The master of the universe:  Roger Sweet dead at 91

A few months ago, it was widely reported that Roger Sweet, one of the people who helped create the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series in the 1980s, was battling dementia in a nursing home and had a GoFundMe set up to help with his medical costs.

Today, it is being widely reported that he has now passed away at the age of 91 from dementia. His wife, Marlene, was quoted in various sources saying he died peacefully.

Roger was one of the key figures behind the creation of the toy line and was also involved with bringing the cartoon to life, helping create a phenomenon that has lived on with fans ever since… and now with a new movie coming out in June of this year.

Hopefully, in some regard, he was able to know that his creation was going to become a movie in 2026… but dementia itself is cruel and awful.
Life goes in funny ways. Roger lived a long life, and he gave a lot of people amazing things that we would not have had without his creation.
    May he rest in peace.

Here’s video from Powercon several years ago featuring Roger..

  • The Nighthawk at 25 years

    The Nighthawk at 25 years

George Noory has been the host of Coast to Coast AM on a somewhat permanent basis since April of 2001..

    That’s an enormous accomplishment.

It’s to the point where this generation hears the Chase music, they know he will intro the show from the City of Angels or the cave in St. Louis,  The more modern audience is largely not at this point able to remember that the late, famous Art Bell as the first and the original Coast host.

Bell was different. We’ve covered him and loved him through the years, but he was chaotic. He gave us famous programming. He was cutting edge, and he did something that no one else was doing at that time. Noory, on the other hand, is reliable instead and now chaotic at aĺl..  he works holidays and for a long time worked weekends until other weekend hosts began to fill in. He’s what the networks execs love… a steady accompkished voice who will be there, except for the occasional moment with pizza rolls burning his throat.

But as time goes on he’s also not what he once was, and even when he was once something different it was not always accepted by the Coast audience.

You have to think back to a time when Art Bell was the voice of the night. Long before podcasts and YouTube videos created the paranormal genre, Bell was the only one. He was the must-listen for night owls, insomniacs, people on night shifts, or those who just wanted to stay up late to listen to good radio. He quit often and came back again. At one point his wife Ramona passed away, and he moved to the Philippines and got remarried. He was organized chaos… mysterious, and reassuring.

In April of 2001, after a few stints from different Coast hosts that were not accepted by the audience, the Nighthawk George Noory became a new voice of the night. He did, of course, have to compete with Bell, who would occasionally host weekends from time to time and also filled in here and there as well..  As a matter of fact, for some of us who were never sure if Bell would be back or not, many people would tune in every night just to see who would enter the show. And when it was Noory, many Bell fans would turn it off.

Bell and Noory would go on to publicly schism a bit in a very public way when Bell left Coast officially after Halloween of 2010. That’s a whole different story that we’ve covered.

But Noory, on the other hand, has been the stalwart. He’s been there. He has been a constant voice on the airwaves at night. As time has gone on, his voice has become a little shaky, his words slur now. There’s a poignant difference between Noory of 2001 and the reality that currently exists in 2026. We ALL AGE..

Now as he gets to his 25th anniversary, he tells others, including Barrett Media, there is no reason to leave.

According to Barrett Media, Noory reflects on his 25-year run as one defined by consistency and longevity, embracing his role as a steady, reliable presence in contrast to Bell’s unpredictability. He points to the evolution of the show into a nationally syndicated staple still heard on hundreds of affiliates, acknowledges the changing media landscape with podcasts and digital platforms now dominating the paranormal space, and makes it clear that he still believes in the format and has no plans to step away anytime soon.

So as you can see from Noory’s own words, whether he’s phoning it in some or not, he’s still there. And he seemingly has no plans to leave.

Things are a lot different now than they were before. Open Minds isn’t so open. Cornelius and a handful of people  are the only people who seem to call every night. All the fan sites like Fantastic Forum and places of that nature moved on after Bell’s Midnight in the Desert stopped broadcasting and Bell himself passed away on Friday the 13th in 2018.

Listening to Noory now is a bit sad if you compare him to.the younger version 25 years ago. There are still remnants of the show, whether it’s the intro music or now and then Noory choosing to play Dancing Queen as one of the bumper songs. And while the thunder still rolls before breaks, those breaks are now filled with advertisements for vitamins, dating sites, and other plugs that Noory has created through the years.

Many who still listen seem to like some of the fill-in hosts, like Richard Syrett or Ryan Wrecker, but they’re not the permanent people. Noory still owns the night at 25 years, Coast to Coast AM  plays on 600+ affiliates.

    Always live.

As radio slowly wanes in popularity, undoubtedly Coast has as well. While no one can say how many more years the show will go on, even the aging and weak-voiced Noory has a limit.

But for 25 years, he has done something very remarkable.
    He’s lasted.

And in radio… lasting is the biggest victory of all.

  • Netflix planning an origin story for the Scooby gang

Netflix planning an origin story for the Scooby gang

A new series, titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, just started filming in Atlanta — and it finally explains how Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and, of course, the titular Great Dane came together to solve crimes and unmask foes under Mystery Inc.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, the new show opens with longtime friends Daphne and Shaggy in their last year of camp, when they get entangled in a mystery involving a Great Dane puppy (Scooby, of course) who may have witnessed a supernatural murder. They team up with “scientific townie Velma and the strange but ever-so-handsome new kid Freddy.”

  • From the Vault: JASON X in 2002

From the Vault: JASON X in 2002

Jason X was a bad film.. just awful..

And we are old enough to recall going to theaters to see it in April 2002 when it was released..

Some movies get better over time and accepted.. Kind of like Halloween 3, we change in our review..

But all this time later it doesn’t seem like much has changed in the world of JASON X viewpoints..

We had no mercy in 2002 when we revealed the entire movie after being told from those who screened it earlier in the year what happened..

At that time, we were constantly fixated on Robert Ebert (*may he rest in peace) and his hatred of horror movies.. He did not disappoint in his review of JASON X..

    We also wrote in 2002:

Roger Ebert reviews JASON X…”There will be a “Jason XI”–or, given the IQ level of the series, “Jason X, Part 2″…
“The characters follow the usual rules from Camp Crystal Lake, which require the crew members to split up, go down dark corridors by themselves, and call out each other’s names with the sickening certainty that they will not reply”

JASON X / 1/2* from THE SUN-TIMES….Although Ebert’s review was the most comical, the rash of negative reviews have not surprised us…Although, the amount of them has…

Other reviews from horror sites at that time (many are gone now)..

CREATURE-CORNER: “Is it a good film? F*** no. The musical score sounds like Philip Glass taking a dump on his Casio, the production design and costumes sometimes falter, and there’s more than one joke that goes so bad as to require the audience to audibly groan”

U-WIRE.COM: ” Never pee in the woods. Pee in the woods and your head gets chopped off. Actually, it’s not just urinating that gets you in trouble, but smoking a joint, having sex, taking a shower, talking, eating, etc. The only people who seem to live are the ones who just run around calling out names. So, if you are alone in the woods at night and hear “ch-ch-ch-ah-ah-ah,” don’t do anything except run around shouting for your friends.

CINESCAPE: JASON X therefore winds up being a rather strange hybrid – sort of but not entirely horror, sort of but not entirely comedy, definitely (assuming you like this sort of thing in the first place) guilty-pleasure fun….

It was just that bad then and maybe just as bad now..

  • ACME.. Warner.. Warner .. Acme… so many similarities?

ACME.. Warner.. Warner .. Acme… so many similarities?

For years, the Road Runner has been uncaught because of defective products from ACME.. Wile E. Coyote never had a chance..

    Will Forte will now represent.

This movie has been shelved for a long time but later this summer, on August 29, it is finally being released into theaters..

Deadline reports, while Warner Bros. long ago completed and tested the film, also starring John Cena and Lana Condor, they shelved it all the way back in the fall of 2023 amid rampant cost-cutting efforts led by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. The move ignited outrage not only among the film’s key creatives, but across Hollywood at large, leading the studio to shop the project. Multiple studios placed bids, but Ketchup Entertainment wound up landing the project in a deal valued at around $50M, as we first reported last March.

It was shelved in 2023 when WBD CEO David Zaslav decided to cancel it – along with a number of other films and shows – in order to receive a tax write-down.

Even Will Forte said at the time, “My thoughts were that it’s f–king bulls–t. It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than it got,” he said. “I can not tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it. But it makes my blood boil.”

As the movie finally sets on releasing, let’s not forget the LONE PROTESTER outside of Warner who wanted to bring attention to the movie not being released!

The people who begged for this movie better go see it in theaters. This isn’t just a movie anymore, it’s a message to big movie companies!

  • Ready for another Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

Ready for another Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

It never seems to matter if people really are ready.. they keep coming..

And… another one is on the way.

Per Variety, it’s been revealed that Curry Barker has been hired by A24 to direct a reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The feature film is separate from a Texas Chainsaw Massacre series that’s also in development at the studio by director JT Mollner. No specific details about Barker’s take on the story have yet been revealed, but it’s being described as a “reimagining,” suggesting it will tell a new story based on the original film from 1974.

    Another new story..

    Another new chainsaw massacre …

The original film is credited as being one of the ‘scariest of all time.’ And if that is the case, why do they keep redoing it repeatedly?

CHAOS ERUPTS AT WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS DINNER AFTER SHOTS FIRED; TRUMP AND CABINET RUSHED OUT

    LIVE UPDATES NEW YORK TIMES..

    AP..

    DEVELOPING…

True chaos erupted at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight, as reports began to surface of a shooting in the lobby just outside the ballroom—right before the evening’s festivities were set to begin.

According to what is known at the time of this writing, the shooter has been apprehended. But in those initial moments, confusion and fear took over quickly.

Former President Donald Trump, the First Lady, and members of the cabinet were rushed out of the event. Trump himself was abruptly pulled from his seat—either stumbling or being forced to the ground—before being quickly escorted out of the room by security.

Inside the ballroom, reporters—many of whom would normally be the ones delivering the news—were instead diving under tables, trying to make sense of what was happening while protecting themselves as shots were reportedly being fired just outside the room.

Information has been slow to come in, and understandably so. The very people who would be reporting on the situation were in the middle of it, taking cover as the situation unfolded in real time.

The Drudge Report has already thrown up its signature siren, signaling the severity and urgency of the moment. At this point, there is still uncertainty as to whether the dinner will continue. Trump has reportedly expressed that he would like the event to go on, but ultimately said the decision will rest with law enforcement.

Another angle courtesy of TMZ shows the table during the incident..

Oddly… Karoline Levitt said, comically, there will be “Shots fired” at the dinner tonight..

    Additionally.. further oddity ..

Fox News reporter was on reporting saying, “The Press Secretary’s husband was one of our guests; he was sitting right next to me. Right as dinner was starting, the National Anthem played, and then he leaned over and said, ‘I watched you on TV, you do a great job, but you need to be very safe.’ “He was very serious when he said that to me, and he kinda looked around the room and said, ‘There are some–’”. The call then mysteriously cut off, with many viewers believing it was done on purpose.

Later, still in a bow tie, the President addressed the press..

  • We finally watched Undertone so you don’t have to. Although you might very well want to

We finally watched Undertone so you don’t have to. Although you might very well want to

    It was good!

There may be some spoilers here. Maybe not. That’s kind of the nature of this one.

First off, there are people far smarter than us—or at least people who say they are—who have already broken this film down and latched onto the meaning behind the title. Undertone isn’t just a name. It’s the entire point.

Our main protagonist, Evie, is the host of the Undertone podcast alongside Justin. The premise is simple enough: they’re playing ten anonymous audio files sent in by someone who refuses to explain who they are or why they sent them. Evie plays the skeptic, Justin leans into belief, and together they perform that balance for the show.

But as the movie unfolds, it becomes clear Evie isn’t really a skeptic. She’s hiding.

She’s masking fear, depression, and something deeper that she doesn’t want to confront. When she finds out she’s pregnant, the film quietly reveals another layer… this is not a joyful moment for her. It’s unwanted. And just like the recordings being forced into her life, it’s something she didn’t ask for but now has to face.
From there, the movie settles into a slow, uncomfortable rhythm. We’re introduced to distorted audio, demonic undertones buried in nursery rhymes, and recordings that feel wrong in ways that are hard to explain. It’s not about what you hear. It’s about what you don’t hear. The silence. The gaps. The suggestion that something is just beneath the surface.

At the same time, Evie’s mother is dying.

And this is where the movie starts to hit differently.

While her mother fades in the next room, Evie retreats into headphones, noise cancellation, and the world of the podcast. She’s drowning out reality while simultaneously immersing herself in something just as disturbing. It’s not just avoidance… it’s a form of coping. Or maybe it’s a form of surrender.
A lot of people have analyzed this film and pulled meaning from it. There are layers here, and most of them are subtle. But the last ten minutes? Subtle is gone.

The final stretch is chaotic. Loud. Disjointed. Almost overwhelming.

The movie has been quiet for so long, relying on tension and sound design instead of cheap jump scares. Then suddenly, everything breaks. It mirrors Evie’s emotional collapse as her mother’s death rattle fills the room. It’s uncomfortable, messy, and confusing… just like grief.

Everyone is going to walk away from Undertone with a different interpretation. But if you’ve ever cared for someone who was dying, this movie is going to land in a way that’s hard to shake. You hide from it. You distract yourself. You consume media that somehow reflects what you’re going through, hoping to find meaning in the pain.

That’s the undertone of this film… PAIN.

Evie isn’t a skeptic because she doesn’t believe. She’s a skeptic because she needs to be. Because believing means confronting everything she’s trying to avoid.

And in the end, loss doesn’t come cleanly. It comes with agony, confusion, fear, and despair.
This movie has all of it.

Like we said… we watched Undertone so you don’t have to. But honestly, you probably should.

It may not be the “scariest movie of the year” like every trailer claims these days, but it might be one of the most effective. And depending on where you are in life—whether you’ve experienced loss or you’re in the middle of it—the undertone of this film might hit you harder than anything else you’ll see this year.

  • Stranger Things or Mundane Things? The case of the dead scientists

Stranger Things or Mundane Things? The case of the dead scientists

There’s a narrative starting to build right now… and whether it’s real or not is still very much up for debate.

Scientists are vanishing in the US and now China. It is conspiracy, or our brains just trying to make sense of mundane chaos?

A number of scientists and individuals connected to aerospace, defense, and advanced technologies have died under unusual circumstances over time. Recently, that conversation has picked up steam again—fueled by media coverage, online speculation, and even some politicians who have been vocal about transparency surrounding UAPs and classified research.
The question is simple… but the answer isn’t.

    Is this actually a pattern?

Or are we connecting dots that were never meant to be connected?

And it’s not just in the US.. NEWSWEEK magazine is reporting in some fresh runs that the strange death of scientists have been happening in China, as well!

Chinese-language media tracking the untimely or unexplained deaths frequently hint at their suspicions with headlines such as: “Eight Top Scientists ‘Mysteriously Die’!” Taiwan’s Formosa TV News called it “Extremely Uncommon” in a report last year.

In the Communist Party-ruled mainland of China and Hong Kong, speculation has swirled: “But who would have thought that even in the 21st century, several Chinese geniuses who studied or visited overseas would die mysteriously and inexplicably!” read one article in October last year on the popular 163.com website.

Once something like this enters the public consciousness, it spreads fast. People start looking backward—digging through old reports, resurfacing past deaths, trying to line them up in a way that makes sense. The media does it. Social media amplifies it. And suddenly, isolated incidents start to feel like chapters in the same story.

    The Latest Case Drawing Attention

A report highlighted by the New York Post brings that conversation back into focus.

Joshua LeBlanc, an aerospace technologies electrical engineer reportedly connected to work involving nuclear propulsion, was recently found deceased after being reported missing by his family.

According to local reporting from KLFY, LeBlanc failed to show up for work—something described as completely out of character. Days later, a body believed to be his was discovered and later identified through forensic analysis.

The details are unsettling. The circumstances are unclear. And because of that… the speculation begins almost immediately.

On one hand, people pass away every day under strange, tragic, and sometimes unexplained circumstances. When those individuals happen to be tied to science, defense, or high-level research, it’s natural for questions to follow.

On the other hand… once you start grouping these events together under a single narrative, you risk building something that feels real without actually being provable.

And right now, there’s no confirmed evidence tying these incidents together.

But there also isn’t a shortage of people willing to ask the question: What if there is?

So we end up in a place we’ve been before.
Maybe this is nothing more than a series of unfortunate, unrelated events—people in high-pressure, high-visibility fields whose deaths draw more attention because of what they did for a living.

Maybe there are threads we don’t fully understand yet. Maybe there are things happening behind the scenes that never make it into official reports. Maybe some people really do know more than they’re able to say.

Right now, both ideas exist in the same space.
    And For Now… We Watch

Time will sort this out one way or another.

Patterns either hold up under scrutiny… or they fall apart.
But in a moment like this, where information moves fast and conclusions move even faster with online theories and zany connections that may or may not exist, the most important thing might be restraint.

Ask the questions and pay attention.
But don’t rush to connect every dot just because the picture looks compelling. And giving families who are grieving some respect.. A lot of people die in surprising and awful ways.. So a pattern may exist but it may not be significant..

    Sometimes a pattern is real.
And sometimes… it’s just the human need to make sense of chaos.
