    Cue the pun: Monkeys business

LoRemember a couple of years ago in Danville, Pennsylvania, when that truck full of monkeys crashed and they got loose for several days? Those monkeys were supposedly carrying some kind of virus, and the whole town was on edge while they ran around before finally being caught. Wild times.

Well, it’s happening again, this time in Mississippi.

Authorities there say several monkeys “have been destroyed,” but three are still on the loose after a truck carrying them crashed on Tuesday.

At first, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department posted on Facebook that the rhesus monkeys were carrying Hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID, and were considered aggressive toward humans … meaning anyone handling them needed to wear protective gear.

But later, the sheriff’s office clarified those comments with a statement from Tulane University, confirming the monkeys were not infected after all.

Tulane University says they’ll be sending a team tomorrow to collect the remaining monkeys still in cages.

As of right now, police say three monkeys are still on the loose.

May God have mercy on Jamaica

Jamaica is now feeling the full fury of Hurricane Melissa. This is one of the most powerful storms the island has ever faced—and very likely the strongest of 2025. The eye has crossed onto land, and what is unfolding will be etched into the record books.

Wind-speeds have surged into the 175 mph range, with reconnaissance aircraft recording values near 185 mph and a central pressure dropping to 892 millibars—figures that place Melissa among the strongest Atlantic hurricanes ever documented.

What happens now is waiting — and enduring. The eye has taken hold: the damage is being done right now. This is a long-duration event. The storm’s force, its rains, surge, and winds will leave a mark long after its passage. Homes will be flattened, people displaced, infrastructure gutted. Many lives will be forever changed.

If you’re reading this while the storm is underway: stop what you’re doing, offer a prayer for Jamaica. The island is going through a life-changing event. It will never be the same.

  • Politics and pop culture collide again as Halo memes being used for recruitment

Politics and pop culture collide again as Halo memes being used for recruitment

📣 When the White House Borrows from Halo: A Recruitment Gambit That’s Both Brilliant and Unnerving

So here’s a wild one for you. Imagine this: the powers that be in the White House, or at least whoever’s running their social media playbook , decide to roll out a recruitment campaign for ICE and Homeland Security. And what do they use to get people’s attention? An image straight out of Halo…the Flood, that creepy parasitic alien menace.

Now, let’s break this down a bit, because there’s a lot going on here. On one level, it’s actually a pretty clever piece of marketing if you think about who they’re targeting. They’re obviously aiming at a certain demographic.. people who grew up on Halo, who understand the reference, and who might feel a little secret thrill of recognition. It’s like a hidden message just for them: “Hey, you know what the Flood is? Then you get what we’re talking about.”

But on the flip side, and this is where it gets shaky, it’s also a little unnerving. They’re turning a fictional alien invasion that consumes everything in its path into a metaphor for real human beings. And let’s be honest, it’s not exactly a flattering metaphor. It kind of puts a militarized target on people, and that’s where it gets ethically murky.

It also tells you a lot about the Trump-era approach to media and marketing. They took what Obama did with social media back in 2008 and cranked it up to eleven. They know how to dominate the internet game and how to get attention.. good press, bad press, it all keeps them in the spotlight. And this is just another example of that: using a piece of pop culture that resonates with a certain group to send a message that only they’ll fully get.

In the end, it’s a fascinating, if kind of eyebrow-raising, tactic. It shows just how much of a double-edged sword this kind of marketing can be both effective and a little unsettling. And hey, maybe that’s the point. It’s 2025, and this is just another chapter in the ongoing saga of how politics and pop culture keep colliding in the wildest ways.

  • Houston bayou deaths: With bodies pulled from waterways, officials are convinced it’s not the work of a serial killer

Houston bayou deaths: With bodies pulled from waterways, officials are convinced it’s not the work of a serial killer

“Enough is enough of wild speculation.”

Houston Mayor John Whitmire was frustrated as he stood in front of the cameras alongside the police chief last month, trying to dispel the rumors that have cast a veil of anxiety over the vast network of bayous that crisscross his city.

“There is no evidence that there is a serial killer loose on the streets of Houston,” Whitmire said at the news conference..

There’s been a rash of bodies found in the body count actually doubled previous years. People have been speculating that there’s a serial killer on the loose and that’s the reason behind all of this tragedy. Officials are down playing that and saying there’s no evidence of any coordinated or serial killer behavior at this time.

CNN has a good story about this situation you can read here.

  • Melissa goes nuclear

    Melissa goes nuclear

This is developing: MELISSA IS NOW ONE OF THE STRONGEST HURRICANES EVER RECORDED IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN.

The new 2PM update now has sustained winds of 175 mph and gusts approaching 220 mph. Pressure now down to 906 mb.

Catastrophic impacts coming to the Island of Jamaica later tonight.

May God have mercy on Jamaica

    More .. updated..

…241 MPH WIND GUST! One of the strongest wind gusts ever recorded in a hurricane was just measured by hurricane hunters who continue to fly through Melissa tonight. This extreme wind gust was recorded approximately 700 feet above the ocean’s surface; this phenomenon is absolutely terrifying…

  • Frightening weather warning issued as Melissa strengthens

Frightening weather warning issued as Melissa strengthens

We are about (again) to witness weather history..

The National Hurricane Center warned on Saturday, “Melissa is still expected to make landfall in Jamaica as an upper-end Category 4 hurricane, which could be the strongest direct landfall for the island since tropical cyclone record keeping has been made in the Atlantic Basin.”

While Melissa could make landfall as a high-end Category 4 storm or even a Category 5, the practical difference between the two is minimal.

There will be catastrophic winds, rainfall, mudslides and impacts from Melissa, regardless of whether the storm strikes as a Category 4 or 5.

Anyone who did not leave Jamaica now cannot.. the window has closed..

Just look at this nightmare as it spins..

    https://www.facebook.com/reel/1638441973797872

Earlier Sunday, Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to evacuate immediately.

Speaking ahead of the storm, he warned that many communities may not survive the expected flooding. “It is going to be impossible for us, after all the attempts that we have been making…for us to say to our first responders ‘go out and risk your life,’” McKenzie said.

We are praying and hoping.. but we are fearing we will see some really awful news events coming out of Jamaica in the next several hours and upcoming days and weeks..

Especially when you see a story like this: ONE SOLE PERSON leaving an Port Royal as the residents chose to stay back and weather the storm.. May God have mercy on their souls..

    More..

Strong wording from the National Hurricane Center for Jamaica ahead of Hurricane Melissa:

“Do not venture out of your safe shelter. Catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding and numerous landslides are likely today through Tuesday. Destructive winds, especially in the mountains, will begin by this evening, leading to extensive infrastructural damage, long-lasting power and communication outages, and isolated communities. Life-threatening storm surge and
damaging waves are expected along the southern coast through Tuesday.”

  • Hurricane Melissa shock: Strengthens from tropical storm to major hurricane in hours

Hurricane Melissa shock: Strengthens from tropical storm to major hurricane in hours

In just 18 hours Melissa has rapidly intensified from a 70 MPH Tropical Storm to a 140 MPH Cat. 4 hurricane–at least at the time this is written. It is undoubtedly going to zoom to a Cat. 5 before landfall in Jamaica Tuesday morning.

It is also being predicted that it will be the worst Jamaica has ever experienced..

It would appear that the worst of the fearful predictions are coming true..

Sustained winds of 170+ and gust of 200+ MPH are possible at maximum if it continues at this rate. The highest sustained wind speed ever recorded in the Atlantic basin was 190 MPH from Hurricane Allen in 1980.

Watching this storm in motion is frightening..

Where does she go from here?
There are models now coming together..

  • Scary Disney: October is deadly at the Happiest Place on Earth

Scary Disney: October is deadly at the Happiest Place on Earth

It’s been a grim October for the so-called Happiest Place on Earth.

In a TikTok video posted Thursday morning, you can see a heavy police presence near a taped-off pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Florida. The user who posted the video wrote, “We were told it was a medical emergency. Prayers to the family & those involved.”

Later, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office in Orlando confirmed the death to TMZ, saying, “We are still in the process of completing our exams” on the deceased.

This marks the third death on Disney property in just over a week — following a reported suicide on October 14, also at the Contemporary Resort, and another body discovered at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground on October 21.

And if that wasn’t unsettling enough, back in early October, a person was found unresponsive inside the Haunted Mansion ride and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

It’s safe to say that this has not been a magical October for Disney.

But this is not the first dark time for the park..

For a park that gets so many a year, it would be inevitable that some not such great things happen from time to time..

The park’s first death happened three years after its grand opening in 1974 when a light bulb filament ignited fumes from glue being used by a 49-year-old carpenter Robert Marshall as he was repairing a boat, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Four-year-old Joel Goode tragically drowned in 1977 after falling into the moat that surrounds Disney’s iconic Cinderella’s Castle. The boy’s parents successfully sued Disney for $4 million, but jurors determined Goode’s parents were partially liable and halved the payout o $2 million, according to the Tampa Times.

11-year-old Long Island boy Robert Johnson Jr., contracted a brain-eating amoebic infection after swimming in the lukewarm, unchlorinated River Country water park.

River Country — permanently closed in 2001 — claimed two others by drowning, one of the park’s most common causes of death.

In 1987, a 6-year-old boy drowned in a crowded swimming pool at the park. The family later sued, claiming there should have been more lifeguards on duty, and Disney settled for $250,000, according to reports.

Lane Graves, 2, was attacked by an alligator on the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The gator pulled the boy into the water, and his body was recovered the following day.

Perhaps the most bizarre death: when Javier Cruz, a cast member wearing a Pluto costume, was run over by the “Beauty and the Beast” float during the Share a Dream Come True Parade in 2014.

One of the deadliest years was 1982, when a 2-year-old girl was hit in the head with a hanging menu board; a 36-year-old woman collapsed at the Polynesian Village Resort; and a 1-year-old girl fell from a moving tram.

In 1989, Long Island woman Patricia Schenck, 33, was killed when the small speed boat she was piloting broadsided a ferry in the Seven Seas Lagoon.

In 1984, South Carolina’s Gary and Dorine Newell, and their infant daughter, Stephanie, died when the single-engine Piper plane they were flying in crashed while attempting an emergency landing in the EPCOT Center parking lot. Then, in 1987, Rick Harper, a 27-year-old cast member, died when the ultralight plane he was piloting crashed during a rehearsal for EPCOT’s “Skyleidoscope” show.

In 2000, a 37-year-old man was struck and killed by the Magic Kingdom Skyway. Ten years later, Massachusetts man Robert Krueger, 69, stepped in front of a Disney bus in the parking lot of Port Orleans Resort.

All of these past heartbreaking moments have us revisiting an old REDDIT thread that asks if people think Disney is a really eerie place..

But.. it is a scary world after all..

  • Hurricane Melissa to explode in strength

Hurricane Melissa to explode in strength

This looks too br a recipe for a disaster over certain parts of the CARRIBEAN…

Tropical Storm Melissa is forecast to rapily intensify into a major hurricane this weekend as it lashes Jamaica and parts of the northern Caribbean, bringing days of life-threatening, potentially catastrophic impact.

    More..

Jamaica looks to be the epicenter for the worst of Melissa’s triple threat of extreme rainfall flooding, wind damage and storm surge. Melissa could make landfall on Jamaica late Monday or early Tuesday. Haiti also continues to be in thick of Melissa’s destructive flood and landslide threats.

    Developing..

  • So.. the fix really is in!

So.. the fix really is in!

Just when you thought sports were all honest, all moral and aboveboard — you were wrong. And if you knew that already, you were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Because this latest story suggests a mountain of issues lies beneath.

The head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Chauncey Billups, and a player for the Miami Heat, Terry Rozier, were arrested Thursday — along with more than 30 other people — as part of two sprawling criminal cases. One case alleges a vast scheme to manipulate underground poker games backed by Mafia families. The other involves illegal sports-betting operations tapping into insider NBA information.

Billups is charged in the poker-game scheme; Rozier is accused in the sports-betting scheme using private NBA info. Both face wire-fraud and money-laundering conspiracy charges.

This doesn’t just raise questions — it sets off alarm bells. Because if major figures in professional sports are allegedly part of this kind of corruption, what else might be going on behind the scenes?

We will keep following this one. But we think it’s going to be developing quite a bit.

No, better time than now than read this book!!
