For a primer on what this looks like on the ground, politicians should see the powerful new film, “99 Homes”, directed by Ramin Bahrani. The film, which stars Andrew Garfield, Michael Shannon, Laura Dern and Noah Lomax, follows the traumatic experience of a family when the bank forecloses on their modest house. Dennis Nash (played by Garfield) is a construction worker and single father who is having trouble finding a job and unable to make mortgage payments.
No sooner does the bank foreclose than a ruthless real estate broker named Rick appears at the door to inform Dennis’ family that they need to get out. Dennis, his widowed mother (Dern) and son leave their home, and all their possessions are thrown on the curb like trash. It happens that quickly. In this film, the monster in this horror is the economy itself. “I didn’t kick you out, the bank did,” Rick explains.
The movie winds through the maelstrom that results from the foreclosure. The father ends up going to work for Rick, making a deal with the devil. “America does not bail out the losers,” Rick explains. The story gets darker as Dennis, desperate for money, finds himself in league with the businessman who ruthlessly uprooted his family.
No blood, no gore. No monsters on Maple Street. Instead the villain that haunts us to our core: The economy. The chance that our lives, if calm today, won’t be tomorrow.. that jobs will dry up and robots will take whatever services are left to perform.
This is the modern day horror that few want to talk about it.. Julian Zelizer makes an amazing point by using the movie description in the light of a horror flick.
In the end, it really is, in a way.
There was a certain genius in the film IT FOLLOWS that somewhat correlates to 99 HOMES. The most amazing pieces of cinematography in that film were images of Detroit, broken and barren, coupled with the haunting music that played loudly in the background. What was following? Sure, a monster who is exchanged with sex. But what could have been following the youths easily was a troubled economic future where they would be jobless and soulless.
Now.. to make it into a “REAL” horror, 99 HOMES would need Eli Roth. Picture a bank foreclosure and when the show up to put a sign on the door, they are zombies. Unless they really already are…?
A popular conspiracy website (http://yournewswire.com/george-bush-senior-on-ufos-americans-cant-handle-the-truth/) rolled out an article days ago reporting a quote from George Bush Sr. The site reported,
An activist/journalist asked when the US government would tell the truth about UFOs, but the answer George Bush Snr gave took the crowd and reporters completely by surprise
He replied: “Americans can’t handle the truth” before the questioning was briefly halted by the event organizers.
While Your News Wire seemingly is getting most of the attention regarding the story, the real article that began it all is here on World news Daily Report. You know, the website that reports strange pieces of un-funny satire that when you see your friends link on Facebook you squirm because they think it’s real.
The other day, this site was linked on one person’s Facebook page. The story was about a vaccine making a girl pregnant. My friend was angry, stating that “why isn’t anyone realizing this girl is lying about having sex?”
Sigh..Out loud.
The Bush story would be interesting. It may also be real in the sense that he could harbor such feelings about aliens, and UFOs. After all, the long held belief is that Bush Sr., a CIA man himself, knows the secrets..and where the aliens are buried, crafts are crashed, and bodies are counted. Of course, the very idea that a former president and living statesman would loudly state that Americans can’t handle the truth about aliens, should be front page news!
It’s not.. Because it didn’t happen.

Bell quit Coast to Coast AM and Premiere. This website, the HORROR REPORT, has documented the long process from George Noory telling Bell fans that “he’s done folks” to Bell’s return to Sirius and then quit exit. And now speedy return (2 years delayed because of the Sirius non compete) to the netwaves and airwaves.
And now, what exists after all of this time, is a nightly-must-listen.
Bell keeps listeners’ attention with his style of broadcasting. Listening to him gives you the feeling that nothing much has changed since the 1990s—Bell is as good as ever.

I have written before and will say it again: The Sirius stint seemed to feature a touchy Art Bell. Who can forget his long friendship with Nostradamus expert John Hogue going sour over the air during one of his Dark Matter programs?
This time, Bell is having fun. He’s being natural, he’s calm and collective, and he’s letting it all just happen.
Sure, there was the recent exit of his newsman in dramatic fashion—Facebook becomes a source of gossip not only for high schoolers but also radio employees, as we saw with Leo Ashcraft.
Midnight in the Desert is just fun.
Upcoming will be a Halloween show.
The last two times Bell left the air was after a Halloween show, in 2010 and 2013.
If we make it through October, Midnight will survive.
So three cheers for an amazing show!
