Nicholas Brendon of Buffy fame dead at 54

Nicholas Brendon, the actor best known for playing lovable underdog Xander Harris on all seven seasons of the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, died Friday. He was 54.

His family announced news of Brendon’s death in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter

“We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes. Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years. In recent years Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans. He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. Those who truly knew him understood that his art was one of the purest reflections of who he was. While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing. Our family asks for privacy during this time as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart. Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support.”

Disclosure day coming… aliens got their dot gov!

No not the Steven Spielberg movie but instead the long rumored government disclosure. Back in the ’90s we were told disclosure would never occur because it would rock Society but now if it does occur we’re most likely going to be told by many people who believed in UFOs back then that it’s fake now.

White House has registered the domain ‘aliens.gov,’ sparking fresh speculation that President Donald Trump’s long-awaited UFO disclosure may be imminent.

The domain, linked to the Executive Office of the President, was flagged on Wednesday by an automated tracker of federal websites.

However, it is also listed in the government’s official .gov registry maintained by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Registry records show it was recently added under the White House Office alongside other official government sites, confirming it as a legitimate federal web address, though its purpose has not been publicly disclosed.

The website is not currently live, but the domain has been reserved.

The Earth is on notice: geomagnetic activity potential

Activity on the Sun has prompted NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center to issue a Geomagnetic Storm Watch for Earth for March 19 through to March 21. A coronal whole is responsible for sending two coronal mass ejections (CME) towards earth. The Watch calls for a G2-level storm on a 5 point scale, with the possibility of it being upgraded to a G3-level event.

“While there is a high level of uncertainty related to the CME arrivals, there is more certainty regarding the likely CH HSS effects to begin by 21 March, with at least a G2 storm levels likely,” said the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) in a statement.  They added, “There is at least a slight chance for G3 (Strong) storm conditions throughout this period. • Conan does Gladys at the Academy Awards

Conan does Gladys at the Academy Awards

The Oscars broadcast this year has been getting some criticism for being a bit of a snooze. Long stretches of polite applause, safe speeches, and not a whole lot of memorable moments. But then Conan O’Brien showed up and briefly woke the entire room up.

In one of the few genuinely funny moments of the night, Conan popped up in a surprise bit playing Aunt Gladys. The gag was pure Conan. A ridiculous wig, exaggerated mannerisms, and that perfectly awkward delivery that only he can pull off. It was weird, unexpected, and for a few minutes the Oscars actually felt alive again.

The bit worked even better because it tied directly into the award that followed. The actress behind the character of Gladys ended up winning, which made the entire setup feel even more absurd in the best possible way. Conan leaned into the joke and milked it for everything it was worth, and the audience clearly appreciated finally getting something that didn’t feel overly scripted.

It was funny.. very very Conan..

Meanwhile, one of the big stories of the night was Sinners, which showed up again and again as envelopes were opened.

The film picked up several wins throughout the evening, including a major acting victory for Michael B. Jordan and multiple technical awards, making it one of the most talked about films of the ceremony.

But when it came time for the final award of the night, Sinners didn’t take home the big one. The Oscar for Best Picture ultimately went to Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which ended up being the night’s biggest winner overall.

That’s the strange math of the Academy Awards. A movie can dominate the conversation all night and still watch the biggest prize go somewhere else.

But if people are being honest about what they’ll remember from this broadcast, it probably won’t be the Best Picture announcement. Of all the moments from the night, Conan O’Brien’s bizarre Aunt Gladys intro skit might end up being the most memorable thing that happened. In a ceremony that sometimes felt like it was drifting along, that was the moment that actually woke the room up.

Jamie Lee Curtis calls Blumhouse “notoriously cheap”

Jamie Lee Curtis didn’t know she was about to take on three more “Halloween” movies when she said yes to David Gordon Green’s 2018 film, the sequel to her 1978 film.

During a SXSW panel titled, “If Not Now, When, if Not Me, Who? Pivoting and Manifesting,” Curtis opened up about filmmaking and her career as an actress and producer. She first named her appreciation for Jason Blum.

“The only reason I am sitting in this chair today is because of Jason. Jason Blum, who runs Blumhouse, is the one who brought back the ‘Halloween’ movies,” she said. However, when she got the call, she thought it was one movie and didn’t hear until way later that they were planning to do more..

She went on to attack Blumhouse as notoriously cheap staing it was their model of horror movie productions..

Some type of very bad trailer just happened

The Duffer Brothers, fresh from quickly walking away from Stranger Things and whatever that last season was, is moving on to more bad things..

The trailer for SOMETHING VERY BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN is now out..

Created by Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor, Baby Reindeer), executive produced Matt and Ross Duffer and directed and executive produced by Weronika Tofilska (Baby Reindeer), Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen takes place in the week leading up to a doomed wedding, following the bride and groom. A fuller synopsis reads:

“If CARRIE is horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and ROSEMARY’S BABY is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother, SOMETHING VERY BAD IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN is horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife. Rachel [Morrone] is getting married in five days. Together with her fiancé, Nicky [DiMarco], she embarks on a road trip to his family’s vacation home, secluded in a snowy forest, for the intimate wedding ceremony of their dreams. Which really would be so lovely, except…prone to superstition and paranoia, Rachel can’t shake the relentless feeling that something bad is going to happen. Her foreboding doubts, coupled with a series of eerie coincidences and dreadful surprises, force her to ask the question: What makes two people soulmates? And worse—what could be scarier than lifelong commitment to the wrong person?”

That seems to be a very long synopsis that we had to read a few times to really take in.

But at this point the ultimate viewer reaction to the trailer has been criticism of how DARK the screen was during the entire thing, joking about the camera quality and the Netflix attempt to see how dark peoples’ screens will be during the trailer..

Something, indeed, is going to be bad. Hopefully not this limited series…
