Man dressed as Freddy Krueger shoots five at Halloween party:

A Halloween party turned violent overnight with shots fired and five people injured and sent to the hospital.

According to police, around 5 a.m. early Sunday morning at a house on the 2900 block of Aspen Meadow, several males showed up to a Halloween party and started causing trouble.

Police say that one of the males, dressed as Freddy Krueger, pulled a gun from his costume and opened fire on the crowd.

Officials said that three of the victims were taken to University Hospital.

Police noted that one of the injured women tried to drive to the hospital but wrecked her car along the way.

Police are still searching for the suspects.

Stories like this get me a little annoyed..
Local news has incidents of murders and shootings each night. But when someone is dressed as Freddy during the Halloween season, it gets linked on Drudge and the entire world knows about it within seconds..

Not to degrade the people who were hurt.. but the only reason why you are reading this and I am linking this is because the ‘news’ biz picked up the story .. it is enticing to read that someone dressed as Freddy did this.. and it also gives excuses for local news affiliates to find stock images of Robert Englund dressed as Fred to use in their articles.

    Pathetic and sad…

Some Florida residents plan armed trick-or-treating after creepy clown ‘threats’!:

In South Florida, Broward County schools prohibited clown costumes for Halloween activities, according to a Sun Sentinel reporter.

Parents received phone messages this week that said: “While many of the clown threats in our community and across the nation have proven to be hoaxes, it is still best for us to continue to operate in an abundance of caution.”

Ridiculous, as I have written before and will again next year when the August through fall small town clown romp begins anew..

But for tonight, don’t ARM YOURSELF to deal with clowns..
And …. as the message from the schools in Florida have even admitted, most of these clown ‘threats’ have been hoaxes and fake anyway.

  • Why we still need ghosts

    Why we still need ghosts

Why we still need ghosts :

    Very interesting article from CNN

M(CNN)Do we still need ghosts? The short answer is: yes. In a digital age, where science and logic rules, where all the information we need is at our fingertips, you might think ghost stories would have gradually died out by now. But it turns out I’ve found just the opposite.

Ghost stories are still very much a part of the 21st century world, and new ghost legends seem to be appearing all the time. When I began researching ghosts and haunted places for my book, I expected mostly to find stories dating to the 19th century and earlier: Civil War soldiers, cowboys, maybe some Puritans. But in addition to these stories, I found many that are modern: houses and buildings that are newly haunted, their ghosts having emerged only in the past few years.
