A new series I am working on for the season: Scary stories to scope in the dark..
Month: September 2015
DARK LIGHT. SMALL CITY.
This is the best of times.. the worst of times. Allow me to briefly explain. I love autumn. I have always.. but this year, for some strange reason, I am dreading it. The weather has already cooled off a bit and it’s been rainy.. My throat has that touch of soreness this morning. I also heard my son coughing a bit.. The changing seasons, along with allergic reasons, is making me dread it all a bit…
The class of 18 learns about 9/11
I cannot fathom it being 14 years already since 9/11.. I have my personal memories, some I have shared in public settings, others I have kept very secret.. I have those images forever in my mind.. This morning while hearing news accounts of today’s ceremonies planned in the locations hit by terrorism on September 11, 2001, I realized this: The kids born that year, those who first were welcomed…
The school that wasn’t
While I had no original plans to write anything about this very personal issue, a few events took place that changed my mind. I went to a little high school in the coal region of Pennsylvania named Cardinal Brennan Jr/Sr High School. It was a strange place. Catholic education echoed through the hallways, along with the shenanigans and teenage laughter of generations forced to wear school…
THE NIGHTMARE THAT WASN’T
When I was a young pre-teen in the 1980s, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET part 3, the DREAM WARRIORS, sort of changed my conception of horror.. it became campy, silly and fun.. Yes, Freddy was a menacing creature, whose background was that of a child molester and killer, but somehow Robert Englund turned Wes Craven’s character into a charming and almost likeable trickster in the in the third NIGHTMARE…

Blue Beam me up: A figure in the sky dances for multiple cameras to catch it
This video from YouTube user Fausto Perez is making news.. though it was recorded mid-August in Los Angeles, a story in the UK MIRROR and link on the Drudge Report have solidified it in the 15-minutes of fame news cycle that so many of these types of videos garner before vanishing into the memory hole of UFO lure.. But this video is…
A wing and a prayer
While Hillary Clinton still likely seems to be the Democratic nominee to potentially face Donald Trump in 2016 (if that happens), her load of trouble isn’t stopping.. She tried claiming her email server controversy was the fault of others–after she finally admitted there may be a few issues. Then she tried joking about deleted emails, asking a probing reporter what should possibly could have…
The sky isn’t falling but Antelopes are
The sky isn’t falling but Antelopes are
News from Kazakhstan: 60,000 or so antelopes have died, dropped dead, in just a few days. According to scientific reports, there is no conclusion or answers as to why the die-off is occurring. And it’s not the first–80,000 or so took place in May of this year. A LIVESCIENCE.COM report written by senior writer Tia Ghose explains that by the time experts arrived on scene to see the dead animals…
There May be a Massive Disturber Beyond Pluto – The Monitor Daily
This is Beijing, one picture BEFORE a parade and after.. People were so excited to finally see a blue sky in the city, they whipped out cameras to capture the moment.. (http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/04/asia/china-beijing-blue-sky-disappears-after-military-parade/)
The CNN article linked doesn’t mention much about this, but I wonder if it was also utilized by China: Manipulating weather.
But have they gotten as good as making there be some blue skies in an otherwise hopeless and polluted city?
