The end of GOD? Claims humans will ‘worship AI Messiah’Dan Brown:Speaking about the advent of this…

    Dan Brown:

Speaking about the advent of this technology, the Da Vinci Code writer said: “Humanity no longer needs God but may with the help of artificial intelligence develop a new form of collective consciousness that fulfils the role of religion.

“Are we naive today to believe that the gods of the present will survive and be here in a hundred years?”

According to Daily Galaxy, MIT physicist and cosmologist Max Tegmark also said that once this new superintelligence is vastly greater than that of a human, the fate of mankind will depend on it.

Scientists work out what will happen when the sun dies

Professor Albert Zijslra says, ‘When a star dies it ejects a mass of gas and dust – known as its envelope – into space.

‘The envelope can be as much as half the star’s mass. This reveals the star’s core, which by this point in the star’s life is running out of fuel, eventually turning off and before finally dying.

‘It is only then the hot core makes the ejected envelope shine brightly for around 10,000 years – a brief period in astronomy. This is what makes the planetary nebula visible.

‘Some are so bright that they can be seen from extremely large distances measuring tens of millions of light years, where the star itself would have been much too faint to see.’

spiPhone X: Brave new world with a filter

It is hard to believe that only ten years ago, the technology that Apple would be selling the public was just about unfathomable.. Extremely fast processors. Facial recognition. Emojis that can make poop turn into your face and voice.

In 2007, people were happy with Myspace and turning ‘off’ the net in favor of a night out. Now they can’t leave home without the smartphone.
Apple wants to capitalize further on the influencers: Those who we are told have ‘disposable income’ (credit cards) and are below the age of 25 .. those who care less about processor speed and more about selfie. Those who would indeed literally buy an iPhone simply because it can turn their face into an Emoji of feces…

Let’s pause for a moment. The most precious few seconds of Apple’s big unveiling was a big flop: They tried to announce facial recognition but when they actually attempted to use it, it failed.

Apple has offered an explanation for an embarrassing glitch at the launch of its most expensive iPhone ever, arguing that the phone didn’t make an error – the company’s staff did.

During the first ever public demonstration of the expensive iPhone X, Apple executive Craig Federighi attempted to unlock the device using the company’s new Face ID feature, which scans a user’s face to ensure only they can unlock their phones. But the feature failed, bumping Federighi to an old-fashioned passcode entry screen and forcing him to switch to a backup phone.

Too many people. Not tech. The people.

    The people ruin everything!

But it’s pretty interesting to say the least: The biggest selling point of Apple in 2017 is a device that can see you, get to know you, and also stay knowing you even as you age. As your facial features change.

The cutting edge of yesterday was fingerprint.. now it’s motion sensing, unlocking with gestures, and facial definitions that will be forever surveiled by your very own pocket spiPhone.  How quaint.

I am not going to lie to myself, though. AT this point there is really no way that technology slows down. There is no ability or us to quell the march of advancement. In a few years, when iPhones or smart phones of your own choice are firmly implanted in either your hand or buttocks, facial recognition will look so 2000 and late.

Yes indeed… Things that would have been either laughed at or feared 20 years ago are completely and perfectly normal now. And expensive.

Thankfully we all have that ‘disposable’ income… Income that is mostly disposed of in the form of debt payments, late payments, and school loans that are constantly being tinkered with because of how high a percentage of your take home pay they consume.

But all that can be on hold for a while!

A new phone is out. And I can make by face an Emoji if shit.

2017, baby. The future is now.

Scientists have uploaded a short movie of a galloping horse into the DNA of living bacteria and were able to retrieve it with a 90% success rate “DNA has a lot of properties that are good for archival storage,” Shipman said. “It’s much more stable than silicon memory if you wanted to hold something for thousands of years.” In the new study, published Wednesday in the journal Nature, Shipman wanted to see if bacterial DNA could be used to record the order in which new information was added to its genome.

Harvesting Blood From Babies’ Umbilical Cords Could Help Reverse Aging:

Bodily fluids understandably make people queasy, especially when substances like animal blood are used in art. But if the blood of a newborn baby could make you feel young again, could you overcome your revulsion?

That may sound like a horror movie pitch, but thanks to a group of Stanford University scientists Peter Thiel’s dream of injecting himself with young peoples’ blood could become a reality.

Researchers at the California institution’s department of neurology found that blood harvested from babies’ umbilical cords had strong anti-aging effects in mice. Specifically, they discovered that a protein in the young blood called TIMP2possessed rejuvenating properties. The results were published Wednesday in the journal Nature.

  • The merging of man and machine

The merging of man and machine

Remember when Elon Musk said humankind would have to somehow merge with machines if we want to stay relevant in the face of the inevitable war between us and our robot overlords? He wasn’t kidding, and he’s formed a new company dedicated to figuring out how to do just that. Somewhere in between electric cars,…

via Elon Musk Forming Company Dedicated To Merging Humans With Machines — Consumerist

The article is linked.. you can read it in its entirety.. Among the money quotes most important:

That tech involves embedding little electrodes in a human brain that could eventually upload and download thoughts, which is not at all creepy and we can’t see how such a process could possibly lead to any kind of mass-scale human slaughter.

At first, however, the new company has plans to develop cranial computers in order to do things like treating epilepsy or major depression, the insiders say.

While Musk didn’t respond to the WSJ’s request for comment, a person who says he’s “a member of the founding team” confirmed the company’s existence and the fact that Musk is involved.

In February, Musk said we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence.

I think we are beyond the point of return.. So many people still raise their eyebrows at me when I mention that man and machine will be merged–and that a set goal is to make it happen! They scoff at the notion that we are creating a future minus emotion, and one clearly set on combining the most effective ways of existence with humanity..  But it is happening. It is true. And it is coming. If people still roll their eyes, read the Rolfe Winkler article from the Wall Street JOURNAL..

At this point I don’t even offer opinions.. simply telling this to people is enough. I think there is a certain point–the one of no return–where you give in. You give up. You realize that the future is coming like a steamroller, either from hell or heaven.

Will it be all that bad? Imagine just thinking about something and your brain, being connected to the Internet, googles it on its own.. knows the answer without thinking. Doesn’t need to waste time learning but instead can just “know” .. It will be too cool for school. Teachers won’t be needed.. heck, maybe even the parental nest will be antiquated and a relic of a distance 20th and early 21st century past..

This merging and connection together is going to quickly and immensely change everything we know. There is no stopping progress. Even if this is not progress to you, it’s a ‘go’ …

So prepare now.. Gather ye rosebuds while we may.. Human time a learnin’..
The same brain thinking today tomorrow will be mergin’

Google is going to check your facts from. Sensitive people to rate. The future is now.

Raters now have access to a new “Upsetting-Offensive” flag which Google says should be used in the following instances:

    • Content that promotes hate or violence against a group of people based on criteria including (but not limited to) race or ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality or citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
    • Content with racial slurs or extremely offensive terminology.
    • Graphic violence, including animal cruelty or child abuse.
    • Explicit how to information about harmful activities (e.g., how tos on human trafficking or violent assault).
    • Other types of content which users in your locale would find extremely upsetting or offensive.

    And there is more:

Just being upsetting isn’t enough for raters to flag search results. Google points to an example regarding a “Holocaust history” search: one result is a Holocaust denial site, which the company says deserves the flag. The other, a website from The History Channel, might be upsetting due to subject matter but is a “factually accurate source of historical information” and doesn’t promote the hateful content mentioned above.

Forgive me for being insensitive or potentially offensive, but I miss the wild west of the net.. when things were free and fierce, uncensored and raw..

The content police may take things too far.

The contractor model is so prevalent that Google parent Alphabet Inc., ranked by Fortune magazine as the best place to work for seven of the past 10 years, has roughly equal numbers of outsourced workers and full-time employees, according to people familiar with the matter.

About 70,000 TVCs—an abbreviation for temps, vendors and contractors—test drive Google’s self-driving cars, review legal documents, make products easier and better to use, manage marketing and data projects, and do many other jobs. They wear red badges at work, while regular Alphabet employees wear white ones.
