Paging Paige: Done at the WWE

WWE’S PAIGE FORCED TO END WRESTLING CAREER

PWInsider reports that Paige was told at this past Monday’s RAW that she will not be able to return to the ring. It was noted that she is “done” as a wrestler, and that the situation is similar to Edge’s retirement in 2011 due to a neck injury…

Paige had just returned to WWE in late November after a seventeen month absence due to a neck injury she suffered in June of 2016. During her absence she suffered two Wellness policy suspensions.

Paige was injured during a house show at the Nassau Coliseum on Dec. 27 during a six-woman tag match. She was kicked in the back by Sasha Banks and struggled to get back to her feet after the bump.

ONLINE PETITION FORMED TO STOP ‘SLENDERMAN’

Almost 20,000 people have signed an online petition opposing Sony Pictures’ planned release of a horror movie called “Slender Man,” the character who inspired two Waukesha girls to plot the stabbing death of their sixth-grade classmate in 2014.

Sony released a trailer for the film this week. It is scheduled for release in May.

“This is crass commercialism at its worst,” wrote Alison Perris, who started the petition at Care2

FCC won’t let Trump’s shithole be

The FCC received complaints after NBC and CNN used the word “s—hole” in their coverage of the controversy over comments President Donald Trump reportedly made to lawmakers during a meeting about immigration.

An FCC spokesman said they received a “handful” of comments, but did not have an exact figure yet. The agency does not monitor programming, but reviews each complaint to decide whether to take any type of action.

CNN featured the term on its chyron, and it was also repeated on air multiple times. But the FCC’s jurisdiction over indecency and profanity does not cover cable and satellite programming.x

The word was used once on “NBC Nightly News,” but anchor Lester Holt issued a viewer warning in advance. CBS and ABC chose not to use the word.

The FCC considers a number of factors in whether to act on a complaint, including “context,” and that in the past has included whether it has been a part of news programming. Broadcasters are confident that they would be exempt for using the term in the news context.

THE FLU BOMB: KIDS GET BANNED FROM DETROIT HOSPITAL!

The worst flu since the early 2000s strikes

he entire continental United States is experiencing widespread flu right now, the first time in the 13 years of the current tracking system that that has happened, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Officials said that this flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst in recent years.
The rate of flu hospitalizations — the number of people hospitalized with flu per 100,000 — nearly doubled last week compared with the previous week. Last week it was 22.7 per 100,000 people; the week before that rate was 13.7.
All of that prompted metro Detroit’s Beaumont hospital chain to take an unusual step Friday afternoon: banning visits from children under 13 until the flu season subsides.
“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said a news release from Beaumont Health System, which operates eight major hospitals in southeast Michigan.
“All Beaumont Health hospitals are experiencing high volumes of patients with respiratory viral illnesses, predominantly influenza,” the release said.
“For the safety of our patients and staff, visitation by children under 13 years of age is limited to extraordinary circumstances, such as severe illness of a parent or sibling, or end-of-life situation.”
Even if children are not obviously sick, they shouldn’t visit a hospital because they could be carriers of the influenza virus, said Dr. Christopher Carpenter, section head of infectious diseases at Royal Oak-Beaumont Hospital.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (WFLA) — While the rest of us were debating where to abandon our trees, one woman decided to take her’s back for a refund.
So come January, the woman reportedly wanted her money back for her once lively Christmas tree because it was now dead.
Customers at the Costco in the suburbs of Los Angeles were blown away, and one man couldn’t help but post the rest of the details on Facebook.
  • ‘ROSEANNE’ is pro-Trump!?

    ‘ROSEANNE’ is pro-Trump!?

Let’s quickly get one thing out of the way. I am not writing this piece to defend Roseanne Barr, who regularly shares outlandish conspiracy theories, has described herself as mentally ill, once ran as a liberal green third-party candidate for president, and even maybe-ironically dressed as Hitler and pretended to eat “Jew-cookies” once. Yes, really. Her politics are entirely incoherent and often genuinely offensive, and I see no reason to take them seriously.
That said, Barr did show some real insight when she predicted the show’s relevance in the age of Trump, saying,“As soon as I saw the election results, I knew we’d be back.”
I’m a little young to be nostalgic for “Roseanne” since it went off the air when I was three years old, but Amy Zimmerman of The Daily Beast praised it as having “changed television for the better, featuring a realistic American family, relatable financial troubles, believable gay characters and overweight protagonists who weren’t written as punchlines.” In comparison to the more aspirational sitcoms I remember from that time, like “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Full House”—or even “Friends,” in which the characters’ finances are more of a punchlinethan a genuine source of anxiety—I can certainly understand why an honest look at a blue-collar, working-class, Midwestern family could be groundbreaking.

  • Weinstein attacked at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort!

Weinstein attacked at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort!

TMZ is reporting tonight in fresh runs:

At around 9 PM, Weinstein and his sober coach got up to leave at the same time Steve and his dinner companion were leaving. Steve tells TMZ he had “quite a bit to drink,” told his friend to fire up his cell phone and shoot video of what was about to happen.
Steve says he walked up to Weinstein and said, “You’re such a piece of s*** for what you did to these women,” and then punched him in the face twice. He says Weinstein stumbled backward and almost fell.
A restaurant manager says neither attempted punch connected, and the guy was drunk and out of control.

Both sides agree … the person who filmed the incident asked Weinstein if he wanted to call the police, but Weinstein declined and everyone left the restaurant.

  • The Logan Paul effect: YouTube looking at “further consequences”. .. could have far-reaching effect on horror community

The Logan Paul effect: YouTube looking at “further consequences”. .. could have far-reaching effect on horror community

After several days for public outrage and an outcry to YouTube to better police material uploaded to the site, the went company has weighed in.. The effect? It may be more far reaching than just dealing with the suicide forest video presented by the 15 million subscription strong YouTuber.

    From their TWITTER feed:

The vague commentary including “we are looking at further consequences” has alarmed some in the horror community who either report on real events or write and produce fiction..

REIGN BOT has been on of my personal favorites on YouTube for years–her videos normally contain the back story to creepy or real events taking place across the net, or the world. Often her channel has featured “things you should not Google” type videos, often which have proven to be very popular.
And today she is taking them down. From her Twitter feed:

There are concerns here that people who create amazing content should have. Like REIGN BOT said, the announcement was troubling and vague. It is not giving credible guidance to creators who harbor a large fan base and don’t intentionally set out to ruin the innocence of children or people’s lives…
MR NIGHTMARE, who tells horror stories, and many others could potentially see a future where their videos are flagged.   Even You Tube channels run by people as harmless as the “FGTEEV” family and DanTDM have been hit with warnings over videos featuring what YouTube deemed as violence and words that children should not see. That coupled with political dissidents like conservative commentator Mark Dice having videos removed on a regular basis, things are getting a little strange at You Tube..
The Logan Paul mania has been quelched a bit.. He has seemingly vanished from the headlines as much as he has from You Tube. But the dangling body he filmed in the famed Japan suicide forest is still haunting creators. People who don’t do anything appalling like Paul did, people who don’t showcase and mock dead corpses, people who actually respect the dead and paranormal in the universe, could now face a future where their videos will be flagged, removed, and their accounts either demonetized or deleted.
