Or am I In this alone!?!
You are NOT alone..

When I was 14, sneaking onto the steps to listen to my father listening to Art Bell at 2am, it was magical..
When I graduated high school and stayed up later the summer of 99 doing it on my own, on an AM radio, it was amazing.
After 9/11, Art Bell calmed me down.
During Katrina, the same..
The generation that has grown up since he left Coast doesn’t known long form radio.. true paranormal radio.. deep thought.. science.. conjecture based insight and intelligence.
They are about to.
The fans from then are going to unite with the newcomers from now.
For those who are about to listen to ART BELL for the first time, be aware you will never want to go to bed again.
IT begins tonight.

When it was announced that Art Bell’s MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT would join monster broadcaster KXL in Oregon, the station bragged about having the two biggest stars in paranormal radio: Bell and Clyde Lewis, who hosts Ground Zero five nights a week. For years, Lewis’ program has been five solid hours–often times some of the information was rehashed hourly to make way for new affiliates joining.
Lewis announced on Facebook hours ago that Bell’s joining of KXL will cut his program from the almost half a dozen hours to three.
From Lewis:
The 11 o clock hour will be our last local Hour. Starting Monday we will air on KXL for three Hours –and then we welcome Art Bell to KXL.! We will see you at ECETI tomorrow Thank you for three years of keeping us alive for 5 hours every night —
Reader reactions in the comment thread have positive overall.
As has the HORROR REPORT over the years.
Though there has been a well-known appreciation for Art Bell on this website, there has been an equal amount of love shown for Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis. Lewis has even publicly said he reads the HORROR REPORT. I am honored to know that, just as honored as I was when Art Bell linked this page on both his Faecbook and Twitter accounts.
Clyde Lewis has helped me get through more than enough nights during the past couple of years. His broadcasting skill is evident, but his dedication to broadcasting and the subject matter he covers is strong. How many medical issues has he had, but yet comes back to work for fans to hear his voice again?
And now Clyde and Art storm through the night.
As one comment on Facebook observed,
Well, I guess there is no reason to listen to Coast anymore.

*WITH EDITS FROM THE FINE FOLKS AT BELLGAB
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE MIDNIGHT
And all through the ‘Coast,’
U7 was busy
Playing all past Ghost to Ghosts
Bell fans were nestled all snug with earbuds
While tales of Mel’s hole replaced Noory’s old sludge
And Hoagland with glass Moons and Area 51,
Nostalgia was strong, Bell was missed a ton.
When out from my radio there arose such a clatter
I sprung from my smartphone to see what was the matter
Away to the shortwave I flew like a flash
And heard and old friend’s voice as the thunder .wav clashed.
The Chase was the sound under the midnight moon’s glare
Crystal Gayle’s song set the moon with care
when what to my schtrange eyes should appear
But a Premiere Executive And George’s famed snear
With Tommy so sluggish, not lively or quick
Tried to best to stay with Art’s schtick
More rapid their heartbeats as July 20th came
The product they feature is often quite lame
“Now Tommy! Now Lisa!
Now cue cards and Guests hosts
Like Garr and Willis
Advertise dating!
You’re not alone
But Art’s back
Coast is for Drones
And then in a twinkling I heard on the roof
Julie Talbott figure out that they’ve given us goofs
As I turned off the old show my head was turning around
I saw Noory’s stache falling with a frown
The Kingdom of Nye was steamrolling back
Art Bell’s old bumpers were found on the stack
The Desert is alive with the noise of the night
Shadow people and aliens, Time Travel and Flight.
Midnight has come, and it’s been so long
Sirius was ok, but Chunga was wrong.
No matter all that, the Desert’s Alive
Dick Hoagland’s prepped to take us till 5
Art Bell is back, with a thunderous roar
The Night is Alive.
Goodbye to the bores.

A tale of two Clydes.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Clyde Lewis. And Art Bell. But it sure is interesting to see how Clyde Lewis has changed his viewpoint about the Art Bell return to radio.. a few days ago a listener asked Lewis if he would interview Bell. You can see from his response that the answer was defiantly NO.
A few days later, Lewis’ flagship station KXL in Portland picked up MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT. And last night, as seen here, Bell and Lewis had a phone call like old times.
Competition one day, a team the next. Radio is a funny biz..

As Art Bell winds down his last week off before starting MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT on July 20, big news is breaking involving his return: Home of Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis is adding Bell’s program to the lineup. KXL in Portland Oregon, a massive station with wide coverage over the Northwest, will air 10pm to 1am immediately after Lewis’ program.
MORE..
In the press release from Alpha Media, Scott Mahalick, executive VP of programming, said, “We’re thrilled to be amping up our paranormal broadcast activity with the addition of Art Bell following Clyde Lewis’ Ground Zero. It’s a home run for Alpha Media to have the two biggest talents anchored on FM NEWS 101 KXL.”
Recent days has seen other Bell related tidbits popping up around the internet.Steve Warner recently interviewed famed Coast guest Richard C. Hoagland about the ‘soap opera’ that has become Coast to Coast. Hoagland won an old bet to host one night of Coast, and he asked George Noory to allow him to broadcast today during the amazing NASA Pluto flyby. Though Noory originally agreed, the planned suddenly changed with Coast producers telling Hoagland he can have a night on July 20–the same night that Bell begins his show. Instead, the tables were turned with the OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT being announced and Hoagland getting the chance to do his own program after MIDNIGHT. Coast effectively banned him from future appearances on that show.
As Bell gets prepped for his radio gig to restart, he is also did a REDDIT AMA at 630 July 14.
The countdown clock gets closer to midnight..
And the big stations are now lining up.
