  • The family of He-Man’s creator is looking for help

The family of He-Man’s creator is looking for help

TMZ was the first to report this really tragic news yesterday.

Roger Sweet — the toy designer who created the He-Man character for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in the 1980s — is suffering from dementia, and according to his wife, he’s unable to afford the necessary care.

Marlene Sweet, who has been married to Roger for nearly 40 years, launched a GoFundMe to help with the $10,200-a-month bill for Roger’s memory care facility. According to reports, he took a pretty bad fall at the age of 91, and dementia was already complicating the situation.

Anyone who has been connected to this disease or has seen it in their own family knows the pain, the tribulation, and the long wind of dementia blowing through the minds of people with Alzheimer’s. It’s very unfortunate. Very sad. And in this case, it feels even sadder because of the amount of joy his creation of He-Man brought to a few generations of people.

This is on the Go Fund Me:

My husband, Roger Sweet, is the creator of HE-MAN and MASTERS of the UNIVERSE. He was a toy designer at Mattel for over 15 years. Roger designed and named the original He-Man character, and worked for years with other designers to create all the other characters and playsets that enthralled kids for so many years – and still do today!

Over the years Roger was invited to and attended multiple COMICON conventions. He always loved talking about HE-MAN and MASTERS with all the fans! I was able to accompany him to several, and it was fun to see him interacting with HE-MAN fans.

We have been married for nearly 40 years. When we got married, the designers in the HE-MAN group “built” us a plaster wedding cake, with “HE-MAN TAKES MARLENE FOR HIS BRIDE” written on the side, and HE-MAN dressed for a wedding (with his bride holding all the weapons) for the cake topper! Very clever guys!!!

Roger is now nearly 91 years old and sadly has dementia. His illness has continued to progress, and I have done all I can to take care of his needs at home. He recently went for a walk and returned much later than usual and very tired. I discovered terrible bruising on his side and much disorientation, and when asked what happened he did not recall falling and getting this injury. The doctor sent him to the ER, and after 4 hours of tests they discovered he had two brain bleeds along with the massive bruising on his side. He was admitted to the ICU where he stayed for 3 days, then 4 more days in the main hospital, sleeping most of the time and continuing to be very disoriented, along with refusing to stay put and trying to go walking about. The doctors consider him a high risk for falls and say he must use a walker, considering the dementia and brain bleeds, but he says he does not need it and continues to walk around in his confused state.

They decided he must live in a Memory care facility, where he can be monitored and safe. He is now at our chosen care facility and is settling in. He has only been there a few days and his mental decline is sadly continuing. It is devastating to see this happening. Unfortunately these care facilities are not covered by Medicare, and the cost for a patient in his condition is $10,200 a month, well above our monthly income.

So I am reaching out to all the HE-MAN fans for help with these bills. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will ease the burden of this new expense.

Sweet’s design work helped shape an entire era of toys and animation that still resonates with fans today.
The He-Man fan base is pretty strong. Perhaps they’ll step up and assist in this case because of the amount of joy this man brought into their lives.

The only thing we can do right now is hope and pray that the family finds some relief — and some peace — during what has to be an incredibly difficult time.

  • Flanagan will have a different Mist Twist

Flanagan will have a different Mist Twist

You know the story, the Stephen King book and movie about the main Town swallowed by a strange mist. And if you saw the movie you remember the Terrible ending. Mike Flanagan is poised and ready to remake the film and push it in a new direction.

In a series of posts on BlueSky, he said that his adaptation is going to be different from what people already saw and he’s going to go his own way. Everywhere Mike Flanagan goes we actually follow.

The Mist is going to be great. If there wasn’t an excellent answer to why, I wouldn’t do it.” He continues in a follow-up post, “I love Darabont’s film, and there’s zero point in remaking it. Which is why I’m going in a different direction.”

He wrote further, “This isn’t a retread. The differences start page 1.”

“And FWIW, I got the same ‘but why’ comments for Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, House of Usher, Carrie, The Exorcist, even Ouija: Origin of Evil,” Flanagan said. “Also got it for Life of Chuck. I’ve been lucky so far in my career to only take on projects I’m really excited about.”

This was really exciting and we can’t wait

  • This is going to be a storm to remember

This is going to be a storm to remember

The great Blizzard of 2026– days ago this storm was sailing out to sea without harming anything but fish.. as the week drew to a close, we began to see we were about to continue our toxic relationship with the Winter of 2026..

This time red flashing lights of blizzard warnings are gracing New York City, the state of New Jersey, and parts of Pennsylvania.. warnings are pink .. people are miserable.

And as this storm begins to crank up and bomb out, the snowicane will feature 80 mile per hour gusts to create blizzard conditions..

If there was a storm of the century so far this may be it — enough to bring about the likes of Andre Linoge? That is yet to be seen. But born in sin, come on in..

For posterity.. here is the Blizzard Warning for New York City–something that is rare…

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6
    PM EST MONDAY...

    * WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
between 16 and 24 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

    * WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut and southeast New York.

    * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 6 PM EST Monday.

    * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make
travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. The strong
winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and
could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult
to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce
visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday
    morning and evening commutes.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snow and strongest winds are
    expected tonight into Monday.
  • Obama casually admits aliens!?

    Obama casually admits aliens!?

    yes.. OBAMA ADMITS ALIENS

    This one seems siren worthy!!

Former President Barack Obama said that aliens are real but he has no idea where they are during a podcast appearance released Saturday.

“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them,” Obama told YouTuber Brian Tyler Cowen after he asked him about extraterrestrials.

So they are real.. but haven’t seen them. We are cautious here–perhaps this was not necessarily an admission? Perhaps the wrong use of language.. not careful sentence construction…

But he …said they are real. REAL.

The former president did not offer any further details on what he mean by “real” — and no follow-up questions on the topic were asked — but he used the appearance to cast doubt on several longtime theories as to where they might be.

    MORE..

“But what is true — and I’m actually being serious here — is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are,” he said.

So after all of these years.. did a former president just factually and yet casually announce disclosure?

The former president also addressed the controversies of the day, including the current president posting a video that had a snippet of him and his wife Michelle..

  • The newest information in the vanishing of Nancy Guthrie

The newest information in the vanishing of Nancy Guthrie

The FBI is increasing its reward to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie or an arrest. They described the suspect seen in doorbell footage as a 5’9” – 5’10” tall male with an average build.

    • Multiple gloves found: Evidence recovered by investigators includes multiple gloves. It’s unclear whether authorities believe they were worn by the suspect.

    • Day 12 of investigation: Guthrie’s Tucson neighbors have been asked to submit any footage from doorbell cameras that includes cars and people from about four weeks before the 84-year-old went missing. Meanwhile, “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie shared a home video of her mother, saying “we will never give up on her.”

    Developing.

  • Riddles: Law enforcement has released images of the suspected Nancy

Riddles: Law enforcement has released images of the suspected Nancy

There are new developments today in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie. The FBI has now released surveillance footage of a potential suspect believed to be connected to the case.
According to authorities, the individual was cloaked in a ski mask and dressed in a jacket and pants, wearing black gloves and carrying a backpack.

In the first video shared, the subject can be seen slowly approaching the front door with a hunched posture. The individual appears to look around cautiously before reaching toward the camera and covering it. After stepping back, the person searches the ground briefly, steps off the front porch, and pulls a plant from the lawn.

In a second clip, the plant appears to be placed directly in front of the camera, further obscuring the view. At one point, the individual seems to be holding what looks like a flashlight in their mouth while manipulating the camera.

The timing of this footage release is interesting. It comes just as a Super Bowl advertisement highlighted Ring cameras and their network capabilities, showing how connected doorbell cameras can help locate something as simple as a lost puppy. It was a feel-good ad reminder of how technology can work collectively and is all connected.. we would assume the same exists here ??

In this case, however, it appears the suspect may have been attempting to disable or obstruct a Ring camera .. though clear footage of the individual exists before that effort.

Another detail some viewers have pointed out is the outfit itself. The ski mask and overall appearance have drawn comparisons to the look worn by the Riddler in the 2022 film The Batman. We don’t know the actual color of the clothing from the footage released, but the mask immediately sparked that association for some observers.

And in a strange, almost symbolic twist, the case itself has felt like one long riddle — with ongoing questions, cryptic elements, and unusual developments continuing to surface. The story remains active, and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

    This case continues to unfold.

  • For those who think that Skeletor is the embodiment of toxic masculinity clearly they never met Hordak

For those who think that Skeletor is the embodiment of toxic masculinity clearly they never met Hordak

Skeletor is now being described as “the embodiment of toxic masculinity” in Masters of the Universe, according to director Travis Knight.

Knight says Jared Leto “wanted to swing for the fences” with the iconic villain, adding that the final take is something he’s “really happy with.” These comments come courtesy of an interview in Empire magazine, which also revealed that Masters of the Universe will grace the magazine’s April cover.

And as you’d expect, that quote alone has already sparked some fierce blowback.

A lot of fans immediately bristled at the idea that “wokeness” (yes, that word) is being injected into the film. It’s been a sore subject in the He-Man fanbase for a while now, especially after many accused Kevin Smith of doing exactly that with Netflix’s animated revival. Personally, I didn’t think the first season was bad at all. The second season? Not so much. But the reality is this: the original 1980s concept, as much as we love it, doesn’t fully work anymore. It’s not 1984. And pretending otherwise isn’t exactly honest.

That’s what makes these comments interesting—and potentially risky. Do they actually hurt the Masters of the Universe release? Or does any of this even matter?

Because let’s be honest about the audience. The over-40 crowd is almost certainly the biggest money-maker here. But are they bringing their kids? And do those kids even care?

The toy aisle doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. A lot of Masters of the Universe figures released over the last five years are now heavily discounted. Many Walmart and Target locations have phased them out altogether. You can find Leech at Ross for $4.99—and that should tell you something.
At the same time, people like me still genuinely enjoy the Origins line. I proudly display my collection on the wall. But I’m also aware that I’m in the older demographic now. My son doesn’t seem especially interested in He-Man. He might humor me and go see the movie, but when he watched the trailer, he wasn’t exactly blown away.

Fans also noticed the “he/him” pronouns on the desk during the trailer, which added fuel to the fire. Now, paired with this idea that Skeletor represents toxic masculinity, it’s caused even more debate.
And here’s where I really start scratching my head.

Skeletor… wasn’t toxic. Not really. If anything, he was often portrayed as a clumsy, overconfident boob who could never quite get anything right. There’s even that infamous Christmas special where he becomes a weepy-eyed skeleton at the sight of a scared puppy. That’s not exactly the poster child for hyper-masculine menace.

Yes, the movie version clearly takes him in a darker direction, and the recent animated series gave him more ferocity. But “the embodiment of toxic masculinity”? That feels like a stretch.

There’s also another bizarre part of the quote—the suggestion that Jared Leto has some kind of “history” with the character. What does that even mean? He’s never played Skeletor. Maybe he watched He-Man as a kid. Maybe he had the action figure. So did millions of other people. Skeletor isn’t a real person with a shared backstory—he’s fictional.

And anyone who’s actually an avid He-Man fan knows this: if you’re looking for the true embodiment of toxicity in that universe, it’s not Skeletor at all.
    It’s Hordak.

The real tyrant. The real abuser. The real embodiment of control, domination, and cruelty.

So if the film wants to explore darker themes, fine. If it wants to modernize the mythology, also fine. But mislabeling the characters we’ve known for decades is where the disconnect starts—and where fans start wondering who this movie is really for.

  • Duffer’s tots are waiting for episode 9

Duffer’s tots are waiting for episode 9

The Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, have now been interviewed talking about how they kind of wish they didn’t do interviews immediately after the Season 5 finale aired. At least one of them was fighting off the flu. Give us some slack, they contend.

And maybe that would land better if this wasn’t happening at the exact moment when Conformity Gate is spreading so fast on social media that even news networks are beginning to notice it.
    But here’s the catch.
Despite Conformity Gate fanatics believing,  wholeheartedly,  that a brand-new show and a “real” final episode is coming tomorrow, there’s pretty much no evidence that this is true. As time goes on, there are no trailers. There are hints people are finding in various places, vague Easter eggs, and maybe even a wrestling crossover that might occur tonight — but we have yet to see any proof of a massive, secret finale event.

    Don’t get us wrong.
    It would  fun and fulfilling..
    It would be cutting-edge.
It would be a historic television moment.
But we’re just not seeing the evidence that it’s actually going to come to fruition..

And that takes us back in time,  to another television show that was one of our favorites years ago, and still is today: The Office. You might still be watching it. We are. Its enduring legacy continues through generations.
But there was one specific episode that stands apart.

    Scott’s Tots.

In that episode, Michael Scott, the lovable but delusional boss from Dunder Mifflin, visits a high school in Scranton. Years earlier, he had promised a group of third graders that if they stayed in school and graduated, he would personally pay for their college tuition. The promise became legend. Graduation rates improved. Teachers told the story. Parents believed in it. The students believed in it. When Michael finally arrives, the kids sing him a song, proudly talk about the colleges they’re attending, and explain how his promise inspired them to stay focused, stay motivated, and believe their dreams would be fulfilled — because Michael Scott would come back and make good on what he said.
Except he doesn’t have the money.

    He never did.
And instead of scholarships, all he has to offer are laptop batteries.

The episode is brutal. Painful. Almost unbearable to watch.
We all sat there and winced. Some of us literally covered our faces. It’s widely regarded as one of the most uncomfortable episodes in television history — so much so that many Office fans skip it entirely on rewatches. They know it’s fiction. They know it’s fake. But it’s so well done, so emotionally precise, that we all grimace as Michael sits there desperately trying to figure out what to say to kids who built their futures around his promise.
And that’s where we are now.

Because sometimes, good intentions don’t change how it feels to be on the receiving end of unmet expectations.
So I wonder if the Duffer Brothers are starting to feel something similar.
Listen .. there are tons of rumors floating around. We’re told the last couple of episodes were terrible because one of the Duffer Brothers’ ex-wives supposedly ghost-wrote earlier seasons and wasn’t involved this time. We’re told the writing fell apart. We’re told plot holes exist because the creators simply gave up keeping track of their own mythology.

What we do know is this:
We have a show that many people loved.
We have a show that many people didn’t love.
And we have a rapidly growing segment of fans who believe what we watched wasn’t real at all.
    That it was an illusion.
That it was Conformity at its best ..or worst.
And that a “real” Episode 9 is coming to clear everything up.

We’re waiting with bated breath and anticipation.
Just like the kids waited for Michael Scott to walk into that school and fulfill their dreams.
    So yeah.

    We’re Duffer’s Tots.
    We’ve got songs planned.

    We’re standing in the auditorium.
    We’re watching Netflix refresh.
And predictably  when Episode 9 never uploads  it’s going to feel a lot like watching Michael Scott walk in with laptop batteries and say, “I tried.”
