Nancy wants to fight Freddy one more time

And we all want her to as well..

As being reported in various sources including Bloody Disgusting, Heather Langenkamp has commented that she wants to fight Freddy one more time.. she made the comments doing publicity for the new Michael Flanagan Netflix series Midnight Club..

However we all may stay ‘dreamers’ .. as she points out, it’s one of those things that just in complicated in Hollywood.

  • Laurie Strode’s 44 years of trauma

Laurie Strode’s 44 years of trauma

Very interesting and deep perspective from Jamie Lee Curtis on what the popularity of Laurie Strode has meant..

    He writes:

For those Halloween @halloweenmovie fans out there. You might have heard the story and if so I apologize but since it’s all coming to an end I thought I would share it. When I work on anything I like people to wear name tag so that we all get to know each other and I can know people’s names since most people know mine and my job I don’t know theirs and their job. We did it on Halloween 2018 and all of the Halloween films. My last day of shooting of the 2018 Halloween was a scene of Laurie Strode, alone in a truck watching Michael Myers leave for the Supermax prison that he would be ensconced in for the rest of his days. It was a scene with no dialogue and it just said that Laurie is in the truck with a gun and some alcohol and she is remembering and reliving the past 40 years of trauma and sadness and loss and rage and grief. When they came to get me to shoot that scene as I arrived on site the entire crew was standing silent with their hands behind their back’s in silent solidarity with Jamie for what she was about to act as Laurie and the entire crew were all wearing this name tag. What they were saying, which audiences have said now for 44 years, is that they were with me, with Laurie and her struggles and that she and I were not alone. If there’s a ending message to all of these movies it is that Laurie Strode represented never giving up. Cue Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
    Don’t give up.
    No matter what.
Thank you and I love you and thank you @bryantology for sending me this this morning to remind me.

Halloween Ends—we think—this coming weekend in theaters and Peacock..

    Angela Lansbury dead at 96..

It is very interesting to consider that, while podcasts today have promoted this true crime fascination, it really could’ve began with Murder She Wrote back in the 20th century. It was cutting edge and must see TV. And I left an indelible mark on society and Pop culture

She has a very accomplished career but seemingly is defined by the famous program..

May she rest in peace ..

  • NIKKI FINKE DEAD

    NIKKI FINKE DEAD

TINSELTOWN, FOR ALL ITS MIGHT, OFTEN SUCCUMBED TO THE INFORMATION THAT NIKKE FINKE KNEW AND REPORTED..

The site she founded, DEADLINE, was a must go..

She often reminded me of the real life version of Gale Weathers, the news reporter from SCREAM.

She was there for most gossipy of gossips.. the most scandalous of scandals. Drudge linked to her often and gave her a siren or two..

Finke was hated as much as she was appreciated. And few that followed her even liked her! She was just pleasant type of person. 🙂

As one reporter for the LA TIMES described her in 2014, stating that people should not fat shame her:

When I do read her, I see that she can be nasty, abrasive and vindictive. I see that she trumpets “exclusives” that are no such thing. She is a prolific name-caller, a practice that is beneath the dignity of such a talented writer. She is not snarky, the way Perez Hilton was before he got nice. She is frankly bilious.

Now she has passed away from the grip of this planet..

    Nikki Finke dead.

    Hollywood probably relieved ..

This is how the AP reported it:

Veteran journalist Nikki Finke, who founded the entertainment trade site Deadline and who in her heyday was an elbows-out columnist serving up juicy industry scoops and gossip skewering Hollywood’s elite, has died at age 68.

According to a family representative, Finke died Sunday morning in Boca Raton, Fla., after a prolonged illness.

Finke was revered and feared in the industry for exposing secrets, first through her L.A. Weekly column, Deadline Hollywood, which she eventually built into a website.

She founded Deadline Hollywood Daily in 2006 on a Friday and quickly began building her audience by live-blogging the 78th Academy Awards that Sunday. T

he site was largely a one-woman operation until 2009, when Penske Media Corp. acquired it and hired Finke as editor in chief..

Not that Hollywood elites are prone to vicious or dark thoughts, *wink wink,* but we are sure that many are breathing a collective sigh of relief ..

For as many times Nikki Finke gave us a juicy celeb tidbit, she probably took two to the grave with her..

    May she rest in peace..

  • Paypal wants to be your pal again

Paypal wants to be your pal again

    Controversy! Conspiracy!

The company is now being forced to back track after a hubbub arose from some controversial published reports..

    MORE..

PayPal has backtracked on a published policy that would have fined users $2,500 for spreading “misinformation,” claiming the update had gone out “in error.”

“An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” a spokesperson told National Review in a written statement.

The course reversal comes after the policy changes had started to attract media scrutiny as well as criticism on Twitter. Former PayPal president David Marcus even blasted the company over the implication that it could seize customers’ money for finding their views objectionable.

    MORE..

“It’s hard for me to openly criticize a company I used to love and gave so much to. But @PayPal’s new AUP goes against everything I believe in,” the cryptocurrency entrepreneur said Saturday. “A private company now gets to decide to take your money if you say something they disagree with. Insanity.”

Tech titan Elon Musk replied, “Agreed,” in a comment that got thousands of likes.

The policy update had appeared to authorize the company to pull a significant sum of money from the accounts of users who spread “misinformation,” among other newly listed offenses…

There is no way that this was all just an accident — changes like this go through mountains of attorneys and levels of review.. Seriously, who are they kidding?

But let’s just be brutally honest. We have given tech companies unfettered power — we allow them to dictate what we can or can not do. On Facebook we permit their algorithms to develop schemes to limit a post reach. We click on TikTok while it spies with its Mic.. we have become quite acquainted with spying and strange tech powers.

So.. would we just be default be ok with PAYPAL deciding to fine us for misinformation?

    Not today. But maybe tomorrow..

    All things are eventual…

    DEVELOPING..

  • Vermont Town employee quietly lowered fluoride in water for years

Vermont Town employee quietly lowered fluoride in water for years

Residents of a small community in Vermont were blindsided last month by news that one official in their water department quietly lowered fluoride levels nearly four years ago, giving rise to worries about their children’s dental health and transparent government — and highlighting the enduring misinformation around water fluoridation.

Katie Mather, who lives in Richmond, a town of about 4,100 in northwestern Vermont, said at a water commission meeting this week that her dentist recently found her two kids’ first cavities. She acknowledged they eat a lot of sugar, but noted that her dentist recommended against supplemental fluoride because the town’s water should be doing the trick.
    — Read on apnews.com/article/health-vermont-fluoridation-climate-and-environment-375fe7224a329bafb7a6dfa7480b5750

It would actually be very interesting to study the overall effect that this has had on children or residents in the area. While conspiracy theories may exist, it would be fascinating to consider what the differences in dental work has been as a overall compared to when fluoride was being put in in the regular amounts. We are not making any hypothesis at all on this fact, just curious as to what the ramifications have been, good or bad.

Even note that the Associated Press article states that story about the girl having cavities, with a parent admitting that the children had a lot of sugar. It’s difficult to make the assertion that one event of lessening the fluoride lead to the event of more cavities.

It would also be equally interesting to find out how many other locations across America have had the same issue take place. And, here would be an ultimate question for authorities: is this a crime?

On one hand if the water would be spiked or laced with something it would Be.. In this circumstance A lesser amount of chemical is being put into the water. Is that in itself something criminal

  • The Shape ages: The Halloween mask today is sad but haunting

The Shape ages: The Halloween mask today is sad but haunting

A few evenings ago, I stopped at a Spirit Halloween .. But the Spirit was abundant regardless of closed down stores that neighbored it.

It is hard to believe we are traveling quickly into the season of the witch!

Goblins and ghosts are beginning to showcase themselves in windows across our area–the spirit of the season is lit with an orange hue..

As the weather begins to chill and the darkness creeps in once again, the movie HALLOWEEN ENDS is just about ready to get released into theaters along with our hearts and minds.

We have heard some really awful stuff about the film–test screenings that are able to be Google-searched will tell you that audiences were not keen on the movie, so much so that some of it had to change ..

Some loved HALLOWEEN KILLS.. we just kind of got grossed out by it. With the exception of the first few minutes that included a 1970s homage and Dr. Loomis lookalike screaming like he did in the good old days of the 20th century, we didn’t like it much either.

Just imagine an ENTIRE film based on the same night of the first film, well that could have been magic!

    But that mask.. the mask.

No matter the year or generation, just about every kid knows who Michael Myers is..

It is crazy to consider a few things. First off the white pale face of Michael Myers could have been a clown! The Babysitter Killer movie, eventually HALLOWEEN in 1978, actually considered the use of a clown face instead of what we have now.

Legend and lure tells us that some last minute shifts gave us the haunting face we have today. And the haunting face, for the few who still don’t know, is William Shatner.

A 1970s STAR TREK mask was sprayed white, hair torn a bit, and eyes cut larger. It created the most visceral image of HALLOWEEN the movie–and Halloween itself.

The newest Halloween film coming out in mid-October is going to use a mask that is supposed to be the same mask of 40+ years back, along with burn marks from Halloween in 2018. Fans will realize immediately you need to eliminate Halloweens 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 from all of this in order for Halloween, KILLS, and ENDS to make sense.

Take a breather.. you got this.

But it got us to thinking.. with the popularity of the mask itself, whatever happened to the actual real life mask from 1978. The Halloween Hollywood mask that John Carpenter and Debra Hill created?

It’s an interesting and somewhat tragic story when you consider the way history has eroded the fright of the SHAPE’s face..

So let’s go through some quick Halloween history..

We know, and just reminded everyone, that Michael Myers is really William Shatner. Not just Shatner, but William Shatner’s face that was used in another horror film – The Devil’s Rain from 1975..

Yea, that was scary in itself:

So the real mask looked like this after it was painted and dolled up pretty:

The emotionless pale face. As Loomis said, “the darkest eyes. The devil’s eyes.”

In the movie, Nick Castle did a fine job playing the Shape. The movie made certain that the original Halloween kept Castle’s eyes darkened in each scene to illustrate a monster, not a man, wielding the knife killing the teenage babysitters.

Incidentally, Nick Castle is back in the newest 2018-2020- and ENDS trilogy ..

Dick Warlock eventually replaced Nick Castle for John Carpenter’s Halloween 2 (remember, the newest movie ignore Warlock’s incarnation.)

Movie goers at the time noticed something a little off about the mask. It looked yellow. It looked more crunched..

It was for a few reasons.

It was actually the same exact mask–honest, this is what all movie experts tell us. But there were two big differences. Warlock’s face was rounder while Castle’s was longer. That gives you the rationale as to why the shape of the Shape was differing in each film .. but the color?

Halloween 2’s mask looked like it had a deeper hue of yellow. Like it.. was deteriorated somehow?

    It was!

From Debra Hill’s cigarette filled bedroom!!

Here is the story on how the mask went from bright white to a mellow yellow: Debra Hill took the mask home after the first movie wrapped and kept it in a shoe box under her bed for three years where it was exposed to a lot of cigarette smoke which caused the mask to discolor and have more of the yellowish look that we see in part 2..

Stalwart Halloween fans will debate this claim, with some citing references made at movie and horror conventions over the previous ten years to establish a basis for their argument that this Debra Hill smoke did or did not happen. You can do your own research and find your own sources. But it pretty clear: The mask was yellow. Somehow.. and smoke sure made sense. Debra Hill died at a too-young-of-age 54 in 2005–of cancer.

From this point, the masks change. Halloween 3 took us to a different path.. and while Halloween 4 and 5 used the original mask for the posters and VHS sleeves, the mask in the individual movies could not have been more different and even .. ridiculous. The mask became more ridiculous in Halloween 6.. Halloween H20 had a few masks, including a weird CGI mask that just was … stupid?

The original movie, and even the Warlock worn mask in the second, are the best of all of the series. While the newest films are using a prototype of the same original mask, it just isn’t the same, right?

So … here is the big question .. the million dollar one: Where is the original mask, today? Like right now?

We can find information that dates back to 2017 on this (a few years back so who knows what it looks like at the moment?)

In a few year ago, it was not pretty.

Materials that were used to create the mask way back then have deteriorated over the years, the mask is showing its age.

Mark Roberts is the man who has been in possession of that original, screen-used hero mask since 2003.. in 2017, Benjamin Hall interviewed him for Michael-Myers.net .. a few quotes at the time:

I have been building and running haunts for the last 26 years. About 20 years ago I got in contact with an agent who represented Dick Warlock and asked about booking Dick for an appearance at my haunt,” Roberts recalled. “So I set up to have Dick at the haunt and his agent said he had the mask and costume from the movie and would wear it at the appearance. When Dick came to the haunt, he was mad at his agent because he said he does not wear the costume for appearances. He did tell me that he still had the costume, boots, mask, butcher knife and scalpel and that he would sell it; he just didn’t bring them out for appearances.”

    He added:

Dick was great with the haunted house customers and hanging out with Dick and Cathy for the weekend was a lot of fun and it went so well we set it up for him to come back the next year. I’m not sure if it was after the 1st or second year but I called Dick up and we made a deal for me to purchase the mask, costume, boots, scalpel and knife. My wife and I went to Dick’s house and picked up the mask and costume. It really is amazing that Dick thought to keep that stuff and take care of it; when I went to pick it up, he had kept the mask stored in a Elvis Presley tin container.

And this is what the damages look like:

The mask is showing its age.. We have been unable to find relevant sources giving us a real time view of how the Shape is aging..

But it is fair to say, with each passing day, we are aging with it, aren’t we?

    Time beats on..
    One Halloween at a time..

We would love to know what the mask looks like now, like today.. calling Mark Robert.. contact us bryan@horrorreport.com or through our Facebook page if you ever see this post!

    Happy Halloween season 2022.

North Korea fires missile: Japan orders shelter

    War drums loud

The Japanese government says a North Korean missile appears to have flown over Japan and fallen into the ocean.

Officials believe the missile was launched from a location in North Korea at about 7:22 a.m. Japan time.

They said it appeared to be a ballistic missile, and was heading towards Hokkaido and Aomori prefectures in northern Japan.

The Japanese government issued an alert through the nationwide emergency warning system, which sends information to local governments through satellites.

It told people in the areas to take shelter in sturdy buildings or underground.

At 7:46 a.m., officials said the missile may have flown over Japan and fallen into the Pacific Ocean.

They say it appears to have fallen outside of the country’s exclusive economic zone.

It’s the seventh time ever that a ballistic missile has flown over Japan.

The defense ministry says it is the 23rd time that North Korea has test-fired missiles this year. Officials from Japan, the US, and South Korea are monitoring the situation.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio says” We strongly condemn the launch as an outrageous act. In response to it, I have instructed officials to check for possible damage caused by falling objects, to thoroughly collect and analyze information, and cooperate with allies.”

Japan’s largest rail operator halted bullet train service in northern Japan as a precaution.

Transportation officials also issued a warning to air traffic around the country

  • SMILE!! You did well at the box office this weekend

SMILE!! You did well at the box office this weekend

SMILE did great this weekend .. in the United States Box office: $22 mil.. Friday alone fetched in $8.2 mil..

We have this dispatch late Sunday from DEADLINE, explaining that SMILE did pretty well globally, too, at the box office:

Landing the top offshore debut for the studios was Paramount’s Smile with $14.5M from 58 markets, and $36.5M globally. The horror audience grinned in all areas with good word of mouth for the Parker Finn-directed movie that was also tops domestically

Reinforcing that audiences want to go back to the cinema for something fresh, on a like-for-like basis, the offshore start on Smile is 18% above Truth or Dare, 55% ahead of Hereditary and on par with The Black PhoneSmile, whose first footage intrigued exhibition at CineEurope earlier this year, was led by the UK with $2M from 520 locations at No. 2. France was also a No. 2 debut with $1.4M from 303 sites. In horror-leaning Mexico, the movie scored a No. 1 start of $1.1M from 855 locations. Rounding out the Top 5 were Germany ($1M from 316) and Australia ($800K from 206)

We saw the movie this weekend as well. Amazing cinematic effects–the upside down camera angles.. the dreadful music.. the dark hallways that did NOT have something jump out, and the scenes where something did..

    It was all effective.

However there were some less than great things. It felt like a horror movie that turned into a thriller and then back into a horror again, with a twist ending that went right back to the ending that no one seemed to want..

We ended up liking the thriller angle of the film more than the horror. But boy. those jump scares. We thought someone walking down the aisle to go to the bathroom in the theater was going to fall backwards–they chose the scene that featured the jumpiest of the jump scares to walk down the dark steps..

The marketing for the movie was brilliant, with smiling people gracing baseball games and public locations for the past two weeks. Nice move!

But what few are talking about with this is the ‘smile’ concept. It is based on a short horror film.. but it also seems to borrow a lot of the concept of IT FOLLOWS. In that movie, what followed was a sexually transmitted disease and bad reputation. In this film, it is mental illness. We cloud it and hide it with a smile.

I am not sure if the film makers went for a deeper meaning than what we got, but it sure felt like something much more meaningful was hiding under the surface.

    THE WOKE CHOKE

But what did NOT do well this weekend was BROS:

Despite glowing reviews for the Judd Apatow-produced film, Bros has not been a hit at the box office and is estimated to only make $4.8M during its opening weekend, half of what Universal was estimating. Eichner acknowledged that the romantic comedy he stars in isn’t tracking within a certain segment of the population in the country.

Homophobia is the excuse for the film doing poorly..

    More from the DEADLINE article:

“Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore, etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros. And that’s disappointing but it is what it is,” he continued.

The comedian stands by the movie and encouraged “everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo” to go watch Bros.
