Autism's changing definition

The autism rate may soon suddenly plummet.. But the negative aspect of a seemingly good rate of reduction is that people who are in need of medical and education services would potentially be suddenly cut off--all if the definition of autism changes ..

The American Psychiatric Association is contemplating how to redefine Asberger's Syndrome.. According to a report appearing in the New York TIMES, the new definition may exclude many now considered to have autism .. How could anyone find a silver lining in the likelihood that many who suffer would be cut from aid they depend on? Considering this telling section from the New York TIMES report:
“The proposed changes would put an end to the autism epidemic,” said Dr. Fred R. Volkmar, director of the Child Study Center at Yale University School of Medicine and an author of the new analysis. “We would nip it in the bud — think of it that way.”
That's positive thinking I guess..
As millions wonder if their form of autism will be called autism anymore ...
