The real ABCs of DEATH: Be happy they aren’t at your door step

The world seems to be surrounded by the scourge of death and the blanket of blood. And some people absolutely love it that way, so as long as the gorefest is confined to the big or small screen. That’s why a flurry of excitement has taken place online after the ABCs OF DEATH 2 trailer was released to a blood hungry public. The opening ‘death’ scene is a man being beheaded by an ax. Interesting when compared to modern real news about people being beheaded across the planet.

I don’t begrudge people of their thirsty desire to watch torture porn or gory films. I was young once too and thought it was cool to see the kills that horror movies brought. As you age, they say, you mellow. But in this case I do not.. Instead, I recognize the world for what it is: Filled with anarchy and violence, murder and bloodshed. And while I love horror flicks, I dissolve myself of appreciation of all of them—as anyone who reads this site may know, I am often very critical of the genre when I feel movies make to point.. But blood and death are scary. The ABCs of DEATH, however, looks to be just bloody.

And lots of people like that sort of thing. They can.. they have the right.
But I think if they were living in the midst of real war and real blood, their craving to watch the absurdly violent will become obsolete and their desire to just survive will be immediate.

The ABCs of DEATH trailer is available online.. you can find, you can watch it. You can re-watch it.. and you can even masturbate to it as though you were in a scene from the first movie. That is your choice..

Horror movies are often meant to arouse some of the primal fears we all have. The ultimate fear is our own demise. That’s why horror movies, when they work, feature scenes of murder but then seems of redemption. Even heroics. The hero at the end, often a woman who has a unique ability to survive darkness, lives to tell her tale and often beats the strong male murderer.. That plays on our instincts. A strong woman (our mothers) …the fear of death… Some do it in a very effective manner. Others.. well, just don’t.

When I was a kid, I fondly recall the shorts from CREEPSHOW. They were campy and weird.. freaky for their time.. Fast forward two decades: And then… When I went to see HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES so many years ago, I was started by a group of teenagers behind me that shackled themselves together and then chained (with real chains mind you) to their movie theater seats.. A glance of them proved even more disturbing, as they looked like real life characters from the Rob Zombie film. It was a moment in cinema I will never forget, and set the stage for me and friends to view the 1000 CORPSES movie. I (sort of) fondly recall having a midnight breakfast afterwards at Perkins and sitting in silence for about 15 minutes before anyone had a clue as to how what to say..

But thinking back, I bet money that if these teens would have joined the armed services, saw their brethren die on a roadside bomb or see Iraqi children become disfigured by the use of depleted uranium, their celebration of the macabre would have gone through a metamorphosis..

All of this may seem rather ironic for a ‘horror reporter’ to write, but I sure wish someone would make the ABCs of life.. The real goodness that exists in the world. The miracles.. or the amazing stories of survival and love. Goodness doesn’t sell, I know. Trust me.

Instead, we are filled with depravity and exist on a sphere in space defined by violence. Something brutal and barbaric violence. It’s celebrated through contemporary film, as well.

So while you watch the ABCs of DEATH and the sequel to it, if you like that sort of horror, fill your room with laughter and joy. Be happy you’re seeing the horrid and in many cases brutally disturbing ways to die.

And hope like hell that your glass house is never shattered by the reality that perpetuates the planet..

We are a world mired in warfare, bloodshed, and violence. Sometimes the scenes from the nightly news or the headlines on the NET are scarier than the ABCs of DEATH..

You just happily choose to ignore them while you laugh at death on screen. In spite of yourself.

The Satanic Black Mass is a go in Oklahoma City

This story had my attention for several weeks now.. the ongoing battle between the satanic group at the Catholic Church has been heated.

An Oklahoma-based satanic group called Dakhma of Angra Mainyu has leased space in the Civic Center Music Hall, which is owned and operated by the city, for a black mass on Septetember the 21st 2014.. The Catholic Church and a number of other Christian organizations attempted to stop it..

Just today we found out this: The archbishop of Oklahoma City has dropped his lawsuit trying to stop the group from hosting their mass. Apparently they returned consecrated communion hosts back to the Church.. They were planning on desecrating the hosts during their service..

This from Christine Rousselle of TOWN HALL:

While Archbishop Coakley is glad that the group no longer plans to desecrate the Eucharist, he is still urging the city to cancel the event as it is greatly offensive to the quarter of a million Catholics who reside in Oklahoma.

The website WORLD NET DAILY has been following the black mass for some time—say what you will about the website, but they are presenting some key information concerning the legal battle and public outcry concerning the mass..

I offer no stance on whether Oklahoma City should allow the satanic mass or whether the Catholic Church is right to stop it, but I will offer this: This is some proof that the ‘news’ of the mainstream has been amazingly paranormal over the past few months.. Black masses, stories of houses getting possessed, people possessed.. All of this on front pages..

If you’re an atheist, none of this matters at all and each stance is comical.. If you believe a spiritual war is taking place, you’re most likely picking a side..

Weird tales and beheaded animals across the world

Beheaded Goat, Other Dead Animals Found in Westchester »

A beheaded goat and several other dead animals have been found in plastic bags near a New York reservoir.

Beheadings seemingly are happening everywhere.. ISIS.. Saudi Arabia.. New York..

The Westchester county SPCA is investigating the headless goat and other animals found in New York.. Many of the animals found were beheaded.

Earlier in August, there were mutilated and beheaded cats found in Philadelphia .. not only there, but there were also severed cats heads found in the UK..

Also .. this has been happening for a bit of time.. Back in May 2014, 25 dead cats were wrapped in plastic bags and hung from trees in Yonkers, NY..

Have those gates of hell really opened?
Are we seeing a global blood sacrifice of humans and animals?

QUAKES AND CREATIVITY: THE WORLD AFTER THE 666 MTV AWARDS

Did anyone catch the Beyonce 20-minute monstrosity last night on the MTV awards? Fans are going wild for her performance on Twitter–people practically are bowing down and giving their souls over to Sasha Fierce. But I myself didn’t really get it, nor get into it.. There was the awkward moment when Jay-Z brought their adorable child on stage–awkward only because tabloid rags tell us there’s a chance that Z and Fierce may soon move to splitsville.

Back to the badly lip-synced performance: The Associated Press is telling us to “bow down” to Beyonce. The AP music writer gushed, “Beyonce sang and danced in a metallic leotard while Blue Ivy and Jay Z watched from their seats as the diva declared: “MTV, welcome to my world..”

Some believe we’ve been in their world for quite a while–the world of Illuminati influences and choreographed creepiness.

And if you felt a little weird watching the VMAs on MTV–if you were able to get past Nicki Minaj’s fake wardrobe malfunction (I say it was staged), then you noticed the big ‘666’ stage for the show.. And twas the night no MTV..

And now onto the real news… Or is it.

A Monday morning wrap of things that may matter:

The aftermath of the 6.1 quake in San Francisco: Large cracks in highways, some cracks 10 feet deep and hundreds of feet long.. Apart of the reports of the quake: An explosion happened first and then shaking for about 30 seconds later.. One witness interviewed said that the shaking from this quake seemed ‘worse’ than previous quakes.. And it’s just the start?

But here’s a great example of CREATIVITY after the quake!  Rock on, sk8ters.

Add this to the weird mix of quake news: On August 22, before the San Francisco earthquake, the Salton Sea stink caused an ‘odor advisory’ to be issued.. There was a ‘rotten egg’ smell before weeks before..

Reports indicate that the SAN FRAN shakes may cost a billion bucks..

Not related, but seemingly connected in my unscientific point of view: Hundreds of gas plumes have been found off the Atlantic Coastline of the United States, bubbling away.. They may have been bubbling for a while. But how would we know, we just discovered them..

Now that Hurricane Katrina is well behind the city of New Orleans, there is a rebound in the underground: Voodoo that some do so well is back.

How the Market Affects What Horror Makes it to Hollywood »

Recent torture pornographers such as Eli Roth arguably have aligned themselves with 1970s American horror auteurs not only to legitimize their work but to cash in on their rebel credibility.

The NEW REPUBLIC article is an interesting way to follow up on my previous essay written earlier this week about horror movies.. I actually made the point that horror movies, in general, are a lot less scary in our current reality—and even more, who wants to look at torture porn films and slasher gore galore when you can turn on the nightly news and see edited versions of beheading videos and then download the real deal yourself should you wish to..?

The NEW REPUBLIC article follows how the market—and current events—lead to the horror we see in cinema.. Author Yo Zushi writes,

It wasn’t long before horror directors such as Eli Roth were claiming that their work could trace a direct lineage to the “war on terror”. “I really try to load up the films with ideas,” Roth insisted, citing with pride the university seminars discussing his Hostel series as “a post-9/11 response to Iraq and torture”. The ecstatic violence of that franchise at first attracted the scorn of many reviewers, who dismissed it as “torture porn,” but Roth’s articulate justifications for his on-screen cruelties seem to have won over the academy.

This strategy of media management isn’t new—Night of the Living Dead’s George Romero said in 1973 that his pioneering zombie film was intended as “a statement about society,” and its semi-documentary style and black hero, murdered by white authorities, served to corroborate his claim. Yet, presenting Romero with a lifetime achievement award in 2009, Quentin Tarantino characterised his movies as consisting of “heart-stopping violence, explosive bloodshed, undead flesh-eaters and dismembered ghouls.” So does the political content really give life to the films, or is it ancillary to the thrills of gore and suspense? And does the meaning that a filmmaker attaches to his lurid tales ultimately matter?

And more:

Although it would be a folly to dismiss interpretative readings of the horror genre entirely, I am skeptical of the claims of critics and filmmakers alike that a zombie or torture movie is primarily to be approached as political allegory. That attitude seems to conform to an apologetic attitude to art, in which the work serves, at best, a medicinal function: the Hostel series is valid because it negotiates, even purges, society’s anxieties about Abu Ghraib, and so on. Yet Eli Roth is not Noam Chomsky. And who thinks about Nixon or Vietnam when confronted with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

I don’t know if the movies are always set to be political allegory, or if the interpretation comes after to defend the amount of horrific violence that often accompanies torture porn flicks. But I know this, and will defend the notion to the end: Pick any horror movie of any decade and you will get a pretty decent idea of what that time’s people, thought patterns, and headlines were like.

I have a few friends that disavow all things horror—people who avoid the genre at all costs. I myself avoid the torture porn flicks simply because I’d rather a deeper scare than one which simply attacks my sense of decency. But I believe that horror films are from the rough end of town, and they are emblematic of the life and times we are from..

Oh, and wrestling does, too.

Battle scars of truth.. they shall wear.

We don’t know the masters, but we sure know the slaves..
We are confused by the aims, which is why we behave..

Horror movies in a time when reality is far scarier

There is something wrong with the world today.. while we say we don’t know what it is, we do .. Human.. And the eventual totalitarian government that rises.. or the genocide that somehow always takes place. Why can’t we just let our children sleep in peace at night? Why can’t we let people live and let live.. why does religion have to lead to so ma
ny ruined landscapes and torn apart families? Why, in the 21st century, are we still seeing barbarism and mass murder play out before our eyes..? Why are we worried over ‘purges’ in American cities? Why are people rising up against police? Why are we seeing the unraveling of the American spirit? Why does the President golf … so much..? So many things seem to be off kilter–like a timeline jumped from one to the other.. or maybe it’s the pole shift that we know is happening?
Perhaps the electric universe is having an electrical fire.. Either way, whether it’s beheadings, riots, Ebola, or death, this world is a very dark place as of late..

This generation should have been lost in space.
Instead we are confined to the hell that is planet Earth. A hell we create each day in every way..

So many people don’t add good, but instead simply shovel on more negative spirit..

The red planet is Mars. But we are the new one in the solar system–red with the blood of innocent people, dying unnecessary deaths in so many ways. Women and children buried alive–but those kept alive used as sex slaves or for labor..

Whether it’s brutality from law enforcement around the world or murder at the hands of religious groups on the basis of belief, this planet is soaked in horror. Real horror..

THE HORROR REPORT began in 1999 on an old Geocities website, eventually becoming what it is today in the early 2000s. Initially, the focus was Moustapha Akkad and Halloween, horror movies and Freddy. Innocent things of the 20th century that were taken away by a decade of terror, war, and torture.

I watched an interesting documentary called NIGHTMARES IN RED WHITE AND BLUE about how, culturally, horror movies have always been emblematic of the time they were made–the monsters after World War II were people and the LSD and torture after the Manson murders stoked fears.. Freddy Kreuger was Ronald Reagan and Jason Vorhees represented the Old Testament God, angry at sinners.. And then, as we moved into the 2000s, after 9/11 and Gitmo, films law SAW brought us a new style of torture porn with roots in sadistic horror of the 1970s after the Vietnam War..

I have often said that professional wrestling and horror movies are molded after the generation watching them.. Check out any period of time for either the fake sport or the fake movies, and you’ll be presented a startling accurate picture of the people who were watching them at that moment in history..

But in our new world, a world where we heralded in a president we thought was going to change the world with his Nobel Peace Prize, what movies will be made? In a world where journalists are beheaded in gruesome YouTube videos, and said videos go viral around the world, what will shock us? In an atmosphere where we are told in a repetitive fashion from officials on the television sets that ISIS is in the United States and all of the world, and they are poised begin their strikes, what will scare us?

The Red Scare gave us countless films that represented Communists.. the nuclear age offered up movies about Armageddon gone wrong and beastly creatures being created by radiation..

But what will a new world of horror movies be during a time of such grief, pain, and true horror?

When reality becomes more shocking than the blood on the screen, I predict a continuation towards the more esoteric films–movies about demons and spirits, entities and the Jinn..

What can be scarier than our new reality? Not much..

Supernatural ‘Jinn’ Seen as Cause of Mental Illness Among Muslims »

This could be a symptom of a culture widely believing in paranormal phenomenon.. Muslims, it’s reported in this study, believe that the supernatural Jinn are attributing to their mental illnesses when they have them. Scientists and astute psychologists obviously say that the Jinn, since they aren’t real, cannot be doing this and culturally Muslims have simply been conditioned by their religious backgrounds to perceive the Jinn as being the reason for their problems.

Of course, if the Jinn were real, that would throw off the findings..

Nonetheless, here’s a money quote and conclusion of why certain cultures are haunted by certain entities:

Across societies, beliefs in the supernatural as well as other aspects of culture may influence how mental disorders manifest, the study said. Previous research has found that people with schizophrenia may experience different delusions depending on their cultures. For example, fears about technology and surveillance play a large part in the delusions of people with schizophrenia in the United States. Meanwhile, in Japan, which has an honor-oriented culture, patients’ delusions more commonly involve fears about public humiliation.

In a recent study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry, U.S. patients with schizophrenia reported hallucinations that involved hearing voices with a negative tone, whereas in Ghana and India, patients reported voices with a generally positive tone.

However, culture is not the only factor that influences psychiatric patients. Blom and his colleagues previously treated a young Muslim patient who had schizophrenia, and who, contrary to the doctors’ expectations, didn’t attribute his hallucinations to jinn. Instead, the patient had searched the Internet for cases similar to his experience, and had concluded that he was a werewolf.

“He could not be persuaded to accept any other explanation,” Blom wrote in an article describing the case that was published in March in the journal History of Psychiatry.

All in the mind..

ISIS HORROR: BEHEADING VIDEO RELEASED, AND A NEW THREAT UNLEASHED

ISIS has released a video of journalist James Wright Foley, 40, being beheaded.. the video is graphic and cruel, with Foley stating that the United States government is his real killer.. The ISIS member, who speaks with a British accent, threatens President Obama and brings another reporter, Steven Scotloff, before the camera at the unknown location..

The President has been made aware of the video, reports indicate, as he flew back to his vacation.. Additionally, the Foley family has been said to be consumed by horrid grief at the news tonight..

This is how REUTERS reported the news in its dispatches tonight from Baghdad:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Islamic State militants claimed in a video on Tuesday to be holding U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff and said his life depended on U.S. President Barack Obama’s next move.

“The life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision,” said a masked man in the video posted on social media sites, speaking English with a British accent as he held a prisoner the video named as Steven Sotloff.

The video could not immediately be verified.

The world yet again witnessing another small detail of the horror taking place in the Middle East..

The United States is working to verify the video..
The militant group, however, is claiming they killed him. And will soon kill another..

Police Concerned About Flash Mob Violence Based On Horror Movie »

Social media posts promise violence in Florida, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

The story linked here serves as a collection of headlines from various states—states where people have been posting social media announcements about “purges” to take place in the respective cities where the Tweets and messages are coming from.. AS notes, Florida, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania are among the states where police are monitoring the situation …

The horror movie where the ‘purge’ is stemming from is, none other than THE PURGE.. the sequel to the original film was released this summer and had respectable box office numbers.. The movie was less gruesome horror and more social commentary—rich vs poor and the government suspending all police protection to allow for a ‘purge’ is the plot..

While this new social media purge scare may be more hype than upcoming horror, it’s noteworthy that so many places and police forces are monitoring the situation. And just a brief stroll through morning headlines each day may showcase the reason why it should be a concern of law enforcement—times like these, there aren’t many reasons to take things for granted..

In the areas where the social media purge is being spoken of, police are announcing that they have contingency plans to deal with any issues.. I know there are lots of ill will feelings towards police after watching the mess they made in Ferguson, but we need to support social justice, law enforcement, and order.. It’s why America works.. It’s what made us work to begin with…

It feels like a long hot summer.. the tensions within this nation is palpable.. The rhetoric across this country is emotional and cruel..

A cruel summer.

The fabric of this nation is tearing.. I fear that there aren’t any seamstresses left to fix it.
