  • The Easter Saturday conundrum: Lights Out. Then on.

The Easter Saturday conundrum: Lights Out. Then on.

A few days ago the light on the computer desk blew. My wife was sitting writing a check out for a bill.. no better time for a light to fade away than when you’re preparing to watch hard earned cash float down the river of bank fees and bill collection. Nonetheless, given the current state of busy affairs for my family, I have not been able to even remember to get to the store to pick up more light bulbs.. It was on my ‘thangs’ to do list.

    …and now it’s not.

Because this morning, only moments ago as I write this post, the light actually came back on by itself. Really, it did.  A miracle bulb! Burns out! And re-flares itself!

    An Easter Saturday mystery.

I am not lying, the light literally rejuvenated itself while my son was playing Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 (I call it Vegetables vs Corpses to annoy him) .. while I Was laughing about my joke of a name, and also secretly panicking because our dryer suddenly stopped working this weekend, the light literally resurrected itself from the dead.

And while I am not trying to say this is a message from God or a spirit, there is some form of high strangeness that a light, dead, lights up again. Rising from the dead. And what makes this all the more weird: It happened three days after the light burned out…..

Of course, since it is the modern world, the first thing I did was search Google. And found this interesting REDDIT post in the Glitch in the Matrix.. Someone with logic said this:

There may be a logical explanation. Inside a light bulb is a filament: a thin metal wire, coiled up like a spring. Electricity causes the filament to heat up and glow. After many heating/cooling cycles, the filament may break and the light is “burned out”.

However, the little metal spring may only be broken in one spot and could still be bouncing around inside the lightbulb. Sometimes, (due to heating, cooling, or vibration), the little spring will reconnect to the place it broke off from and you’ll get a little more life out of the bulb before it finally burns out for good.

Logic is necessary during moments of mystery.
    And the light goes on.

The highly guarded project’s panel Friday at Star Wars Celebration unveiled secrets from the film — and a new trailer.

Some hints and puzzling features in the trailer–most certainly one of the interesting comments that will be discussed: “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”

Suicide Barriers Going Up At Golden Gate Bridge After Over 1,500 Deaths

Suicide Barriers Going Up At Golden Gate Bridge After Over 1,500 Deaths:

Work officially began Thursday on a net under the Golden Gate Bridge intended to prevent and deter the dozens of suicides that take place at the iconic landmark each year.

More than 1,500 people are thought to have died there over the bridge’s 80-year lifespan.

The stainless steel net, located about 20 feet below the bridge’s sidewalk, will span 1.7 miles of roadway on each side of the bridge and extend 20 feet out over the water.

It will be built over a period of four years, at a cost of just over $200 million drawn from a mix of federal, state and local sources.

  • ROBERT ENGLUD STOLE THE FREDDY GLOVE! That and other information from Robert Englund

ROBERT ENGLUD STOLE THE FREDDY GLOVE! That and other information from Robert Englund

This revealed by the star of the movies himself, Robert Englund, at Monsterpalooza 2017..

iHorror has a good summary of the events that took place during Englund’s appearance.

The headline making part was when the glove came up..

“The original glove was given to me by Wes for pickup shots on Nightmare 2. In a little MTV stage on Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood, and I went to work, and there was this huge rumor, from you guys [points to moderator Tony Timpone] about industrial espionage because they were the weather vein of popular culture, they knew that this franchise had become even more iconic than we realized. Guys pretended to be crew members on the pickup shot day, in this little studio on Santa Monica Blvd, and they wore tool belts and everything, they were there to get the glove. And we heard about this, Kevin Yager told me this. So, I stole the real glove; I just took it. I didn’t know it came from Wes, I know it now, but I stole it that day. There were like a couple of doubles, but I stole the original glove. I’m busy being Willie from V and going to film festivals, in Paris and getting awards for Science Fiction shows and so I stuffed it, and I outlined it in red and green neon, and I floated it in a plexiglass box, and I gave it to my agent. He won’t give it back!”

There is plenty more than that to watch.. you can see it all here and it’s worth the viewing:

  • THE EASTER EGG BOTCH AT THE WHITE HOUSE

THE EASTER EGG BOTCH AT THE WHITE HOUSE

This year’s annual Easter Egg roll may be newsworthy for all the wrong reasons.. Donald Trump is busy threatening war with Kim Jong UN and dropping MOABs on Afghanistan, and that is removing headlines from what would have otherwise been a large embarrassment for the Commander in Chief: The Easter Egg roll could shape up to be a hefty disaster..

The White House, busy dismantling much of the administrative state that existed, forgot to order the eggs! Someone then must have realized that 35,000 people would be guests this weekend. Whoops.
Then the rush order for eggs were places, but the White House forgot to send the VIP military tickets that usually are sent. Then they forgot to order up big named entertainers for the guests… Then they forgot to send out invites for the normal number of 4,000 DC children at public schools–ones that get the tickets yearly.

According to published reports, last minute (holy crap moments) requests were sent to PBS KIDS for Sesame Street characters–something ironic given that the Trump budget would completely zero out the puppets from PBS..

And finally…members of Congress and their families have yet to be invited.

    Making Easter Great Again.

  • South Koreans celebrate ‘black day’ with noodles while nuclear war threats get made

South Koreans celebrate ‘black day’ with noodles while nuclear war threats get made

REUTERS reports this interesting piece of information:

Many South Koreans marked “Black Day” on Friday, but it had nothing to do with concerns that North Korea may conduct a weapons test, or that the United States, the South’s main ally, may launch a pre-emptive strike to stop it.

It had nothing to do with Good Friday or Black Friday either.

“Black Day” in South Korea is a day for singles, marked by eating “jajangmyeon”, a noodle dish topped with a thick sauce made of black beans. It’s celebrated by singles as a response to “White Day”, an Asian Valentine’s Day which falls a month earlier, on March 14.

If you lived under a rock for the past few days (I envy you to a degree if you did) North Korea tensions are potentially at the highest level in my lifetime.. even more so, the tension around the world seems to be duplicative of what happened during the Cuban Missile in the Kennedy era…

But this story about South Korea’s reaction is what interested me more, at least culturally, than the threat of nuclear end times..

You may recall that during the run-up to war in the Gulf in 1991, Kuwait was partying hard in the metro districts and eating fancy foods in the restaurants..  War broke out yet there was a peculiar distance so many had, even though they were close by. While I cannot say a comparison is appropriate between the Koreas and Kuwait, it certainly is fascinating to realize that the North’s Southern neighbors are living their single life the same way as they would have despite the Navy destroyers and special OPS threatening to doom the cheese-loving North Korean leader.

    More from REUTERS:

As tensions grew to a fever pitch elsewhere over the likelihood of North Korea conducting a nuclear or long-range missile test, possibly this weekend, there was little sign of concern in South Korea’s capital, Seoul, which lies within range of the North’s artillery.

“Outside South Korea, some people are worried, but we don’t feel like that in our daily lives,” said Choi Na-young, an office worker in central Seoul.

“All I can do is just try my best and work hard,” said Choi, as she queued for noodles with colleagues. “So no matter what the outside world thinks, I came here to enjoy Black Day”.

“Black Day” was trending on Twitter and was the leading news item on the Naver web portal in South Korea, which has one of the world’s highest percentage of Internet users as a percentage of population.

The nonchalance about the possibility of conflict with the North has grown in recent years in the South, which remains technically in a state of war with its neighbor. The 1950-53 war between the two ended in an armistice, and no peace treaty was signed.

    And the rest is history.
    Or will be…
Enjoy black day while you can. The darkness of war may threaten the land.

Google Searches For “World War 3” Hit Highest Ever Peak

Google Searches For “World War 3” Hit Highest Ever Peak:

This really should come as no surprise.. the search term “World War 3″ it at its highest level in internet history.. maybe because we are the closest to world war 3 in history!? ….I have heard a lot of commentators stating that the tension in the world right now–Tillerson vs Putin, Trump vs Un, Trump  vs Assad, is at its highest level since the Cuban Missile Crisis. The scariest part of this entire thing is how it would take just one match to light a fuse in just one nation that is diametrically opposed to each other and .. poof.. you have a frightening scenario where NATO nations go to war against the non-NATO powers..

Yes, indeed…..April has never been a good month in world history.

  • UNDFRESH EXPRESS! THERE’S A BAT IN YOUR FRESH BELFRY

UNDFRESH EXPRESS! THERE’S A BAT IN YOUR FRESH BELFRY

    This is gross..

Two people were recommended for post-exposure rabies treatment after a consumer in Florida reported finding a dead bat in a packaged salad mix, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday.

The bat was sent to the CDC after it was found in a bag of Fresh Express Organic Marketside Spring Mix.
“The deteriorated condition of the bat did not allow for CDC to definitively rule out whether this bat had rabies,” the Atlanta-based agency said.
The whole story is quite repulsive. Move over meat eaters.. now veggiebiters have to wonder: What’s in their spring mix!
