AMERICANS GET READY FOR THEIR PURGE: THE CLEANING

    THE GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN UP

Apparently showers and other hygiene products weren’t that busy during the pandemic. That is implied by this WALL STREET JOURNAL article detailing deodorants now suddenly flying off the shelves…

Can we expect a “deodorant shortage” next?

From the article, it appears Americans are getting ready for action in the summer of 21:

Deodorant, teeth whitener and condoms are in high demand. Sales of perfume, nail polish, swimsuits, sunscreen, tuxedos, luggage and alarm clocks are climbing fast, according to companies that make these products and large retailers…

Beauty products and teeth whiteners were big sellers during the most recent quarter at Walmart Inc., finance chief Brett Biggs said in an interview. “You can tell that the masks are coming off,” he said.

And this interesting twist in the life of someone who did not shave since the beginning of COVID-19:

Noel Kittredge, a 32-year-old student from Albuquerque, N.M., recently shaved for the first time in a year. He has ventured out only a few times since the pandemic began and felt especially nervous about being around people after both his mother and grandmother contracted the virus.

Mr. Kittredge didn’t shave all that regularly before the pandemic, but as he makes plans to socialize it was time, he said. “I’m tired of being cooped up,” he said.

Study shows dogs can detect Covid-positive arrivals

The dogs needed to be trained not to identify “false positives” in a bid to hack their reward system and obtain treats even if there were no Covid-19 samples in a given test.

“This means that the dog fully understands and gets a reward for a correct negative as well as a correct positive,” said Claire Guest, from the school’s Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases.

Overall, the dogs were successfully able to identify between 94 and 82 percent of SARS-CoV-2 samples.

Dogs are already good at detecting cancer and other disease.. and now Covid–apparently with better accuracy than even tests! Dogs have better luck ignoring the false positives!

Just watch out for the dog flu 😷 🙂

Wuhan lab: New US report on researchers’ illness furthers debate on Covid-19 origins

A US intelligence report found that several researchers at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology fell ill in November 2019 and had to be hospitalized, a new detail about the severity of their symptoms that could fuel further debate about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, according to two people briefed on the intelligence.

A State Department fact sheet released by the Trump administration in January said that the researchers had gotten sick in autumn 2019 but did not go as far as to say they had been hospitalized. China reported to the World Health Organization that the first patient with Covid-like symptoms was recorded in Wuhan on December 8, 2019.

  • THE EMPEROR HAS NO MASK ON!

THE EMPEROR HAS NO MASK ON!

Tons of face masks were burned during protests at various state capitols 2020 .. the reaction was shock, awe, and outrage.

Today the CDC said you can ditch the face covering both indoors and outdoors if you are vaccinated..

    Let the burnings begin?

The new guidance still calls for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters, but will help clear the way for reopening workplaces, schools, and other venues — even removing the need for masks or social distancing for those who are fully vaccinated.

The CDC will also no longer recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks outdoors in crowds. The announcement comes as the CDC and the Biden administration have faced pressure to ease restrictions on fully vaccinated people — people who are two weeks past their last required COVID-19 vaccine dose — in part to highlight the benefits of getting the shot.

Meanwhile the First Lady feels naked!

‘We feel naked,’ the first lady said about not wearing a mask. Then she paused. ‘I didn’t mean it that way!’

    COVID worries and woes

Three stories circulating causing concern today..

    • Mucormycosis, or “black fungus”, is a potentially fatal infection affecting COVID-19 patients in India, where doctors believe it may be triggered by the use of steroids. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued an advisory, saying that the infection has been affecting “people who are on medication for other health problems that reduce their ability to fight environmental pathogens.” MORE HERE..
    • THE CDC IS CAUSING CONCERN AFTER LIMITING STUDIES ON PEOPLE WHO GET REINFECTED AFTER GETTING THEIR COVID VACCINE.. MORE: Federal health officials this month decided to limit how they monitor vaccinated people who have been infected with Covid-19, drawing concern from some scientists who say that may mean missing needed data showing why and how it happens.. At the end of April, more than 9,000 Americans were reported to be infected after being vaccinated, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While that’s a tiny percentage of the 95 million people fully inoculated at the time, researchers still want to find out what specific mechanisms may be spurring the infections.
    • AND FINALLY THE B.01 BOMBER OF BRAZIL HAS MADE IT TO FLORIDA.. A new mutation of the highly contagious Brazilian COVID-19 variant has emerged in Florida, health officials said. The newest variant, dubbed P2 or P.1.1, has a slightly different sequence than Brazil’s P1 strain, which has been found to be more likely to reinfect people who have already had the virus, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

  • PFIZER GOES FOR FULL APPROVAL

    PFIZER GOES FOR FULL APPROVAL

The vaccine rush has left Johnson and Johnson grasping for air.. Pfizer’s profits have been wide.. In just the first four months of vaccines being administered, the company reportedly earned $3.5 billion with a B .. it is expected to have close to $30 bil in profits in 2021!

The roaring 20s for the roarings Pharms..

Meanwhile Pfizer will be heading to the federal government to get full final approval of its arm jabs, with the goal in mind of having the age 2 to 12 bracket in getting vaccinated in September for the 21/22 school year.

Pfizer is the first coronavirus vaccine maker in the U.S. to request full approval. Like Pfizer, the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines had been previously cleared for use under the agency’s emergency use authorization — a less rigorous approval method to aid a swifter response to the pandemic.

An FDA approval for a vaccine means the agency has decided that its benefits outweigh the known risks following a review of the manufacturer’s testing results.

If granted, Pfizer’s full stamp of approval would only apply to the vaccine for people who are 16 and older. Meanwhile, the vaccine maker is seeking emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine to include children between 12 and 15.

    The kids aren’t alright

Pfizer said it will seek emergency authorization for the COVID vaccine for kids ages 2-11 in September, The New York Times reported .. The news comes as the the FDA is expected to authorize the Pfizer vaccine for kids 12-15 in the next week, sources have said. In March, the pharmaceutical giant began testing the vaccine on kids aged 6 months to 11 years old.

    MANDATE

The other implication, Dr. Avula said, was possible governmental mandating of the vaccine. “When we’ve tackled this question over the last few months, it wasn’t even a consideration because the government couldn’t mandate a vaccine that was under EUA, Emergency Use Authorization. Now that we, you know, may be seeing this move to full licensure in a few months — that does open up the possibility,” said Dr. Avula.

  • Don’t you wish your vaccine was hot like mine

Don’t you wish your vaccine was hot like mine

Earlier we reported on how it looks like the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was virtually crippled by the pause..

Everything is political. Even .. yes.. even vaccines.

Apparently you can gleam a lot into the personal political choices of someone by their vaccine they get? Or at least this is what ‘pop culture’ is telling us. So it has got taaaa bee true, right!?

The latest vaccine rage online apparently consists of which vaccine is hottest. Prettiest. The most alluring and gratifying …

    And the winner is Pfizer!

You see this shot get hot
    Every antibody comes through..
When I step up in the spot (are you ready?)
Make the vaccine sizzle like a summertime cookout
Prowl for the best shot, yes I’m on the lookout (let’s dance)
Slow banging shorty like a dancer with the RONA
Smell good, pretty skin, so gangsta with it (oh, baby)
No tricks only diamonds under my sleeve
Gimme the number, but give me the T cells before you leave…

    RNA is king

The Atlantic published something we quite honestly were not aware of.. a certain rage of vaccine envy is taking place on the socials. Apparently, as summarized by author Kaitlyn Tiffany, the internet as a whole has decided that Pfizer is the best of all! The hottest for the summer sex season!

    From the report:

At the moment, the internet is full of jokes about all the things you still can’t do after you’ve gotten vaccinated—like taking my hand and dragging me headfirst, which is part of a Taylor Swift song from 2008; removing the green ribbon from around your neck, a reference to a disturbing children’s story in which a woman named Jenny does that and then her head falls off; or emerging “from the soil after 17 years to shed your outer cuticular layer & scream into the ether in unison,” which is a subtweet of cicadas. I’m laughing, but what are we talking about? Weirder still, one vaccine in particular—from Pfizer—has somehow become the cool vaccine, as well as the vaccine for the rich and stylish. Slate’s Heather Schwedel recently discussed the “Pfizer superiority complex” at length. As one source told her: “One of my cousins got Moderna, and I was like, ‘That’s OK. We need a strong middle class.’” On Twitter, the vaccinated are changing their usernames to reflect their new personal identities: There are Pfizer Princesses and Pfizer Floozies and Pfizer Pfairies and at least one Portrait of a Lady on Pfizer. “Pfizer is what was available when I signed up,” Jagger Blaec, a 33-year-old podcast host told me, “but it’s no coincidence every baddie I know has Pfizer and not Moderna.” Isn’t it a coincidence, though?

The TikTok culture has solidified the notion that only hot people get Pfizer.. or that Pfizer makes you hot.

This is not science of course.. but we don’t care about facts in 2021. The last decade has proven that facts are just opinions in your own windmills of your mind.

Don’t cha wish your vaccine was hot like me?
Don’t cha wish your vaccine was an RNA freak like me?
    Don’t cha?
    Don’t cha?
Don’t cha wish your vaccine was raw like me?
    Don’t cha wish your vaccine
    was fun like me?
    Don’t cha?
    Don’t cha?

    The ATLANTIC article continues:

Pfizer elitism seems to have originated on TikTok, where the vaccine hierarchy has been most concretely outlined. I wondered if it might have something to do with the particulars of that platform, so I reached out to Shauna Pomerantz, a TikTok scholar and an associate professor at Brock University, in Ontario. She suggested a much simpler explanation: The idea of a rich-hot-bougie-elite-status vaccine comes out of American culture, she said, in which everything is extremely competitive and organized around “winners and losers rather than support and kindness.” Yikes.

This world sure is a mad, mad world.

    Move over classism.

    Welcome to vaccism.

  • Why did COVID vaccines suddenly decline? The answer in a graph

Why did COVID vaccines suddenly decline? The answer in a graph

A few headlines to set this up:

Vaccinations slowing as supply outstrips demand…

Many police officers spurn as departments avoid mandates…

Iowa turns down 71% of available jabs…

….it would seem that despite the rosy scenario of 100 million doses being administered across the United States, there has been a suddenly decline of enthusiasm for getting the shot.. Or shots.

    Why?

Perhaps the answers can be assumed after seeing one graphical representation of usage across the United States.

It would appear that when the Johnson & Johnson pause occurred because of blood clots, all vaccines went down. With the complete tanking of the J&J it would appear that no one knows the pause has been un-paused again…

  • The hard part of herd immunity

The hard part of herd immunity

The New York TIMES generated some chatter on the Internets for a report that ‘herd immunity’ may not occur in the United States..

Though American cases have yet again been falling, perhaps that seasonal spring sun has worked to get people in fresh air again.. also 100 million vaccines have been administered in the United States. The rest of the world has seen a surge of the scourge, but to date North America has been watching a reprieve in the hell.

Apoorva Mandavilli writes this in the TIMES:

Early in the pandemic, when vaccines for the coronavirus were still just a glimmer on the horizon, the term “herd immunity” came to signify the endgame: the point when enough Americans would be protected from the virus so we could be rid of the pathogen and reclaim our lives. Now, more than half of adults in the United States have been inoculated with at least one dose of a vaccine. But daily vaccination rates are slipping, and there is widespread consensus among scientists and public health experts that the herd immunity threshold is not attainable — at least not in the foreseeable future, and perhaps not ever. Instead, they are coming to the conclusion that rather than making a long-promised exit, the virus will most likely become a manageable threat that will continue to circulate in the United States for years to come, still causing hospitalizations and deaths but in much smaller numbers.

The TIMES article focuses on the dwindling vaccination rates, and the variants. Mandavilla writes, “It is already clear, however, that the virus is changing too quickly, new variants are spreading too easily and vaccination is proceeding too slowly for herd immunity to be within reach anytime soon.”

The world deserves truth and now fanciful lies and feel good ”flatten the curve” style phrases. People need to realize that this virus will undoubtedly now stay in circulation for the foreseeable future. It will not go away.. with time and medical intervention, there will be a lessening degree of severity. But it should never be assumed that this can be eradicated 100% ..

That said, some of the perilous stories about vaccine compliance dropping forgets one more thing: Natural immunity .. there are some estimate that up to 1/3 of Americans already had COVID at some point during the previous year..

That adds to the notion of ‘herd’ immunity.

However, there is one more thing to consider: The question of how long immunity will last.

We have seen stories of vaccinated people getting COVID. Or those who had the virus getting it again.. Even some stories from other nations have dropped stating that people get TWO COVIDS (two variants) at one time!

It is fascinating to consider the ‘flatten the curve’ stay at home world of 2020.. This from the TIMES:

Once the novel coronavirus began to spread across the globe in early 2020, it became increasingly clear that the only way out of the pandemic would be for so many people to gain immunity — whether through natural infection or vaccination — that the virus would run out of people to infect. The concept of reaching herd immunity became the implicit goal in many countries, including the United States.
