE

WWE’S PAIGE FORCED TO END WRESTLING CAREER

PWInsider reports that Paige was told at this past Monday’s RAW that she will not be able to return to the ring. It was noted that she is “done” as a wrestler, and that the situation is similar to Edge’s retirement in 2011 due to a neck injury…

Paige had just returned to WWE in late November after a seventeen month absence due to a neck injury she suffered in June of 2016. During her absence she suffered two Wellness policy suspensions.

Paige was injured during a house show at the Nassau Coliseum on Dec. 27 during a six-woman tag match. She was kicked in the back by Sasha Banks and struggled to get back to her feet after the bump.

ONLINE PETITION FORMED TO STOP 'SLENDERMAN'

Almost 20,000 people have signed an online petition opposing Sony Pictures’ planned release of a horror movie called “Slender Man,” the character who inspired two Waukesha girls to plot the stabbing death of their sixth-grade classmate in 2014.

Sony released a trailer for the film this week. It is scheduled for release in May.

“This is crass commercialism at its worst,” wrote Alison Perris, who started the petition at Care2

FCC won’t let Trump’s shithole be

The FCC received complaints after NBC and CNN used the word “s—hole” in their coverage of the controversy over comments President Donald Trump reportedly made to lawmakers during a meeting about immigration.

An FCC spokesman said they received a “handful” of comments, but did not have an exact figure yet. The agency does not monitor programming, but reviews each complaint to decide whether to take any type of action.

CNN featured the term on its chyron, and it was also repeated on air multiple times. But the FCC’s jurisdiction over indecency and profanity does not cover cable and satellite programming.x

The word was used once on “NBC Nightly News,” but anchor Lester Holt issued a viewer warning in advance. CBS and ABC chose not to use the word.

The FCC considers a number of factors in whether to act on a complaint, including “context,” and that in the past has included whether it has been a part of news programming. Broadcasters are confident that they would be exempt for using the term i…

Officials said that this flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst in recent years. HOW TO RETURN A CHRISTMAS TREE?

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (WFLA) — While the rest of us were debating where to abandon our trees, one woman decided to take her’s back for a refund.

'ROSEANNE' is pro-Trump!?

RARE reporting this writes,
Let’s quickly get one thing out of the way. I am not writing this piece to defend Roseanne Barr, who regularly shares outlandish conspiracy theories, has described herself as mentally ill, once ran as a liberal green third-party candidate for president, and even maybe-ironically dressed as Hitler and pretended to eat “Jew-cookies” once. Yes, really. Her politics are entirely incoherent and often genuinely offensive, and I see no reason to take them seriously.
That said, Barr did show some real insight when she predicted the show’s relevance in the age of Trump, saying,“As soon as I saw the election results, I knew we’d be back.”
I’m a little young to be nostalgic for “Roseanne” since it went off the air when I was three years old, but Amy Zimmerman of The Daily Beast praised it as having “changed television for the better, featuring a realistic American family, relatable financial troubles, believable gay characters and overweight protagonists…

Weinstein attacked at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort!

TMZ is reporting tonight in fresh runs:

At around 9 PM, Weinstein and his sober coach got up to leave at the same time Steve and his dinner companion were leaving. Steve tells TMZ he had "quite a bit to drink," told his friend to fire up his cell phone and shoot video of what was about to happen.
Steve says he walked up to Weinstein and said, "You're such a piece of s*** for what you did to these women," and then punched him in the face twice. He says Weinstein stumbled backward and almost fell.
A restaurant manager says neither attempted punch connected, and the guy was drunk and out of control.

Both sides agree ... the person who filmed the incident asked Weinstein if he wanted to call the police, but Weinstein declined and everyone left the restaurant.

SEX-MAN! Marvel creator Stan Lee, 95, is accused of groping nurses and demanding oral sex in the shower !!

BOMBSHELL ROCKING THE COMIC LEGEND!!

According to the Daily Mail, “a string of young female nurses” claim that Lee repeatedly groped and harassed them, and demanded to be “pleasured.” The nursing company that employed the women is now reportedly involved in an unspecified legal dispute with Lee. However, no lawsuit has been filed, and no criminal complaint has been made.

An attorney representing Lee denied the “false and despicable allegations” in a statement to the newspaper, and suggested his client has been a target of extortion: “Mr. Lee will not be extorted or blackmailed, and will pay no money to anyone because he has done absolutely nothing wrong.” The lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter late last month to the company that made the accusations.

Lee was sued in 2015 by former assistant Shawn Lukaszewicz, who claimed he was wrongfully fired after enduring emotional abuse from the comics creator and his daughter Joan Celia Lee.

Lee’s wife of 69 years, Joan Lee, passed away in July a…

Barbie Girl will have a whole new meaning

THE NOT-SO-KNOWN HISTORY OF BARBIE The proto-Barbie was just shy of a foot tall, with bulging breasts and a platinum-blonde ponytail, made up for a night on the town with red puckered lips and blue eye shadow. Although Barbie’s curvy proportions are modeled after Lilli’s, the German doll’s heavy makeup and suggestively arched eyebrows didn’t carry over to the American version. The dolls also have tellingly different feet, according to M.G. Lord, the author of Forever Barbie: The Unauthorized Biography of a Real Doll. In the comics, Lilli was witty, irreverent and sexually uninhibited. One strip, summarized by Lord, shows Lilli covering her naked body with a newspaper and explaining to a friend, “We had a fight and he took back all the presents he gave me.” Another shows Lilli in a bikini; when a policeman tells her that two-piece swimsuits are illegal, she says, “Oh, and in your opinion, which part should I take off?” Nonetheless, Lilli dolls were soon coveted by children as well as a…
