For those who are hoping for a second triumphant return of papa in Stranger Things season five, your hopes have been dashed. He now joins the ranks of the beloved dead from the epic Netflix hit.
Stranger Things creators have confirmed a major death for one of Season 4’s characters.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that Dr Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) has “definitively” died “for real this time”. In season 1, he was thought to be dead but the new episodes revealed that he somehow survived.
They also seem to confirm that Mad Max is alive but not well.
Papa had a good run.
We loved the MK Uktra vibe his character had and exuded .
And while we don’t know exactly when the newest season release will be, as a matter of fact we don’t even know when it’s going to be filmed, it’s about time that there’s more focus on Will Byers.
Season two gave us an adequate display of the trauma that the character has seen since his abduction by, either the Demogordon or Vetna we don’t know, in the first season…
Without giving away too many spoilers, season four is grand finale gave us the famous neck tingle as the camera cut to an eerily colorful and frightening sky over Hawkins.
Multiple fan theories have claimed that Will Byers will be killed off in the final season, or under a different scenario actually is in charge of the upside down by somehow playing in imagine world of dungeons and dragons with real life.
Either way, something epic appears to be coming his way.
We all knew this was coming–and many of us hoped it would be.
Spinoffs of the popular Netflix hit Stranger Things.. With Season 4 winding down we all know the fifth and final is coming (coming soon is another question, they don’t start filming until next year according to David Harbour) ..
Creators and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer: “There’s a version of it developing in parallel [to season 5], but they would never shoot it parallel,” Ross reportedly said. “I think actually we’re going to start delving into that soon as we’re winding down and finishing these visual effects, Matt and I are going to start getting into it.”
Matt added, “The reason we haven’t done anything is just because you don’t want to be doing it for the wrong reasons, and it was just like, ‘Is this something I would want to make regardless of it being related to Stranger Things or not?’ And definitely. Even if we took the Stranger Things title off of it, I’m so, so excited about it. But it is not… It’s going to be different than what anyone is expecting, including Netflix.”
Netflix at this point may not care what the storylines will be, just that they work! The streaming service is bleeding money and also laying off people. Heading into a recession, they are looking for hope. Perhaps a future of Duffer Stranger spinoffs is the best hope they’ve got.
It is fair to say–at least this is how we think–that without Stranger Things season 1, Netflix may have struggled a lot sooner than they did.
“If you’ve enjoyed season four up until this point, get ready because the (last two episodes) are the best thing that makes what you’ve seen look like chump change compared to it,” David Harbour, who plays fan favourite character Hopper, told Reuters.
“It’s a masterpiece, it’s beautiful, it’s epic… but it’s also on a scale and a scope that almost gets silly and it’s like wondrous, almost manga-esque… You’re going to be blown away.”
This trailer is as usual amazing and on par with the other most amazing trailer from season 2 when Michael Jackson’s thriller is used as the background song
It would be curious if they decided to add the song Running up the Hill before or after the burst of popularity the song had due to episode 4..
That final image with Max is concerning.. if she had a second run in with Vecna all bets are off and we could be looking at a horribly sad ending to season 4..
It is presumable that Vecna is going to be highly irritated that Max was able to get away and ‘run up the hill’ with the help of Kate Bush.. Episode 4 was perhaps one of the greatest and most epic in this season and has been immensely received well by fans both old and new..
But disaster seems to be awaiting someone as the season comes to a close.
We finally binged STRANGER THINGS season 4.. we wanted to make it last, so we broke up the binging into sections..
Each section was emotional. Fun.. and edge-of-your-seat entertainment..
Some dull moments were interspersed through the noise and horror–but this season upped the ante on horror and scares.. It created a mosaic of fright along with the cheerfulness of big 80s-hair and bright colors.
What landed best? DEAR BILLY, episode 4 of the season, could very well be the strongest episode of any of all four seasons.. What missed? The more drawn out storylines that were offered in episode 5 through 7 regarding Hopper and Eleven? And what was worst of all? The show still trying to showcase Will Byers as a child, attempting to fit him into childlike clothing despite his tall appearance and Johnny Cash-style deep voice. But kids grow faster than shows can be filmed. So we give some forgiveness on that.
But we are fans. We know that some people LOVE season 1 and hate season 3.. or find season 2 to be lukewarm at best. We also know that there are some who are highly critical of the Duffer Brothers “homaging” so much that they are often accused of outright copying.
But we also don’t care. As a matter of fact, this show has been one of our favorites since July 2016 when it first aired and changed the world. Now 4 seasons in we are frightened of the fifth that promises to end it all..
So far, season 4 are two Vecna-claws up.
After what we saw we are high anticipating the final two movie-length episodes 8 and 9. PAPPA, and PIGGYBACK.
Netflix held the world premiere for Stranger Things 4 Saturday night, screening the first episode of the streamer’s anchor series for members of the cast and crew. Various members of the media also happened to be in attendance, with the streamer allowing them to tweet out first reactions to the episode immediately after the premiere wrapped. As you might expect, the earliest reactions are overwhelmingly positive, and nearly perfect.
Most are praising the show’s “return to form,” with some calling it the show’s scariest outing yet. Others praised the production value of the project, saying it looks as much like the $30 million Netflix reportedly spent on each episode. The series will debut the first chunk of Season Four episodes on May 27th, while the remainder of the season will be released July 1st.
