The growth of doom

I got an email last night from someone saying that they come to the HORROR REPORT for horror news, and not world events.. I implore you, find reader, look to your news headlines for the horror. It is there..

The HORROR REPORT has been around since 1999, in some shape or another. At that time, we were on message boards and forums.. AOL rooms and ICQ rooms.. Now we’re steady as a website–one that changes its design now and then, much to the chagrin of readers who are thoroughly confused by the constant reshaping of icons and pages.. Throughout all of the history of the HORROR REPORT, we have told readers of the scariest of things both real and fake. Movies, TV, comics, and books. And real events..

The news of the day is always scary. It is always the best of times and the worst of times..

The latest ‘worst of times’ news is constantly streaming to us from the Middle East, where a death cult describing itself as a religious branch of Islam is wrecking lives and destroying realities.. ISIS is not a Muslim group. They are beyond the pale, and have no regard for decency or any tenets that other Muslims hold.. As a matter of fact, we are being thrown back onto the cesspool of the Middle Ages with each beheading.. each burning..each stoning.. and each baby being stomped on by ruthless men who are hellbent on shocking the world even more than we have been..

Just last night, the HORROR REPORT reported on the prophecy of end times that is guiding ISIS. They believe they are heralding in the final days. Some in the extreme religious right think the final days are here, too.. but they are mistaken when they believe their rapture will save them from suffering the rest of us would have to endure. World citizens, I think we are in this together. And if we don’t think about how to stop this new century’s villain, the next century will look back and either ask us why they inherited a thousand years of darkness or ponder why this current age seemed determined to allow itself to become a turmoil-laden battleground of religious insanity..

ISIS is expanding its area. The latest atrocity is showcasing their power in Libya and growing influence in North Africa. Tim Lister reports today that the group is actually growing at a warp speed:

ISIS is under pressure in parts of Iraq and battling a variety of adversaries in Syria, but it’s metastasizing at warp speed elsewhere, most dangerously in Egypt and Libya.

It also has support in Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan. And the leader of the group ravaging northern Nigeria, Boko Haram, has expressed his admiration of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.Set featured image

I am reminded of the previous comments of our leaders..Comments that all proved to be either wrong or ignorant.. Bush with his ‘bring it on.’ Obama with his ‘benchwarmers’ comment about ISIS. Or the Iron Lady Hillary Clinton’s ‘we came’ joke about Qaddafi’s death and subsequent corpse raping the dictator endured at the moment when the ‘Arab Spring’ took shape in Libya.

Dead ambassadors. Weapons being given to Al Qaeda.. chess matches in a land of oil. And all for what? Another group of horror established itself.. John McCain denies he met with them. But there are photos.

If those photos matter now.

This is morphing at a warp speed..

500 miles from Rome.
And they could watch 500 more.

The Podesta reveal

Imagine: A United States citizen with high profiles and extremely high credentials and clearances in the United States government publicly saying that he wishes he could have brought disclosure on the topic of UFOs.

Stop imagining.. it’s exactly what John Podesta is saying! Some hate him politically, others love him. But stop with the ridiculous two-party division nonsense and just realize what Podesta, a former Clinton staffer, is really saying: Podesta said in a tweet February 13th:

“Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files..”

There seems to be a drumbeat of news leading to some sort of reveal..
If Podesta’s wish comes true, we’ll see it soon.

Brian Williams suspended; Jon Stewart stepping down: Which one is the bigger item?

Did news just die today?
Brian Williams was suspended after a number of days of intrigue.. He lied about a helicopter in Iraq years ago. He also is being doubted over his tales of Katrina of watching bodies float through the street … And now, six months from now when Americans will undoubtedly be baking under a late summer sun, we will see if NBC NEWS really brings back the anchor..

He may be forgiven.
He may be forgotten..
It also may give more time to the sleuths online who will notate any other potential lie that Williams may have uttered over the past lifetime we’ve all shared together.

However, a bigger event may have occurred today. Jon Stewart announced on the DAILY SHOW that he is going to step down at the end of this year–he hosted the program since 1999 and has become one of the most influential comedians in history. Not just because the DAILY SHOW has been filled with memorable humor, but also because he has become the Cronkite of our age..

He is trusted more than Williams and company.. countless Americans get their news from the DAILY SHOW each night or in snippets online the day after. His jokes are hard hitting.. they are important.. they are also game changing, often able to pinpoint hypocrisy not only within the ruling class but also within media as well. Jon Stewart brought humor back after 9/11 in a massive way. He was the only person on television at the time who was noticing the inaccuracies in the Bush Administration during the runup to the Iraq war. After the war started, he was the sole survivor of truth on TV, giving people a humorous blend of soundbites and lies. All with a smile–but beneath the smile was the frown of truth and the exposure of emperors without clothing.

Brian Williams played a game. He lived in an act–one where he seemingly wanted to place himself in important events only to massage his own ego and inflate his own importance. He was caught. And caught up in a web of lies. With his Twitter account vanquished of all recent memory, the memory hole will have to be accessed. Undoubtedly people will still find more inconsistencies. It’s a surety..

It’s somewhat ironic, perhaps, that both Williams and Stewart made news today; Williams faked his way through teleprompter reading while Stewart wrote the material that would tuck Americans in each night. They could rest assured that while the world was in flames and turmoil, at least there’s a way to laugh about it all.. There was much more truth on THE DAILY SHOW than anything else on the evening newscast..

Only days ago, Stewart even offered a hard hitting joke about Williams’ potential demise:

Finally — someone is being held to account for misleading America about the Iraq War.

And how true that is.. The amount of those playing war drums are much more important than anything Williams did. But they aren’t questioned much.. instead they show up years later as ‘experts’ on major networks.. With talking heads reading friendly questions in a corporate news environment.

Thank God we had the DAILY SHOW.
And I pray we still will..

I got to like Brian Williams when I was just 16 years old watching him anchor live coverage of Flight TWA 800. During his coverage it was entertained that a missile hit the plane…

The record of history, of course, didn’t speak of a missile. Though conspiracy theories still abound about Flight 800, the memory hole was carefully filled in with the dirt of ‘official’ truth..

Perhaps there is some weird confidential consideration to make.. a missile hitting an airline in 1996, and they say it didn’t happen.. Williams in a helicopter in the early 2000s saying a rocket propelled grenade hit, but it didn’t..

Tonight the news died.
But not because of Williams and his verbal missteps.
Instead because the real newsman of our time left one of the last remaining vestiges of truth in our time..

PRESIDENTIAL SWEATS

I’m not the only one who noticed an unsettling image of a sweaty Obama last night.. A lot of people watched a very sweaty and strange looking Commander in Chief give a message to the GRAMMY Awards audience last night about domestic violence..

Twitter was alive with comments about Barack Obama’s odd appearance.. Lots of people saw the sweat piling up on his brow ..

Matt Drudge did too.. Of course he took it a step further pondering if Obama knows ‘something terrible’ is on the way ..Though I still think the 2009 phase of flies being attracted to Obama was much creepier..

VACCINE MEAN SEASON

Vaccines are suddenly becoming a campaign 2016 issue.. Rand Paul and Chris Christie both suggested that parents could choose to vaccinate. Others disagree vehemently.. Hillary Clinton stepped into the fray with a #vaccineswork Tweet. President Obama has utilized his weekly radio address (yes they still happen) and other appearances, like his beer-swigging pre-superbowl interview, to advise parents to choose vaccines over not. But Rand Paul, the famed anti-establishment eye doctor who is not a Senator and vying for the highest office in the land, says that vaccines have dangers.. Paul said they they can cause profound mental disorders.. the Paul comments raised some eyebrows, and have others in the anti-vaccine world applauding.. you can see his unusually combative interview here on CNBC.. the interview was set to be about financial issues but it took a controversial turn immediately.. Paul says that ultimately vaccines are a good idea but he had his ‘staggered’ over several months.. When the interview turned back to stocks and economics the banter between the host and Paul seemingly went even more downhill..

Meanwhile on FOX news, Megyn Kelly argued that parents should vaccinate their children and “some things require big brother.”

The vaccine issue has been bubbling under the surface of reality for some time. A massive measles outbreak thanks to the filthy happy land of Disney has made it boil over .. Expect more as the cases uptick..

THE ABCs OF GETTING FIRED, PART 2

Days ago we wrote about Sheila Kearns, the teacher on trial for showing a horror movie to her students..

This story has developed in full.. a decision was made by a Franklin County Ohio jury.. they have convicted her of FOUR FELONIES and she will now face substantial prison time..

All for showing 14-18 year olds (who probably always saw it!) the cult horror film THE ABCS OF DEATH..

John Futty of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH reports it for the official record in a story filed for the paper.. Futty writes,

But the jurors were certain that she committed a crime by showing it to four more classes that same day.

The jury convicted Sheila Kearns yesterday of four counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and acquitted her of one count.

Common Pleas Judge Charles Schneider scheduled sentencing for March 4. The maximum penalty for each felony count is one year in prison and a $2,500 fine, but probation is the presumed penalty for the low-level felony.

Think about this one more time..
A CRIME for showing a horror movie to students. Again, students who most likely already streamed the film a number of times on NETFLIX without parental guides stopping them or knowing of it..

Futty writes more,

Kearns spoke just three words outside the courtroom when asked for a reaction to the verdict.

“God is good,” she said.

Her attorney, Geoffrey Oglesby, said she will appeal.

Kearns, 58, of Miller Avenue on the South Side, had told investigators that she didn’t watch the movie in advance or while showing it during five Spanish classes at the high school on April 11, 2013.

But one student testified during Kearns’ trial that the teacher did watch portions of the movie. The student, who was 17 at the time, called the movie “disturbing” and said students “were going crazy” while watching it.

“Going crazy.” Most of us reading this have been in high school or still are. It’s not difficult to get a pack of hormone-laden teenagers to ‘go crazy’… it happens with merely anything during a long and boring day of supposed learning and education.

While I would agree that by the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th time she saw the scenes she was showing to the classes, she would have realized by that point just what kind of a movie it was..

But as I wrote previously on this matter, I am alarmed that this is considered a crime and not just a disciplinary issue. First off.. the movie has been released, and has it has been watched countless times by all age groups on Netflix.. There are websites, Tumblrs, and Facebook pages dedicated to talking about it–many times children perhaps too young are doing it. I would be surprised if most of the children that day in school weren’t watching the movie for their second time or more..

Futty wrote this as well,

Tim League, one of the producers of The ABCs of Death, talked about the movie last night from his home in Austin, Texas. He said that when he first heard about the trial, he thought it was a “joke story” because he couldn’t believe the movie would be shown to a high-school class.

“I agree with the prevailing sentiment that this is absolutely inappropriate for a substitute teacher to show anyone under the age of 17,” League said. “It’s not a movie for children.”

A joke it is not.
A teacher has lost her freedom.. will face jail time and substantially high fines.
But she will appeal.

The ABCs of getting fired.
And the ABCs of making something ‘off limits’ even more pervasive.. the kids who didn’t get the chance to ‘go crazy’ that day by watching the film have undoubtedly seen it be now..

To hear the debates in Congress, the tired old foolish whims of old men, is beyond frustrating. The lackluster performance isn’t a verdict on the system–the amazing part of our founding fathers is that devised something that could withstand war and rage and the tests of time. But what needs changed are the minds and attitudes of the ruling class.

There is a great unveiling occurring across the internet world.

This week, I was reminded of the 1990s again.. Bill Clinton was able to get away with quite a bit and leave office with a nation loving his presidency.. The Seinfeld era, a decade about nothing, was a success for Clinton.. His sexual tribulations didn’t matter but instead led to a more erect President in front of the American people.. Things may change now though in this century.. Clinton finds himself embroiled in a strange and lurid scandal involving a pedophile named Jeffrey Epstein.. And now thanks to the internet (and the British press) we are finding out quite a bit more than we ever though possible about Bubba. And his 20+ phone numbers. We also know that the houseman for Epstein cleaned his sex toys and was constantly afraid he would disappear. Matt Drudge was the lone wolf in the 1990s who cleared the way for the internet when he blazed a headline and siren on his page about Bill Clinton having sex with an intern in the White House. If it was sex, of course.. But these days, the DAILY BEAST is the one who is claiming other media sources dropped the ball on the Epstein scandal.. Vicky Ward wrote a piece titled “I tried to warn you about sleazy Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein in 2002.” Among her interesting words,

Ward’s piece for VANITY FAIR on Epstein was scrubbed of any references to women claiming abuse. That was 2002. Eons ago in Internet language.

The future is now. The scandals of yesterday have a renewed place in the Internet of today, and a new generation is constantly judging the old one. Children not of age in the 1990s may wonder why Bill Clinton got away with it.. children not of age in the 1980s recently became shocked at the fall of Bill Cosby from the national applause sign..

Everything that’s old is new.
Except our Congress..

There the same debates still occur as they did in the late 1980s.. Many people still be in a mindset that there’s a Cold War.. that we are far away from others .. instead we’ve never been closer. With our modern technology, we have never known more about everything and everywhere in the world.

We are educated. We are understanding. And we are not young and dumb..

Some may be able to stop a few websites. But not a billion. Not a trillion.

There’s information beyond our wildest dreams. And quite frankly, LOTS of it is true. Even the ‘tin foil’ types have facts to back up their often lengthy diatribes about our modern world and news of the day..

The economy is changing drastically.. pop culture is evolving every 12 hours.. the weather is more fierce and the demographics of America are rapidly evolving.

But John Boehner is the speaker of the House. And Nancy Pelosi kissed him.

The HORROR REPORT went back to black. We left the white background after a number of user complaints and reader gripes.. They didn’t like the new design we had for about three weeks. While I did, I decided that the readers’ happiness is worth more than mine.
So back to black we go.

What is ruining Christmas this year? Creepy targeted advertisements, popping up on computers and giving away secrets .. We already know the secrets of advertisers: They spy and pry into every portion of our lives. But now they are stealing Christmas. I think Bill O’Reilly should write a book about them..

2014 has been the year of the paranormal in mainstream news.. Another story adds to the flavor: A ”possessed” Argentine singer claims that she has been healed of her mental ills after swapping her medicine for an exorcism. Her name is Sabrina Sabrok, and she says she turned to a faith healer to exorcise her demons. Concerning her image, I assume the things on the picture are real?

A spy drone listens to calls, and hacks into WIFI networks. And reads text messages to. And that’s just what they are telling us this does.. Always remember: Real technology is about 15 to 20 years more advanced than what the public knows of or gets to use..

Speaking of the future, it’s coming fast.. Here’s an AFP article to wet your appetite for tomorrow: The drone revolution hovers on the horizon. In the spirit of progress, I am fine with the future. As long as human rights don’t continue to be trashed and governments don’t continue to forcibly stomp on the faces of the free.. I simply fear that robots and drones will allow bad things to be much easier to perpetrate.. But getting grocery drone deliveries? That is cool.

Science fiction of the future is becoming reality of today. Here’s a video that showcases a few technologies that could give humans the ability to live a lot longer. If not forever.. And before you balk at the chances of living forever, think of this: IF you could be healthy, IF you could be secure, IF you can have a wage floor? What’s not to like about life?

Of course something could come along and make us not want to life forever.. like a MAMA JUNE sex tape. Yes indeed..

VIVID Entertainment is offering up Ms. June, mother of HONEY BOO BOO of recent TEE VEE infamy, $1 million dollars if she would have sex with her child sex offender boyfriend on camera. Is God dead?

Satan in the making. Literally. Images revealed of the Oklahoma Satan being created. He’s not quite done yet. And Baphomet’s children are patiently waiting for their father figure to secure his site..

On the same topic as Satan.. an opening prayer in Lake Worth, Florida, caused consternation and protest by the commissioners..

Getting back off the Satan theme and moving back to the Pagan theme, Christmas is coming soon. So the question emerges, do you live to eat or eat to live? Gluttony is king on Christmas..But that’s the problem in the US of super-sized A’s.

Moral.. or filled with landmines on the ethical highway? The French are about to put the terminally ill into a deep sleep. Until death.

And some more choice headlines from the Ethically Deprived Highway.. The Senate torture report is still resounding across the nation. But the nation chooses to look away, averting their eyes to the previous decade of life in which we went lower than low.. in the torture report is this: Spokane psychologists were paid $80 mi for torture program work.. Their job was to help the nation with the new mission of ”enhanced” interrogation.. Doctors and medical workers, those swearing to do right in the world, were a part of something very problematic and often contrary to their oath. Doctors help anally hydrate subjects. CIA were helped by doctors. By nurses. By specialists of all sorts and sizes.. Among some highlighted issues: Doctors found prisoners with broken feet and yet STILL approved them to be in standing positions for 52 hours.. And psychologists actually also served often as interrogators.. So now the question: Will medical professionals face any consequences?

There is most likely some sort of symbolism in this: Kary Perry was hit by a lollipop on stage.. video records her reacting.. Though her reaction itself was priceless ..

People are STILL talking about the BABADOOK, the horror movie of the year according to many.. the WASHINGTON POST interviewed the director of the film, Jennifer Kent. A few noteworthy comments from Kent include, “A lot of people, when I spoke to them, as a woman, and said, ‘Oh, I’m directing a horror film,’ it was like I was directing a snuff film or porno or something terrible,” she says. “The view on horror is that bad”. And “Women do love watching scary films. It’s been proven, and they’ve done all the tests. The demographics are half men, half women. And we know fear. It’s not like we can’t explore the subject.” The movies making the biggest impression on KENT were HALLOWEEN and THE THING. Kent also makes his superb point about horror itself: “I feel like a lot of the people who make horror actually don’t understand its depth and its power,” she says. “Unbeknownst to themselves, they’re looking down on the genre. I also think a lot of horror is made cynically, and by that I mean that it’s made to make money.” Absolutely agree! And on violence in horror–the gorefest and torture porn of recent years–Kent says that “the worst of them — the most violent and degrading and debasing versions of the form — probably are geared toward people who maybe identify with the killer, who maybe are getting off in some way.” Yet again, agree.. I would love the chance to sit down and talk to Jennifer Kent in some detail.. I think her points on horror and her thoughts on the genre are spot on.. There is a good chance that Jennifer Kent has become the new queen of scream, as some have dubbed her. From the land down under, she took over the world of horror..

CIA Torture Report: Bush Was Kept in the Dark »

President George W. Bush was never briefed by the Central Intelligence Agency on the details of harsh interrogation techniques and secret detention of terror suspects for the first four years of the controversial program, and when he did find out the details, he was “uncomfortable” with some of the practices, according to the long-awaited report by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

US prepares for security risks from torture report »

A scathing report released by the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday found that the Central Intelligence Agency routinely misled the White House and Congress about the information it obtained from the detention and interrogation of terrorism suspects, and that its methods were more brutal than the C.I.A. acknowledged either to Bush administration officials or to the public. »

One new revelation I hadn’t heard of until now that surfaced in this report: Rectal feeding.

The NEW YORK TIMES reports,

Detainees were deprived of sleep for as long as a week, and were sometimes told that they would be killed while in American custody. With the approval of the C.I.A.’s medical staff, some C.I.A. prisoners were subjected to medically unnecessary “rectal feeding” or “rectal hydration” — a technique that the C.I.A.’s chief of interrogations described as a way to exert “total control over the detainee.” C.I.A. medical staff members described the waterboarding of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the chief planner of the Sept. 11 attacks, as a “series of near drownings.”

This may be of particular interest,

“[A]n “intellectually challenged” man whose CIA detention was used solely as leverage to get a family member to provide information, two individuals who were intelligence sources for foreign liaison services and were former CIA sources, and two individuals whom the CIA assessed to be connected to al-Qa’ida based solely on information fabricated by a CIA detainee subjected to the CIA’s enhanced interrogation techniques.” [Page 12]

And this

“CIA officers also threatened at least three detainees with harm to their families—to include threats to harm the children of a detainee, threats to sexually abuse the mother of a detainee, and a threat to “cut [a detainee’s] mother’s throat.” [Page 4]

And one more

“Conditions at CIA detention sites were poor, and were especially bleak early in the program. CIA detainees at the COBALT detention facility were kept in complete darkness and constantly shackled in isolated cells with loud noise or music and only a bucket to use for human waste. Lack of heat at the facility likely contributed to the death of a detainee. The chief of interrogations described COBALT as a “dungeon.” Another seniorCIA officer stated that COBALT was itself an enhanced interrogation technique.” [Page 4]

A TALE OF TWO SEASONS

Protesters Swarm West Side Highway, Tree Lighting After Eric Garner Decision »

Some protesters said they planned to disrupt the Rockefeller Center tree lighting — following a decision by a grand jury not to indict an NYPD officer involved in the apparent chokehold death of Eric Garner.

There is high tension on the streets of New York tonight.. only days after the Ferguson grand jury decided not to charge Darren Wilson, this new story emerges from Staten Island..

The grand jury was able to even see the video in which police held down a dying Eric Garner.. his crime was selling loose cigarettes and force of several police officers killed him, as he begged for air before his death.. Garner’s crime was tax evasion.. In a sense, it’s fair to say that Garner was executed by the state for the failure to relinquish tax dollars to the city..

There are people on the TEE VEE sets tonight defending the police and the grand jury non-action.. there are also some demanding more protests.. And the rest of us, the silent majority, are looking on in wonder and sadness.. Sadness over police who go too far.. sadness over a country seemingly becoming disjointed by racial tension and needless division—if only the majority of all races would see how bankers and various high powered institutions of corporate madmen are actually the ones who herald in a police state. The big picture, though, is often difficult to see..

The night air in New York is not filled with Christmas joy, but instead the anger of people who sense more police tyranny

There is one more piece of food for thought on the Eric Garner death.. consider this: The police who killed him this summer will face no criminal penalties for their actions. But 22-year-old Ramsey Orta was indited in August.. Why? Well that is the interesting part.. RAW STORY reports:

As the Staten Island Advance reported, 22-year-old Ramsey Orta was indicted this past August, 13 days after being arrested and charged with charged with felony counts of third-degree criminal weapon possession and criminal firearm possession.

Authorities argued that Orta stuffed an unloaded gun inside 17-year-old Alba Lekaj’s waistband outside a hotel. But Orta has said that the charges against him were trumped up as retaliation for filming Garner being grabbed from behind by Officer Daniel Pantaleo. The city’s medical examiner determined that Garner’s death was a “homicide by chokehold.”

“When they searched me, they didn’t find nothing on me,” Orta said to the Advance regarding his arrest. “And the same cop that searched me, he told me clearly himself, that karma’s a b*tch, what goes around comes around,” Orta said, adding later, “I had nothing to do with this. I would be stupid to walk around with a gun after me being in the spotlight.”

And now tonight, with the seasonal good tidings gone by the wayside, the crowd in New York City is shouting ’no justice no tree’ in the cold night air.. During the heat of the summer, a man named Eric Garner was shouting “I can’t breathe” as police held him down for not giving the city his taxes on loose smokes..
