Forty-four years ago today, Halloween III: Season of the Witch was released into theaters, and quite frankly, audiences didn’t know what to make of it. No Michael Myers, no familiar white mask, just an evil corporation making Halloween masks, robots disguised as people, and a bizarre plot involving Stonehenge and television commercials that could kill children.
It was absolute lunacy. And perhaps that’s why, more than four decades later, the movie has become such a beloved cult classic. But what if someone finally figured out how to bring that lunacy back and make it feel like something that actually happened?
Give it a watch!
Enter filmmaker Jason Eisener and his incredible new short film, Project Shamrock: The Secret Origins of Michael Myers Exposed. Eisener, known for Hobo with a Shotgun, Kids vs. Aliens, and his work on Dark Side of the Ring, has created something that could very well serve as a road map for bringing Halloween III back to life. The short presents what appears to be an old interview with a janitor who worked at the infamous Silver Shamrock company.
Through his recollections and disturbing archival-style footage, we’re given a glimpse into the company’s dark history, including the possibility that a young Michael Myers was once part of its secret experiments.
It takes the farce and absurdity of Halloween III and somehow legitimizes it!
By presenting the story almost like a true-crime documentary, Silver Shamrock suddenly feels like a real corporation with a dark past, employees who know too much, and secrets that have been buried for decades.
The grainy footage and old-fashioned interview style make it feel like something discovered in a forgotten television archive. And it’s not just some digital trickery. Eisener and his crew actually used 8mm and 16mm film to create that vintage appearance.
…and then the possibility of connecting Halloween III with the Michael Myers mythology? Interesting..
For years, the third film has existed in its own strange little universe, completely disconnected from the masked killer who made the franchise famous. But this short offers a fascinating possibility. What if the two worlds were connected all along? And what if Silver Shamrock was involved in something far more sinister than we ever imagined?
Now, this is an independent fan project, not an officially announced sequel. But Hollywood should be paying attention.
Imagine an entire movie presented this way, with interviews from former Silver Shamrock employees, lost corporate footage, and a true-crime investigation into what really happened inside that factory. It could be downright terrifying without losing any of the bizarre charm that made the original movie so memorable.
For decades, Halloween III was the oddball of the franchise, the movie that didn’t belong. But perhaps 44 years later, we’re finally realizing just how much potential was there all along. Eisener has managed to make Silver Shamrock mysterious, nostalgic, and frightening again in just one short film.
Maybe Hollywood doesn’t need to reinvent Halloween III. Maybe it just needs to take a look at what this filmmaker accomplished.
And maybe it’s time to turn the television back on.
