Today’s revelations concerning early life on earth–for some reason–remind me of the REM song HOW THE WEST WAS WON AND WHERE IT GOT US..

A somber song for reflection on how, but yet how little, we have come.

Scientists have discovered what they say could be fossils of some of the earliest living organisms on Earth.

    BBC:

They are represented by tiny filaments, knobs and tubes in Canadian rocks dated to be up to 4.28 billion years old.

That is a time not long after the planet’s formation and hundreds of millions of years before what is currently accepted as evidence for the most ancient life yet found on Earth.

The researchers report their investigation in the journal Nature.

As with all such claims about ancient life, the study is contentious. But the team believes it can answer any doubts.

The scientists’ putative microbes from Quebec are one-tenth the width of a human hair and contain significant quantities of haematite – a form of iron oxide or “rust”.

Matthew Dodd, who analysed the structures at University College London, UK, claimed the discovery would shed new light on the origins of life.

“This discovery answers the biggest questions mankind has asked itself – which are: where do we come from and why we are here?

This this news does NOT amaze and fascinate you, there you aren’t normal..

    A FOX affiliate reports,

Jessica Ogletree posted a picture taken by her 13-year-old daughter to Facebook that had a little something extra looming in the background. No we’re not talking about her brother in the green shirt. Look a little closer at the shadowy figure (Did your eyes widen, because ours sure did!).

“Notice my son Kolton in the background and then notice the gentleman standing to his right!!!” Jessica posted on Facebook.

There’s just one problem with the man in the background. According to Jessica, he doesn’t exist! (Gasp!)

“Ya’ll this gentleman was NOT with them today and there was no one else at these back ponds where they were fishing. The only people there today were Haley, Kolton and their grandparents…”

According to her mother, Haley was going back through pictures she had taken during the day and noticed the (dare we say it), “ghost man.” Like any good teenager, she freaked out and called her mom. Mom wasn’t so much freaked out as she was excited.

“I personally think it’s pretty cool because today is Kolton’s birthday and he caught the biggest fish he’s ever caught! It looks like the man is happy for him!”

The image has been shared thousands of times on the original Facebook post and even more on other social networking platforms..

The hazy shade of winter indeed…

This has been a very strange set of weeks. High temperatures in my backyard ranged from 15 to 80 –all in the span of just hours!! The unlikely story from the year: A lack of snow and a set of hazy, strange, and cloudy days.
The atmosphere was lonely.. it was rude..it was crude..

The limitless span of time can limit a mood.. limit a day..

This is the loneliest time of year. Even with the warmth that some have basked in for hours before cold waves, the gray skies coupled with he dead landscape have equaled soulless days and heartless landscapes..

    But spring will abound.
March is set to come in like a lion–big tornadoes and storms will take shape within hours of me writing this post.. Millions will be affected.

The weather is beyond bizarre lately. Maybe it always was.. but the “averages” have become so out of the norm that it’s almost unmentionable on nightly local weather.

Spring will be here. And with it … blue skies.. sunny weather. And enough bad weather to ruin the mood…

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un executed five security officials…

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un executed five security officials by anti-aircraft gun recently due to “false statements” which were given to the North’s leader and caused him to be enraged. The event was disclosed by the South Korean spy agency, the National Intelligence Service, and discussed in a private meeting with South Korean lawmakers, reported the Associated Press.

The more likely explanation of the executions is that the North Korean dictator is feeling insecure in his position, hence the shootings and the execution of his half-brother by VX nerve gas in Kuala Lumpur. The security officials were members of recently purged state security chief Kim Won Hong. He was fired due to reports of corruption and torture in his agency.

SPACEX BEGINS SPACE TOURISM IN 2018!

The two private citizens — who have not been named — approached SpaceX about the trip, according to a statement from the company. The individuals will be the only crew members on board what is expected to be about a week-long trip around the moon, according to Musk, who spoke with reporters during a phone conference today. The names of the two individuals will be announced later pending the result of initial health and fitness tests, the statement said.

    OSCARGATE!!!
    The conspiracy theories abound.

Last night now, without question, one of the strangest events in Hollywood history played out on LIVE TV for the world to see.. a movie announced as the winner. And the winner announcing another as disarray filled the stage.

This reporting from BUSTLE on the conspiracy theories that are abounding online:

According to Marc Snetiker of Entertainment Weekly Emma Stone said she had her Best Actress card on her person the entire time. “I also was holding my Best Actress in a leading role card that entire time, so whatever story… I don’t meant [sic] to start stuff, but whatever story that was, I had that card,” she reportedly said backstage after the Oscars.

An explanation from The Academy could also explain some things. As Bustle’s Lia Beck wrote: “There are two people who knew the winners before they were named, Brian Cullinan and Martha L. Ruiz, from the accounting firm PwC.” Jarett Wieselman of Buzzfeed pointed out on Twitter that Cullinan told MarketWatch before the show:

From a security perspective, we double up everything. That’s why there’s two of us. We have two briefcases, that are identical, and we have two entire sets of winning envelopes. Martha carries one of those briefcases, I carry the other.

With two sets of awards, no wonder things got a little chaotic. But envelopegate, as it has now been dubbed, may require a more creative explanation. Because if Twitter is good for anything, it’s showcasing the best — and worst, and craziest, and most unbelievable, and… you get it — conspiracy theories on the web.

The high degree of celeb strangeness has been at the top of the fold on Drudge all day..

Insiders are perplexed .. gossip columns are content.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall of Nikki Finke’s bathroom now more than ever..
