Katie Domingue told The Daily Advertiser newspaper that “an older white man” began shooting about 20 minutes into the movie.
“He wasn’t saying anything,” Domingue said. “I didn’t hear anybody screaming, either.”

Early this morning there was a 4.0 quake felt far and wide around the city of San Francisco. It rattled nerves more than buildings or ground.. But even scarier than a little rattle would be a bigger shake.
That bigger shake, a geologist says, will happen any day now.
The fault line in question is the Hayward Fault.. Bay area residents, the geologist said, should be ready for a natural disaster that could change landscape and lives.
CBS in the Bay Area interviewed geologist Tom Brocher.. Among the words from the station that may be heeded:
“We keep a close eye on the Hayward Fault because it does sit in the heart of the Bay Area and when we do get a big earthquake on it, it’s going to have a big impact on the entire Bay Area,” Brocher said.
While a 2008 report put the probability of a 6.7-magnitude or larger earthquake on the Hayward-Rodgers Creek Fault system over the next 30 years at 31 percent, Brocher said the reality is a major quake is expected on the fault “any day now.”
“The past five major earthquakes on the fault have been about 140 years apart, and now we’re 147 years from that 1868 earthquake, so we definitely feel that could happen any time,” Brocher said.
Brocher urged residents to take steps to prepare for a major earthquake.

Los Angeles police were dispatched about 5:20 a.m. to the 9000 block of Oak Pass Road and discovered a man who had been removed from the pool and was being treated by paramedics, said Sgt. A. Bone of the Los Angeles Police Department.

More than 5,000 people near Knoxville, Tennessee, have been evacuated after a freight train carrying “highly flammable and toxic gas” derailed and caught fire on Thursday morning.
Seven firefighters have been taken to hospital after breathing in fumes from the blaze, while a 1-mile evacuation zone has been put in place around where the train came off the tracks.

American investigators believe they can trace the breach to the Chinese government. Hackers working for the Chinese military are believed to be compiling a massive database of Americans, intelligence officials told CNN on Thursday night.
It is not clear what the purpose of the database is.
Employees of the legislative and judicial branches, and uniformed military personnel, were not affected.
There are currently 2.7 million federal executive branch employees – it’s unclear if this affected every single one (plus former employees), or only a portion.
A database…being put together by China.. just as the Obama Administration is set to hand even more private data over to China and other states with a secret trade agreement that the world only is able to read thanks to Wikileaks..

SEPTA Says Commuter Train Hit By Projectile Just Before Amtrak Train Derailed »

SEPTA spokeswoman Jerri Williams says they don’t know what the projectile was. It broke the engineer’s window around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday near SEPTA’s North Philadelphia station. No injuries were reported.
Williams says the Trenton-bound commuter train was stopped and the incident was being investigated when the Amtrak derailment happened about 3½ miles away.
There is no indication, we are told in reports, that this projectile had anything to do with the Amtrak crash in Philadelphia.. But that may not be enough to quell the numerous questions that will arise as this situation develops..
Also, the ‘black boxes’ have been recovered and have been taken to Delaware for investigation, according to JON HURDLE and RICHARD PÉREZ-PEÑA of the NEW YORK TIMES..

The world is paying close attention to the breaking news events taking place in Sydney Australia today.. Several hours ago, a hostage situation developed at a cafe in the city.. A gunman has at least 10 hostages–several have escaped since the high tension began .. Police are said to know the name of the suspect–as do various media sources, but officials are asking the free press to keep a lid on some information for the time being..

At this point, some word has escaped the cafe.. The hostage taker, we have learned, is of Middle Eastern background and has apparently asking for an ISIS flag in exchange for a hostage.. Even more, the man is forcing hostages to stand with their faces and bodies pressed against a glass window of the cafe for several hours at a time.
As nightfall descends on Australia, the gunman and hostages are not in the dark–a hostage reportedly turned off the lights. No doubt by order of the captor..
The White House is updating President Obama on the situation and the United States is offering any help to Australia that may be afforded as this crisis continues into the dark of night..
At this time the situation has been ongoing for 12 hours .. While some ‘in the know’ do in fact know, very little has been disclosed to the masses of people across the planet waiting for something to occur to end this nightmare for those inside..

Sheik Man Haron Monis, an Islamic ‘spiritual healer’ who is facing charges of sexual assault and being an accessory to murder, has been identified as the man who has taken civilians hostage in a Sydney café, according to local media citing police sources.
“There’s no operational reason for that name to be held back by us now,” an anonymous police source told Reuters.
The Iranian-born 50-year-old fled to Australia in 1996, but came to prominence after 2007, when he began sending “hate mail” to families of soldiers, who died while fighting in Iraq.
If the named man is the suspect in this situation, then he comes with a record of ‘peace’ but a reality of problems. He made news back in April of this year as well..

In December last year, Monis was accused of helping his current partner, Amirah Droudis, to murder his ex-wife, Noleen Hayson Pal. The woman had been stabbed several times and set alight in a Sydney apartment in April 2013

And according to what we know, the gunman has been asking hostages to publicize his demands by trying to force them into speaking with broadcasters and radio show hosts..
The social media world is following, as would be obvious. Since 9:45 am in Sydney, a campaign on social media has emerged quickly called “illridewithyou”.. The notion is that people in the city will peacefully ride with Muslims on transportation as a show of moral support and tolerance..
This is a crisis with about as many different tentacles as you can imagine.
They are playing out on live TV. They are playing out online.. They are playing out before the world’s eyes..
And even more, if this gunman has an affiliation, no matter how loose it could be, with ISIS, the game gets more intense..
