    HURRICANE THREATENS NORTHEAST: NEW YORK CITY IN CONE!

    Hurricane Henri *still a tropical storm at press time* threatens anywhere from the New Jersey coast line all the way to Maine..

    This could also be the first storm to hit in this fashion in three decades..

    At this moment, a storm surge warning has been issued for the south shore of Long Island from Mastic Beach eastward to Montauk, on the north shore of Long Island from Oyster Bay eastward to Montauk, as well as from Greenwich, Connecticut east to Chatham, Massachusetts, including Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Block Island.

    A storm surge warning is issued when there is a threat of life-threatening storm surge within the next 36 hours.

    Some models are even including New York City dangerous close to a direct path of the storm..

    A hurricane warning has been issued for Long Island from Fire Island Inlet and from Port Jefferson Harbor eastward, as well as from New Haven, Connecticut, to Watch Hill, Rhode Island. A hurricane warning is issued 36 hours before the first onset of tropical-storm-force winds

    A hurricane watch continues for Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Block Island, and from Watch Hill, Rhode Island eastward to Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts. A hurricane watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds. Hurricane conditions are possible in the watch areas Sunday, with tropical storm conditions by early Sunday.

    A tropical storm watch has been issued west of Manasquan Inlet, New Jersey to East Rockaway Inlet, New York, including New York City. A tropical storm watch means tropical storm conditions are possible within 48 hours.

    Long Island is currently expected to face the biggest brunt from Henri..

    Several days ago, REDDIt user fielding24 posted a photo of New York City during the most recent snowstorm.. It was immediately heavily shared and comments have labeled the picture as one of the greatest ever.. One poignant user wrote, “Eerie isn’t it. A game based on a devastating pandemic in NYC during the middle of winter and here we are.”

    The photo is remarkable for a few reasons..

    It features the beauty and grit of New York along with once busy streets tampered down by a snowstorn.. and the ambulance reminds us also of the virus. A virus that created space on sidewalks long prior to the blizzard of 2021.

    To the Reddit user’s credit, it truly is like the cover of a video game about a pandemic in a end times scenario..

    Another REDDIT user said, “Was walking back from work (tv studio) with my kids the other day, we walked about 2 blocks in midtown passing literally nobody, no cars, no people, nothing, at 3 pm on a weekday. My daughter flapped her arms around and whispered to me, ‘are we still on set?’”

    Not only possible but evident and real..

    Historic flooding has followed in the wake of the “bomb cyclone” that rammed into the central U.S. this week, with USA Today reporting that Nebraska experienced what may be the worst floods in half a century.

    Flooding has continued in swathes of Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska, according to CNN.

    A bomb cyclone occurs when—as happened last week when a storm that began to form in the Southwest swept across the Central U.S.—pressure drops dramatically in a short period of time, a phenomenon known as “explosive bombogenesis.” It’s rare for one to happen in the inland U.S., and this week’s storm resulted in severe weather across a massive stretch of the country.

    The coldest weather in years will put millions of people and animals throughout the midwestern United States at risk for hypothermia and frostbite to occur in minutes during the final days of January.
    The deep freeze has commenced across the Upper Midwest with an AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperature of 75 degrees below zero Fahrenheit reported at Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Tuesday morning.
    The worst is yet to come for other parts of the Midwest as the polar vortex gets displaced from the Arctic Circle and dives into the region.
    In addition to the risks of frostbite and hypothermia, residents will be faced with high heating costs and the potential for frozen and bursting water pipes, dead car batteries and school closures.

    For weeks now weather forecasters have closely watched the tracks of Hurricane Florence as she made her way across the mighty Atlantic. Her arriaval to the United States isn’t necessarily being greeted with any happiness… she is already overstaying her welcome..

    Hurricane Florence ground its way along the southern coast of North Carolina on Thursday night, delivering torrential rains, high winds, and an already-dangerous storm surge. As of 11 pm EDT, Florence was about 60 miles east-southeast of Wilmington, drifting northwest at 6 mph with top sustained winds of 90 mph. Although Florence had become a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale, it remained a Category 5 heavy rain and inland flooding threat, and a Category 3 storm surge threat.

    The eye of the storm appears to be making its way onto the shoreline of North Carolina as this post is typed on Friday September 14 at 6:45 am.. Weather Channel madman Jim Cantore is busy on live TV dodging wild wind swept items as the storm surges and the waters overflow the land..

    Yes.: it can snow in spring.. but the misery being caused by a storm sweeping through the Midwest into the northeast seems so particularly bad that it’s being called historic in nature .. 

    “At least three people have been killed, including a sleeping two-year-old girl, as a violent spring storm has battered the Midwest with powerful winds and heavy snow.

    The storm front swept across the Midwest this weekend, leaving large swathes of the region blanketed in snow. The city of St. Paul in Minnesota was forced to declare a snow emergency, while nearby Minneapolis is predicted to receive more than 50 centimeters of snow by the time the storm passes through the region.

    Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, which serves the two cities, was forced to cancel nearly 500 flights. Airport officials said the snow was falling too fast for plows to keep runways clear. Hundreds of crashes were reported across the state. Some 300 thousand houses were without electricity.”
