Joe Rogan responds to Spotify controversy

For days, headlines have been written in media circles concerning the war between Neil Diamond, and now Joni Mitchell, and Joe Rogan. Diamond and Mitchell both have stated they want their music off of the streaming service Spotify because of controversial broadcasts from Rogan.

Rogan has been embroiled in some form of COVID-19 controversy since he came down with a virus, it was lampoon by media outlets for using ivermectin during his recovery.

Recently he had some controversial guests who did not say the same thing about the pandemic that other main stream sources say. In response, and he called for Rogan to be silenced and censored from the streaming service all together.

Rogan responded to the fallout on Sunday, saying in a video on Instagram that he was only seeking to have conversations on his podcast with people who have “differing opinions.”

“I’m not trying to promote misinformation, I’m not trying to be controversial,” Rogan said. “I’ve never tried to do anything with this podcast other than to just talk to people.”

He also said that he schedules the guests on his podcast himself, and that he would try to book doctors with different opinions right after he talks to “the controversial ones.” Rogan noted that he earlier sat down on the show with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the chief medical correspondent for CNN, Dr. Michael Osterholm, who is a member of President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board, and Dr. Peter Hotez from Baylor College of Medicine.

New data emerges: Those who recovered from Covid were less likely than vaccinated to get infected during Delta!

New data released Wednesday showed that both vaccination and prior infection offered strong protection against infection and hospitalization from Covid-19 during the Delta wave — and that case and hospitalization rates were actually lower among people who had recovered from Covid-19 than among those who had been vaccinated.

The data, released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and health agencies in California and New York, are sure to inflame arguments from those who insist they don’t need to be vaccinated if they can show they’ve recovered from Covid-19.

But the data contain many caveats that health officials stressed pointed to the value of vaccination, even on top of prior infection.

Models show that the US faces a wave of omicron deaths in the coming weeks

The fast-moving omicron variant may cause less severe disease on average, but COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. are climbing and modelers forecast 50,000 to 300,000 more Americans could die by the time the wave subsides in mid-March.

The seven-day rolling average for daily new COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. has been trending upward since mid-November, reaching nearly 1,700 on Jan. 17 — still below the peak of 3,300 in January 2021. COVID-19 deaths among nursing home residents started rising slightly two weeks ago, although still at a rate 10 times less than last year before most residents were vaccinated.
