A hacker was able to successfully alter the levels of chemicals in Oldsmar’s water supply to ‘potentially damaging’ levels Friday, officials said.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said on Friday morning a plant operator at Oldsmar’s water treatment facility noticed someone remotely accessed the computer system he was monitoring.
The computers are set up for allowing remote access to select people to troubleshoot problems, so the operator didn’t think much about the incident.

The trailer promised “only in theaters” this summer…
Some wondered.. what is a theater. Nonetheless, the new Shyamalan film’s trailer appeared in the early portion of the Super Bowl on CBS..
The movie is called OLD.
Starring Gael García Beral (Mozart in the Jungle) and Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), the film is reportedly based on Sandcastle, a graphic novel by Pierre Oscar Levy. The story focuses on a family’s trip to a beach, and the dark secrets they discover behind its corners.
It’s unclear how faithfully Shyamalan’s movie adapts the Levy story, but in the trailer, we get the beach, the family, and true to the director’s horror-thriller roots, a supernatural turn of events.
Old is among a wave of new films shot under strict set guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic…
Your eyes are not deceiving you. There is a video online where it appears the moon deflates..
The footage was filmed by a Russian cosmonaut on the International Space Station. It seems to show the Earth’s satellite appearing to deflate when it disappears behind the horizon.
But before flat Earth or hollow Earth theorizers pick up on a new “inflatable” moon theory, there appears to be a reason for the appearance: What actually happens in the video is that the moon slowly disappears behind Earth’s horizon and the distortions are caused by the atmosphere of our planet.
British drugmaker AstraZeneca said on Saturday its vaccine developed with the University of Oxford appeared to offer only limited protection against mild disease caused by the South African variant of COVID-19, based on early data from a trial.
The study from South Africa’s University of the Witwatersrand and Oxford University showed the vaccine had significantly reduced efficacy against the South African variant, according to a Financial Times report published earlier in the day.
Among coronavirus variants currently most concerning for scientists and public health experts are the so-called British, South African and Brazilian variants, which appear to spread more swiftly than others.
“In this small phase I/II trial, early data has shown limited efficacy against mild disease primarily due to the B.1.351 South African variant,” an AstraZeneca spokesman said in response to the FT report.
The newspaper said none of the more than 2,000 trial participants had been hospitalized or died.
Just days ago, it was reported that more than 4,000 variants are making their way around the planet ..
“Its very unlikley that the current vaccine won’t be effective on the variants whether in Kent or other variants especially when it comes to severe illness and hospitalization,” Vaccine Deployment Minister Nadhim Zahawi told Sky News in the UK..
“All manufacturers, Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca and others are looking at how they can improve their vaccine to make sure that we are ready for any variant – there are about 4,000 variants around the world of COVID now.”
Super Bowl ad features stars and cartoon characters, even Samara from the RING.. all to advertise Paramount+, yet another streaming service.
This time, Patrick Stewart told all of the stars to dance and say “we are metaphors.”
There is something sad about this commercial, almost like a viewpoint from a corporate ivory tower … you are owed, the stars are being told. We will tell you what to do and tell you how we will sell you.
It is unclear who the target audience is for this ad–but it will most likely be ridiculed as one of the flattest when it comes to humor and saddest when it comes to innovation. Nothing cutting edge.. nothing biting. Nothing real.
The only one that appears to be happy is Samara slowly dancing while a freaked out Beavis and Butthead remain speechless..
Categorize this up in the ‘crazy Romanian’ file–one overwhelming in high strangeness..
This time the story involves a tragic outcome.
The six-week-old suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital on Monday but he died a few hours later, the autopsy revealing liquid in his lungs. Prosecutors have opened a manslaughter investigation against the priest in the north-eastern city of Suceava…
The UK GUARDIAN is among those reporting facts about the religious killing,
An online petition calling for changes to the ritual had gathered more than 56,000 signatures by Thursday evening. “The death of a newborn baby because of this practice is a huge tragedy,” said a message with the petition. “This risk must be ruled out for the joy of baptism to triumph.”
One internet user denounced the “brutality” of the ritual and another criticised the “stubbornness of those who think that it is the will of God” to maintain it.
Local media recounted several similar incidents in recent years. Church spokesman Vasile Banescu said priests could pour a little water on the baby’s forehead instead of full immersion. But Archbishop Teodosie, leader of the Church’s traditionalist wing, said the ritual would not change.
Eminence Calinic, the Archbishop of Arges, is the most prominent voice so far who appears open to change. “In other icons, Jesus stands in the water up to his neck, and with his head bowed he receives baptism by pouring water over the top of his head,” he was quoted as saying.
The Archbishop of Tomis, however, took a more belligerent stance. “We will never change the ritual. The canons of this religion have been in place for over 1,000 years,” he said. “That is why we won’t change. We are not intimidated.”
It features the beauty and grit of New York along with once busy streets tampered down by a snowstorn.. and the ambulance reminds us also of the virus. A virus that created space on sidewalks long prior to the blizzard of 2021.
To the Reddit user’s credit, it truly is like the cover of a video game about a pandemic in a end times scenario..
Another REDDIT user said, “Was walking back from work (tv studio) with my kids the other day, we walked about 2 blocks in midtown passing literally nobody, no cars, no people, nothing, at 3 pm on a weekday. My daughter flapped her arms around and whispered to me, ‘are we still on set?’”
And one more,
“If it wasn’t for this picture, I’d have a hard time imagining NYC with nearly empty streets. Just doesn’t seem possible”
Not only possible but evident and real..
This photo has no name. But to correspond it with realty, perhaps the perfect fitting label would be titled: “Dark Winter, New York.”
An actor in California who appeared in a live-action Stranger Things experience, is suing Netflix and other defendants for failing to provide adequate COVID-19 work conditions.
Timothy Hearl, who played an alternate dimension Demogorgon monster on Stranger Things: The Drive Into Experience, is the first actor to sue entertainment employers over COVID-19 working conditions in the January 15 suit he filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Netflix, Empyrean Production Services, Redrock Entertainment Services LLC, Fever Labs Inc. and Secret Group U.S. Inc are named as defendants in the case.
Hearl was required to wear a costume for the monster role, complaining to superiors in work emails about safety before he was reassigned to play a character who wore a hazmat suit. The lawsuit states that Hearl expressed concern about being exposed to COVID-19 while at the indoor rehearsals..
Hearl and other actors would learn that they had been replaced after complaining, with the company firing him for what they say was “making women uncomfortable.”
According to published reports, Hearl now fears that he’ll be blacklisted from the industry because of the allegations, the suit states. He had to out himself as a gay man, which prompted defendants to then change their reasoning for firing him to ‘due to client’s request,’ the lawsuit reads. The actor has suffered depression, pain, humiliation, severe emotional distress, trauma and sleeplessness. Hearl is seeking unspecified damages, according to the suit…
Here is a video of just what the drive in experience was like:
Neighbors engaged in a snow shoveling dispute from this week’s significant winter storm in northeastern Pennsylvania are all now dead. In the northeastern Pennsylvania community of Plains, roughly 15 miles southwest of Scranton, Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said a husband and wife were shot to death in the street outside their home just before 9am Monday.
The suspect who shot them was found dead in his home of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Luzerne county coroner pronounced all three dead just before 11:30 a.m. Monday.
According to a joint statement released by Salavantis and Dale Binker, who serves as Police Chief for Plains Township, 50 year old James Goy and 48 year old Lisa Goy were shot to death by their neighbor, 47 year-old James Spaide.
“The Goys were shoveing the snow from their parking spots, shoveling the snow across the road, and throwing the snow onto Spaide’s property,” the joint statement said. Witnesses told investigators that Spaide asked the couple to stop, escalating the incident to a shouting match. Witnesses said Goy then took a tool he was using to remove snow from his car and threw it at Spaide. When Goy approached Spaide, Spaide retreated into his house, grabbed a gun, and returned to shoot them. The incident, captured on a resident’s security camera, shows Spaide firing multiple times into the Goys. Spaide returned to his house after killing them, where according to officials, he used another firearm to commit suicide as the police arrived and approached his home.
In the security video, Spaide can be heard muttering that the Goys are “scummy” before he appears in the frame, sparking an immediate reaction from the pair.
“This is bull s—,” Lisa shouts.
“You can go f— yourself,” her husband adds.
When Spaide returned with the gun, Lisa shouted, “Go ahead,” she urges her armed neighbor. “Go ahead.” After some more shouting, Spaide opened fire.
The Goy’s 15 year old autistic child remained in the house during his parent’s murder. He is now in the custody of his grandparents.
With the entire incident captured on video and the gunman dead, officials have declared the case “closed.”
This made major news organizations throughout the days afterwards. For some reason, it became a largely shared story in the United Kingdom.
But what may have made matters even more disgusting about this event has been two things 1) The social media response. Some have opined in ways that truly show the socials have become the ghetto of the internet.. and 2) The video.
THE VIDEO
For more than a day, several Youtube channels had the full video of the entire encounter posted.. It is really not clear how the video was able to be leaked so fast and how it remained on social media for the amount of time it did.
After all, any mention of the My Pillow Guys gets you automatically disbanded! But this video stayed for hours showing the murder of two people in broad daylight..
The video, which Eyewitness News will not be showing, was shared on social media and garnered over 1,000 views before being removed. Around 1:30 p.m. the link to the video had been disabled, stating: “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s policy on violent or graphic content,” according to YouTube.
Eyewitness News has reached out to the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office for comment and is awaiting response.
The image is out there of the encounter right before the first shot is fired .. almost all news sources are using that. The caption underneath reads that it is from the Luzerne County prosecutor’s office.
How the entire video leaked out is a question. Why YouTube took days to remove is..
Meanwhile atrocious media was able to share it by the thousands before a crackdown began…
It seems to be offline now .. but with its short life span in the scheme of things, it is now “out there” in Internetland. Ready to pop up again in a future setting when you least expect the horror ..
