    Nuclear fears: Wear your mask!

THE United States’ updated nuclear attack guidelines were mocked for including social distancing and mask-wearing rules.

Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded his nuclear force be put on high alert amid economic sanctions against Moscow… hence the review of policy?

One section on Ready.gov asks Americans to find the nearest building to avoid radiation.

However, the government’s guidelines were dragged by social media users for including Covid protocols.

After seeking shelter in the nearest building, the next step tells Americans to “stay inside for 24 hours unless local authorities provide other instructions.

“Continue to practice social distancing by wearing a mask and by keeping a distance of at least six feet between yourself and people who not part of your household,” the website explains.

Seeing a lot of sunflowers on your news feed?? It is because of the Ukraine/ Russia conflict..

    A brief history..

Sunflowers made their way to Ukraine through the efforts of the early explorers of North America, where it was one of only a few native food crops (along with squash, blueberries and pecans). Seeds were brought back to the old world, and found to grow well in hot, dry places with rich soil, such as the “Black Earth” regions of Ukraine..

Later, Soviet plant breeders developed a line of sunflowers that produces much more oil, and oil of a type that doesn’t go bad when it’s heated to a high temperature. In the 1990s, when the world began to turn away from trans-fats, the new sunflower oil quickly became popular– especially for frying potato chips – and even more fields were planted.

Fast forward to today: A viral video appears to show a Ukrainian woman telling Russian soldiers to put seeds in their pockets so flowers will grow when they die in her country.. A viral video appears to show a Ukrainian woman telling Russian soldiers to put seeds in their pockets so flowers will grow when they die in her country..

Ukrainian soldiers killed in artillery attack near Kharkiv

Russian forces have targeted a military base near Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, killing at least 70 Ukrainian soldiers, local officials say, making it the deadliest attack since the war began.

The attack happened on Monday when Russian artillery hit a military base in Okhtyrka, a small city about 49 kilometers (30 miles) from the border with Russia and 100 kilometers (62 miles) northwest of Kharkiv.

“Bodies continue to be pulled from underneath the rubble,” Dmytro Zhyvytskyy, the head of the Sumy regional administration, said on Tuesday morning. “Places for about 70 dead Ukrainian soldiers are being prepared in the cemetery.”

Other details about Monday’s attack were not immediately known, but Zhyvytskyy released photos and videos which showed that multiple buildings were either destroyed or severely damaged.

“The enemy also got what it deserved,” he added, while showing photos of 4 bodies which he said belonged to Russian soldiers.

Hundreds of soldiers and civilians have been killed since Russia launched a full invasion of Ukraine. The incident in Okhtyrka appears to be the deadliest attack since the war began.

It came amid unconfirmed reports that Russia performed an anti-satellite weapon test

The space junk passes started early Monday, with the ISS making closes passes every 90 minutes

The tests have been criticized by the space community because of the risk they create for crews in low Earth orbit

NASA has not yet commented, but its Russian counterpart Roscomos, downplayed the incident

Tensions between Russia and the West have escalated in recent weeks as Kremlin has been accused of fomenting instability on Belarus-Poland border

American officials have also grown alarmed over satellite images said to show a buildup of Russian military personnel along its frontier with Ukraine

UNITED NATIONS ISSUE DIRE WARNING ON 9/11 20TH

As the United States commemorated the 9/11 terror attack 20th today with pomp, circumstance, and moments of silence, the United Nations was warning of coming peril.. Global troubles.. All the trouble in the world amplified by all the threats, the virus.. the terror.. the division..

    ‘ENORMOUS STRESS’

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a dire warning that the world is moving in the wrong direction and faces “a pivotal moment” where continuing business as usual could lead to a breakdown of global order and a future of perpetual crisis. Changing course could signal a breakthrough to a greener and safer future, he said.

The U.N. chief said the world’s nations and people must reverse today’s dangerous trends and choose “the breakthrough scenario.”

The world is under “enormous stress” on almost every front, he said, and the COVID-19 pandemic was a wake-up call demonstrating the failure of nations to come together and take joint decisions to help all people in the face of a global life-threatening emergency.

    So how to fix?

    THE NEW WORLD ORDER SOLUTION?

Perhaps now we see the agenda more clear..

In today’s world, Guterres said, “Global decision-making is fixed on immediate gain, ignoring the long-term consequences of decisions — or indecision.”

He said multilateral institutions have proven to be “too weak and fragmented for today’s global challenges and risks.”

What’s needed, Guterres said, is not new multilateral bureaucracies but more effective multilateral institutions including a United Nations “2.0” more relevant to the 21st century. “And we need multilateralism with teeth,” he said.

Kabul airport attack kills US Marines

The U.S. ambassador in Kabul has told staff there that four U.S. Marines were killed in an explosion at the city’s airport and three wounded, a U.S. official with knowledge of the briefing said. Two explosions ripped through crowds of Afghans trying to enter the airport on Thursday.

At least three U.S. troops were injured, a U.S. official said. Witnesses reported multiple fatalities among the Afghans, many of whom were trying to enter the airport because they had assisted U.S.-led coalition efforts and feared persecution by the Taliban.

CIA Director William Burns held secret meeting in Kabul with Taliban leader Abdul Ghani Baradar

CIA Director William J. Burns held a secret meeting Monday in Kabul with the Taliban’s de facto leader, Abdul Ghani Baradar, in the highest-level face-to-face encounter between the Taliban and the Biden administration since the militants seized the Afghan capital, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomacy.

President Biden dispatched his top spy, a veteran of the Foreign Service and the most decorated diplomat in his Cabinet, amid a frantic effort to evacuate people from Kabul international airport in what Biden has called “one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history.”

  • CNN turning on Biden?

    CNN turning on Biden?

    The feeding frenzy begins?!

The front page of CNN reports that it isn’t going to give Biden credit anymore for just not being Trump..

The front page of state media seemingly has turned on the Commander in Chief

    Stephen Collison for CNN writes:

Biden is failing to adequately explain why he so badly failed to predict the swift collapse of the Afghan state. And his credibility has been sullied because his confident downplaying of the risks of the withdrawal has been repeatedly confounded by events. Seven months into his term, Biden no longer gets credit simply for not being Donald Trump.

    The article continues:

The atmospherics around a White House that was on a roll have shifted in a matter of days. Just over a week ago, Biden was taking a victory lap for his unlikely feat of passing a bipartisan infrastructure deal in the Senate and also ramming a $3.5 trillion spending framework through the chamber. As the pandemic rebounds, his July Fourth partial declaration of independence over the virus looks like a “Mission Accomplished” moment, even if the reluctance of millions of Americans to get vaccinated has fueled its spread.

The US military created a vast database of biometric data — one report suggests it had a goal of 25 million entries — as part of its effort to track terrorists in Afghanistan.

Now that the US has withdrawn from the country, reports from The Intercept and Reuters suggest the Taliban could potentially use it to target allies left behind.

Afghan civilians who helped the United States government were included with this database..

Taliban Warning: US Must Fully Withdraw American Troops By September 11

Suhail Shaheen, a member of the Taliban’s political office, told Sky News on Tuesday that “we are committed not to attack them,” but he stressed they have to leave by that date. It’s not clear what will happen if American forces remain in Afghanistan after Sept. 11.

The United States had previously planned to withdraw all its troops by the end of August, but the Pentagon was forced to send thousands of soldiers to the beleaguered country to facilitate evacuations from Kabul, which was quickly captured by the Taliban—considered a terrorist group by many countries—on Sunday.
