A weeping statue in New Mexico? Cry Mary Cry

Reporting from New Mexico details accounts of a supposedly crying statue of the Virgin Mary.. people being drawn from states away to see the event take place before their eyes, according to reporting.

The father says the statue was built in Mexico and was on loan to this church. They will now try to keep it permanently.

The Archdiocese of Las Cruces has been called in to investigate. He says the church treats their investigation in a very scientific way.

Those at the church say at one point, the “supposed” tears were soaked up with cotton balls and preserved as part of that investigation.

A tiny piece of clay discovered may prove one portion of the Bible

Last week, Israeli archaeologists in Jerusalem announced that they had discovered a 2,700 year old clay seal impression that, in their estimation, once belonged to the governor of Jerusalem.

The excavator Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah said that the discovery “supports the Biblical rendering of the existence of a governor of the city in Jerusalem 2,700 years ago.”

This would make the seal impression significant in two ways: it would provide archaeological evidence that there was an Israelite administrative presence in the land roughly three millennia ago and it would confirm that the administrative structures described in the Bible actually existed.

The coin-sized impression is inscribed in Hebrew and reads “belonging to the governor of the city.” It also shows two standing figures who face one another and wear striped, knee-length garments. The Israel Antiquities Authority said that the seal was probably either a souvenir sent on behalf of the governor or originally attached to “an important transport” of some kind.

  • As Beltane became May Day.. as history turns

As Beltane became May Day.. as history turns

One important aspect of May Day often overlooked, along with the Beltane origins, is organized religion worked to overtake the pagan or communist roots with those of the more religiously themed ..

Since the 18th century, many Roman Catholics have observed May – and May Day – with various May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In works of art, school skits, and so forth, Mary’s head will often be adorned with flowers in a May crowning. May 1 is also one of two feast days of the Catholic patron saint of workers St Joseph the Worker, a carpenter, husband to Mother Mary, and surrogate father of Jesus..

Replacing another feast to St. Joseph, this date was chosen by Pope Pius XII in 1955 as a counterpoint to the communist International Workers Day celebrations on May Day

He clearly opposes the big bang theory:

“I’m the type of dude who always wants to figure it out. Science makes a lot of sense. Then I start thinking — wait, the ‘big bang’. For a ‘big bang’ to create all this is more wild to think about than thinking about there being a God. Imagine putting a bunch of gold into a box, shaking up the box, and out comes a Rolex. It’s so preposterous once people start saying it.”

  • Water+Mars=?

    Water+Mars=?

This was the mathish problem I asked last night on my personal Facebook page.. the answers I received were humorous.. But it showcased that the underbelly of humanity yesterday was excited by the prospect that we found water on Mars–water that is flowing.

The choice answers included ice cream, ‘humans,’ aliens, and my favorite, ‘how we got here.’

    How we got here..
That has been the long thought inside my own head..

It’s unbelievable to think of how much changed since my grade school years formed my view of the universe–a view challenged by time and discovery. At that time, Mars was barren and desolate. It was only after hearing Richard C. Hoagland tell Art Bell during the 1990s version of Coast to Coast AM that water flowed on Mars that I actually started to contemplate the idea of liquid on the red planet. .

Perhaps that is also why the announcement yesterday wasn’t too surprising to me.
    Water on Mars.
The tin foil hat club has known this for years..

I have a few people I chalk up as friends who take the Bible very literally. I have some spirited discussions with them about my viewpoint on that. But for them, the Bible is gold. It’s the word of God and it’s historical in nature.. So playing the devil in the devil’s advocate setup, I often ask them if they would find it reasonable to conclude that Noah’s Ark was a spaceship and the flood actually happened on Mars, the spaceship traveled to earth to escape. LAUGHABLE, they tell me–of course I remind them that their position also could incur as many chuckles as another.

I think now that water has been found, I’m going to tell them it backs up my premise of the NOAH spaceship idea.. Water on Mars. The leftovers of the great flood that ended Mars-humanity.

Of course.. I’m being tongue in cheek.
    or am I..?

So far the 9/23/15 asteroid NEVER hit.. I doubt the lunar lunacy will end the planet, either.

Sadly the day the REAL end comes via space rock or sun spot, we’ll be ill-prepared due to our busy nature of listening and giving credit to false prophets who deserve none..

  • Pope in a Fiat

    Pope in a Fiat

The scenes have been historic: Pope Francis travailing the streets of the United States, first in D.C. and then in New York. The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, is on the agenda for Saturday..

Before Pope Francis gets to meet Mayor Nutter, other whirlwind events have been occurring..

The media has been battling pedestrians for a shot of Pope Francis in either the famed Popemobile or now the equally famous Fiat car that the Church chose for him to travel in between armored vehicles. Francis rolled the windows down and turned the lights on, ensuring people saw him at night emulate from inside the tiny box-car vehicle..

Francis met with the families of victims of 9/11, he talked to schoolchildren in Harlem.

The jubilant crowds were euphoric. New York’s CBS affiliate quoted a number of people who saw Francis that spoke, immediately, in big statements. Such as this notable quotable:

“He’s going to bring us all back to our faith and make us all one in this universe,” one spectator said.
With smart phone cameras held high, his very presence in Central Park stirred a wave of emotion.
“That was probably one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen,” said another spectator. “I’ve never felt closer to God in my life.”
The pope moved through the crowd and moved many to tears, offering his blessing to all and his personal touch to a fortunate few.
The pontiff then celebrated Mass at Madison Square Garden, a scene of a solemn service celebrating New York in all its diversity.
“Living in a big city is not always easy,” Francis told 18,000 people at the Garden, easily one of the most respectful crowds the arena has ever seen. “Yet big cities are a reminder of the hidden riches present in our world in the diversity of its cultures, traditions and historical experiences.”
The pope delivered the homily in Spanish, drawing a parallel between the Garden and the city itself.
As Mass ended, Cardinal Timothy Dolan spoke the words that led to rapturous applause.
“We pray for you on Sunday and now you are here,” he told Francis.
As people left, it was clear the experience had changed lives.
“He talked about seeing the face of Christ in the people of the city,” said Sister Margaret O’Brien. “That resonated.”

It’s fair to say that anyone watching is getting a sense of the historic nature of this visit. Imagine a Pope visiting a number of cities in the United States, especially one loved, admired, and often hated, throughout the world.. and that same Pontiff addressing the Congress–religious figures don’t get that chance often..

Perhaps the strangest of all circumstances thus far regarding the Pope’s visit is the now famous Congressman from Philadelphia PA who, after seeing the Pope drink from a water glass during his speech to the assembly, stole the glass. He went on to drink from it, have his family drink from it, and pour water over the heads of his children.. Congressman Bob Brady also broadcast the images over the social mediaverse.

People who have acted strange this weekend.
Brought to tears by the Pope on Thursday and finally conceding to the ultra-right wing elements in his own party on Friday, House Speaker John Boehner (R - OH) announced his resignation from his Congressional seat.  Good job, Tea Party-ers. (Photo: Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP via Business Insider)

NO really, he said that it was from hell itself and benefits Satan.
