Mystery of Forest Grove, Oregon, Noise May Never Be Solved – NBC News:

    This from Nbc News:

A piercing noise that plagued an Oregon city earlier this year, drawing comparisons to “Satan’s teakettle” and hypothesized to be everything from a defective water valve to aliens or a signal for the end of times, stopped as suddenly as it started. In the silence left behind, it appears the mystery may live on forever.

The town of 22,000 or so was put on the map this year because of the now famous noise. A noise gay suddenly has vanished from the ears..

Originally there were allegations that teenagers were playing pranks. Other world explanations soon became linked to the sounds.

With all the explanations rendered, no one could ever explain fully what was being heard.

And now maybe no one will.
    The noise suddenly ceases…

I smell a future in Hollywood for the Forest Grove mystery..

Facebook’s director of product design on why websites may be a dying business

Facebook’s director of product design on why websites may be a dying business:

That’s different than the work we were doing in the mid-2000s. We were trying everything — this is the Myspace era — we were just going crazy. I think we had to go through that phase and I think we’re going to go through that phase with [virtual reality]. There’s going to be a bunch of things we’re going to try that will turn out not be the thing we end up with.

When it comes to web and mobile, we’ve passed through that and we’re in a phase where it’s about standardisation. It’s about creating consistent experience.

Standardized experiences.. Isn’t that a little scary though? Or at least vacant individuality and expression?

There’s a vast number of younger people on Tumblr and WordPress who may say otherwise. Some of their sites look as horrid as Geocities sites from the 90s–but they express who they are without worry to the reader’s eyes. I appreciate that.

I know the trend is Facebook. Zuckerberg’s empire watches your every movie and predicts the next. And we seem fine with that. Fully accepting of the limitless amount of surveillance that comes with the Information Age.
Facebook forced us to ditch anonymity in favor of reckless online endeavors where our names and faces are forever associated with asinine comments or unfunny joke memes brewed up on 4Chan.

    And standardized.
Every site looks so similar that the similarity is killing websites. Destruction at the hands of cookie cutter designs.
Standardized and bastardized for The future to download.

Modern modern readers, but give me MySpace any day.

James Wan on what makes a good horror movie

    http://ift.tt/20OvQxh:

Don’t be too shocked by what they are.. You may actually realize they match what makes a good STORY or movie in general.

Nonetheless, Jakarta Post figured it was breaking news worthy enough of posting a link.. and I will share too since it has to do with James Wan.

    The list, as follows:

    Characters that people care about.
The cases should be relatable to the audience.
The sound design. (Just like IT FOLLOWS, one of the best.)
    Atmosphere.
    And good story.

Think of your favorite films or TV shows. They all have the above. Even comedies.

“Game-Changing” Study Links Cellphone Radiation to Cancer :

    The study was on rats..
The radiation received was similar to what humans get… Even more, when radiation in increased the cancer did as well..

Debate renewed today over the safety of the devices we have grown virtually rurally wear on some part of our bodies..

but doesn’t it make some logical sense ?

Ever feel the phantom vibration in your muscle near where you keep your phone? Ever wonder how ‘normal’ that was ??
Maybe normal in the sense that the object of desire we have grown to love is dangerous and undesirable ..

Woman found to harbor infection resistant to antibiotic of last resort:

For the first time, doctors have diagnosed an American with an infection that can’t be treated with an antibiotic of last resort, an ominous development in the battle against antibiotic resistance.

Defense Department researchers diagnosed the infection in a 49-year-old woman with symptoms of a urinary tract infection who visited a clinic in Pennsylvania in April. Doctors sent her lab sample to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md..

This is a worst case scenario, according to a number of people in the medical field.. a time ahead in which bacteria is immune to all treatment.

No word on who the person is.. where, besides PA.. and what the status of the condition is.

Egypt air flight 804 vanishes from radar

This is a hard developing story..

    Known so far:

The flight left Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport at 11:09 p.m. local time and was supposed to land in Cairo at 3.15 a.m. Thursday. Both the departure and arrival cities are in the same time zone.

    — It vanished 10 miles into Egyptian airspace, the airline said.

–The plane’s captain had 6,000 flying hours while the first officer had 4,000, Adel said.

–The Egyptian navy is conducting search and rescue operations in the area it vanished, CNN’s Ian Lee said from Cairo. Armed forces are searching the area 40 miles north of Egyptian coastline.

    — There was no special cargo on the flight and no notification of any dangerous goods aboard, Adel said.

    — The plane entered EgyptAir’s service on November 3, 2003, he added.

  • Soft target terror

    Soft target terror

The images from Belgium are harrowing.. The nation feared terror for since and especially since Paris.. The arrest of the Paris attack mastermind didn’t help alleviate anything. And now today’s 8am morning rush hour double bombings of a subway system and airport in Brussels is being viewed by some as a response to the Friday arrest..
Clear at this point: Belgium and other European cities and nations are on lockdown.. People are being warned to avoid public gatherings.. The train connecting nation shut down..

The story and situation is developing.. With every passing moment more complications on the geo political sphere and in the world of open borders..
