  • ‘IT’ R

    ‘IT’ R

Stephen King’s classic book and TV movie from the early 90s that featured the late John Ritter and so many more is coming.. and coming.. and for a bit of time, it would have seemed as though IT was being shelved by time and fate…

Cary Fukunaga was going to direct it first.
Then news broke that MAMA helmer

    Andy Muscietti was on board..
And that’s where things sort of fell apart.

Now Adam Chitwood with COLLIDER has brought new hope into the horror world with this news: IT is going to be filmed and seemingly it will be rated R..

Producer Roy Lee at DICE 2016 confirmed that previous scripts have been re-written..

“It will hopefully be shooting later this year. We just got the California tax credit… Gary Doberman wrote the most recent draft working with Andy Muscetti, so it’s being envisioned as two movies.”

“It is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work… We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it’s gonna be a really fun way of making this movie.”

COLLIDER reports that it will be rated R.. and that it the script is being re-tuned..

    And I am tuning OUT.

As a fan of Tim Curry as Pennywise the dancing clown, and certainly a fan of King’s wordy version, I don’t really think it’s high time to redo it.. leave a classic be a classic. I may eat my words if the R rated show is fine, but at this point it seems to be a dreadful proposition..

Curryless … R … and most likely a dicey script that shakes things up too much.

    No thank you.

    Today is a big day.

My wife is 36. My son is 5.
Birthdays galore.. and moments in time that we need to stop and reflect.

Tara may not want picture herself at the age she is–though I remind her she can now run for president. Heck if Trump can anyone can.

As for Ayden, 5 is a big deal.

I still remember his first birthday.. And third.. and now fifth–we didn’t skip the 2nd and 4th but we just opted not to have parties for them.

So later today as a dozen kids roll around a giant play time location with a ball pip and giant sliding board, it will feel strange and real.

    Later this year: Kindergarten.

Until then let’s hold on to 16 as long as we can. The changes coming around real soon will make us women and men.

    I love you Tara.
    I love you Ayden.

FRESH CUT SNAKE HEADS GREEN BEANS!

FRESH CUT SNAKE HEADS GREEN BEANS!

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises ever to happen to a woman in Utah just happened.. after opening a can of green beans, she poured them out and found a snake head within!

    From FOX:

The discovery was made at a Mormon church in Farmington, Utah, while women and youth were preparing a meal for older members of the congregation. The find has led an Oregon food distribution company to halt further shipments of the green beans.

Troy Walker told KSL-TV in Salt Lake City she was taking beans out of a slow cooker when she spotted something out of place.

“It looked pretty much like a burnt bean, and then as I got closer to lift it off the spoon, I saw eyes,” Walker said. “That’s when I just dropped it and screamed.”

At a family dinner this weekend, she said that green beans will NOT be served.

    Or snake heads.

The foreboding comment and takeaway from this story you should be left with is this snippet from the FOX report:

“Who knows where the other parts of that snake were?” Smith told the AP Friday.

Mysterious Shrieking Sound Frustrates Oregon Community :

Dave Nemeyer, fire marshal of the Forest Grove Fire and Rescue in Forest Grove, Oregon, told ABC News that he first learned of the strange noise after a local resident recorded and shared a video of it on the city’s Facebook page

One person describes the noise as the sound of someone needing change their brakes.. Another said that few have heard it and it’s been impossible to find the source, though gas lines and water valves have been ruled out..

If you don’t know already, there have been countless noises like this happening throughout the world.
And now the newest addition: Oregon.

  • White balloon

    White balloon

First off, if this publishes I will be amazed. It is the fourth time I attempted to write it and publish, but each time there is an error and it will not save or post. Other posts have been published without a problem.

Recall a few days ago when I posted that article about the ‘haunted balloon’ that followed a grieving mom at her son’s funeral? There is still ongoing debate as to whether the floating white balloon was just being guided by wind. Or if it was being guided by a hand beyond the grave.

At the end of the post, I didn’t opine. Paranormal events are only inane until you’re involved with one. I will never want to tell a grieving mother that the message she found comfort in was just useless coincidence.

And then I had a dream.
Literally. A dream two nights ago ..
Last night, perhaps thinking about this balloon too much, it showed up in my own dream! It floated around me, floated behind me.. At one point I recall in the dream the balloon actually beginning to act very independently and almost in a manner that was not conducive to peaceful activity. It had some sort of agenda, and the events that transpired did not bring me comfort but instead I was led to believe that balloon had a foreboding meaning. As though the white balloon should be avoided, as though it should be ignored to take away its power. And if it comes in contact with you, perhaps you’re next.

Since the dream occurred, I wrote about it four times. I become increasingly frustrated that regardless of what platform I attempted to post this from, it would not work. My iPhone froze up. My computer did the same. I tried on a third party computer and it completely deleted the post.
And now finally, I am attempting it from an un-disclosable platform in a last ditch effort to see if it works.
    I certainly hope it does..
    The dream seemed so real.
The white balloon’s shadow seemed sinister.
I certainly hope in reality it was from a kinder source than it appeared to be during my night terror.

NEW YORK TIMES: THE VERY DARK MAGIC OF ‘THE WITCH’

The story is written by Mekado Murphy.

A part of the reason for linking this, mainstream newspapers and reporters rarely praise horror. This movie, however, has been getting widespread attention not only for the scare factor it presents, but also the historical context in which it was created.

Robert Eggers spent lots of time researching and visiting museums. The movie, it’s said, is true history of the time it was created..

And even Stephen King said it was one of the scarier movies he’s seen..

    This from the NYTIMES:

The writer and director Robert Eggers, a native of southern New Hampshire, dug deep into New England history for his debut feature, which unnerved audiences at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and earned the filmmaker the best director prize.

“Growing up in New England, you can’t help but be reminded of its past, with its dilapidated colonial farms and graveyards in the middle of the woods,” Mr. Eggers said by Skype. “I had a very strong idea as a kid about what New England’s mythic past was.”

    ….

In his early research, Mr. Eggers said he found that for many people in the 17th century, the real world and the fairy-tale world were one and the same: To them, witches were a reality. To show how deep a hold the witch had on settlers’ imaginations, Mr. Eggers decided to place viewers in the center of the period, as accurately as he could. He wanted his film to feel like “a Puritan’s nightmare,” he said. But he would have to be creative, working on a modest budget, $3.5 million. Here is a closer look into the detailed research and the handcrafted design that helped bring that nightmare to life onscreen.

Eggers did lots of research before creating the WITCH..

    More from the TIMES:

To get a grasp on the thinking and language of the period, Mr. Eggers pored over books, church pamphlets from Cotton Mather, “The Discoverie of Witchcraft” (a 16th-century text that aims to disprove the existence of witches) and various sermons from Puritan ministers. To write the dialogue, he turned to the diaries of John Winthrop, a founder of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and Samuel Sewall, a judge involved in the Salem witch trials, mainly to better understand the Calvinist worldview.

“Those diaries aren’t necessarily riddled with witch stuff,” he said, “but I tried to capture the Puritan mind-set and get the audience to see how this family would think.”

The movie, besides looking visually amazing, looks incredible.

A number of sources, including VANITY FAIR, are already billing this as the best horror movie of the year..

CUTE SELFIE MOMENT GONE WRONG: KILLS BABY DOLPHIN

Real news from Buenos Aires.. James Joiner from the DAILY BEAST reporting:

Two Franciscana dolphins were ripped from the waves near an Argentinan resort last week, then manhandled to shore, where they were passed around a clutching mob seeking cute selfie moments. In the process, at least one of the intelligent, playful cetaceans died from the experience. Franciscana, or La Plata, dolphins are unable to spend as long out of the water as their larger brethren.

“At least one of these dolphins suffered a horrific, traumatic and utterly unnecessary death, for the sake of a few photographs,” a spokesperson from the World Animal Protection group told ABC in Australia, condemning the despicable incident. “This terribly unfortunate event is an example of the casual cruelty people can inflict when they use animals for entertainment purposes.”

    And then get this:

After being pet and pawed at by dozens of people, one of the small creatures was found discarded on the beach, its usefulness as a social-media prop at an end. It was left coated in sand and soon died slowly of dehydration..

There were a few people still snapping some last minute photos as the creature lay gasping for its last bits if air before death.

There are a number of societal issues within this article.. commentary on our culture can be made as well.

    Feel free to make those..
And the next time you see a life form of any kind gasping for air and grasping for life, perhaps you should intervene before the selfie shot is taken..

    Maybe?

An asteroid is about to pass so close to Earth that we’ll see it in the sky

An asteroid is about to pass so close to Earth that we’ll see it in the sky:

This is how the news agency linked reports this information:

Don’t worry, we aren’t about to go extinct like the dinosaurs. That said, a 30-meter wide asteroid will be passing Earth so close early next month that we might be able to see it in the sky, NASA has announced. And it might even hit Earth at some point in 2017.

This is disingenuous.. First of all science news–the real news–is often placed on back burners to lesser important things.. This asteroid, though small, is important. It should not be mocked.
We are about to potentially see one of the closest shaves ever. We may see it with out naked eye..
And what do agencies do? Make bad jokes about the dinosaurs becoming extinct along with a snippet sentence that we may be HIT WITH THE SAID ASTEROID during 2017..
    Not a laugh matter.
The idea of this is all too common as of late. And yet here we are existent on a planet that seems to be in denial that eventually one day a bigger piece of space rock will nail us.
    We laugh.
We regulate to the last story on nightly newscasts……
And yet daggers in soace lurk.

    Time to get serious.

‘Haunted’ balloon comforts grieving mother at son’s funeral :

Joy Ganda Vibar-Alamares was grieving for her son Trebby in the Philippines. After the balloon floats in a straight line to her, it changes direction and goes around her back.

There is debate online: A message from beyond the grave or a gust of wind just creating a beautiful coincidence caught on video by the grieving mother’s sister in law?

    Debate away.
But remember .. When you have a brush with the paranormal, only YOU can decide if it was real or not.
