New alarm in France: Covid variant of “atypical combination” with 46 mutations and 37 deletions in southern France after index case returned from Cameroon

Emergence in Southern France of a new SARS-CoV-2 variant of probably Cameroonian origin harbouring both substitutions N501Y and E484K in the spike protein

What makes it slightly worrisome is that the peers the cases are now being found not just in France but also the United Kingdom. This at a time when Omicron should be snuffing out any competing variance completely.
