DEADLY DERECHO, THE HURRICANE ON LAND
Really strong storms have caused deaths and the loss of power for millions.
More strong lines of storms are forming today and will hit in many of the same areas that were hit yesterday.
More on that from Accuweather.The storms have left 5 dead .. There were winds up to 90+ mph.. by the time the storms hit the Jersey coast, winds were still gusting at 80 mph– this storm is being described a hurricane on land. A derecho. A deranged one, at that.Which is why the photo for this post of a snapshot of a page from Frank Miller’s BATMAN comic book compilation (I have the leatherbound edition safety stored away) .. in that comic, a massive heat wave hit Gotham City. I feel like I am in that comic now.. with the absense of course of Batman, the Joker, and the Mutant Gang.I wonder if, in Frank Miller’s world, David Endochrine is funny anymore? He sure ain’t in the real world. -

Deaths blamed on extreme heat and derecho storms
It’s not over yet.. While the past few days have been ugly and life threatening, the heat will continue and another costly and violent derecho is set to hit some of the same places it did yesterday.. Widespread multi day power outages are expected–just as the heat continues to soar to extreme levels..

If you watch any given weather service, you will be convinced of this: No one quite knows where Debby is going in the end..
But tonight we know this: Florida has declared a state of emergency and low lined areas are affected with flooding. Tornadoes are popping up and almost 40,000 are without power.
Tourists are gone.. all that’s left are the residents. Not sure whether to board up windows or get sand bags… developing weather story and a conundrum for even the most seasoned of weather veterans..
