But Lucas won’t read that, or your comment below, because he also admitted in the interview that he has “assiduously avoided the Internet since 2000 — no Facebook, no Twitter, no e-mail even.” The first of the oft-derided Star Wars prequel movies, The Phantom Menace, was released in 1999, so that was probably indeed a good time to bail out.

It’s true.

Just imagine..

No cats.. no Janet Jackson nipplegate memes.. no Facebook.. no early Twitter.. no blogs..

What a sad 15 years!

Why in hell are exorcisms still so popular? Joseph Laycock from Texas State University explains

Why in hell are exorcisms still so popular? Joseph Laycock from Texas State University explains :

And a part of the explanation written:

So why has exorcism made a comeback? It may be that belief in the demonic is cyclical.
Historian of religion David Frankfurter notes that conspiracy theories involving evil entities like demons and witches tend to flare up when local religious communities are confronted with outside forces such as globalization and modernity.
Attributing misfortune and social change to hidden evil forces, Frankfurter suggests, is a natural human reaction; the demonic provides a context that can make sense of unfamiliar or complex problems.”
The golden age!
When exorcisms take place outside Starbucks and the Pope lays hands on people to rid them of demons.. The golden age indeed.

The paranormal’s golden age is potentially here as well. When mainstream news focuses like a laser beam on devilish subject matter and strange lights in the sky.
It’s a good time to be alive. And if …

11/22/63 trailer

This was released a week ago, but with news and events, we didn't get the chance to relay the message.

This is the 11/22/63 trailer, a movie coming to Hulu based off of the Stephen King book. The subject matter at hand: Going back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy..

As seen, James Franco is starring in the trailer, playing a teacher with the mission. The series also stars Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, and Daniel Webber as Lee Harvey Oswald.

It premieres February 15, 2016: Presidents' Day.

There is something larger in play here as well. The 8 part mini series is not on ABC. Not NBC. Not CBS.. and certainly not FOX.. It's on HULU, the land of the internet. Gone are the days when cable platforms matter. AMC, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are the newly uncrowned kings.

HUNGER GAMES MOCKINGJAY continued to dominate the Thanksgiving box office this weekend followed by family friend THE GOOD DINOSAURS.. the MARTIAN stayed strong..

$62 mil for MOCKINGJAY and Pixar's DINOSAUR had a 79% makeup of families during the weekend to $28 mil in America and $82 mil globally..

The big story of the weekend is not the individual amounts of each movie, but the overall theme: The box office was 12% up compared to the 2014 Thanksgiving weekend..

Store shopping was down. Perhaps black Friday bargains don't need attention when Cyber Monday is around the corner. The same people shopping years previous are picking time with family in theaters.. Which is an amazingly great concept to me.

There have been some years previous when Thanksgiving and Christmas days ended at the movies. That may be an up and coming tradition so as long as major production companies continue to give quality reasons to make it happen.

You have seen the PURGE.. This time, America is in for its annual BINGE.. Eating gone wrong.

The idea is humorous.. the parody trailer for the BINGE is even better from the FIT TEA..

Take a look-see and wonder if you, too, experienced the annual binge..

Malls once meant something to people. Now they have become empty shells of history

Though I mocked the entire process of Black Friday, I did venture out for a bit yesterday just to peruse a few local shopping centers. These locations are in trouble. They have been for some time. Not even Black Friday could save them. They were desolate and empty, Christmas music was blaring loudly and echoing through almost empty corridors. And even though other malls may have been busier places, the nationwide verdict is in: People didn't go out in big numbers for Black Friday, or Thanksgiving night just as well. It was a bust..

I went to lunch with a friend and actually purchase most of my gifts waiting for my sandwich by shopping online. I didn't hit complete order yet, but the cart is awaiting my approval. In a few days I'll get my gifts in the mail. The gifts I want, the name brands I want. I think the days of malls are over.. perhaps even the days of Walmart would theoretically be coming as well.

What are we losing in that process though?

A last minute selfie gift for Christmas

The selfie stick.. both dreaded and admired at the same time.. slowly picking up steam.. others laugh. But then they secretly desire it.

But this year you can spice things up a bit more with the new and improved selfie stick.. one that looks like you've gotten an arm extension..

The invention was created by author Mansoon and featured on the website Omocoro..

This is the year the selfie stick took over. But 2016 may be the year where you will learn to conceal it with a giant four foot arm extension. I love pop culture.

Sonic boom noises being heard across parts of Schuylkill County Pennsylvania

This one is hitting very close to Horror Report home base.. There are hundreds of comments on Facebook at the hour of people claiming to hear sonic booms repeatedly sounding near their homes in the central part of Schuylkill County PA.. Some even say that the booms are shaking their homes..

The towns of Cressona, Schuylkill Haven, and Pottsville seem to be the location for the majority of reports..

Commenters on Facebook write that they have alerted loca police and that law enforcement is aware of the increasingly high number of boom reports this evening..

This is not a new phenomenon. As a matter of fact, the last several years have been populated wth reports of sonic booms and earth groans across the planet, just like those being heard tonight by witnesses..

The Horror Report will follow the story and update accordingly..

Red Friday: Door busted

Despite the fights.. Regardless of the door busters.. In spite of the supposed sales.:. None of it working out.

Stores are empty!

Thanksgiving shopping was a dud!

Black Friday a bust!

The culture changing? Get ready UPS, the online shopping era came years ago but is now solidly becoming the norm. Brick and mortar are going like Main Street in the 20th century..

“We believe Thanksgiving shopping was a bust,” said analysts at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in a note. They conducted channel checks in the New York metro area, New England and the Southeast region starting on Thanksgiving Day and throughout the night into Black Friday.

The movie is finally coming.. the legend of KRAMPUS on big screens just in time for Christmas 2015..

The legend is mighty indeed.

The KRAMPUS trailer:

While this film may bring a new subject matter to a number of horror genre fans, others of us have known of the stories for quite some time. Perhaps even since our own childhood.

In Catholic grade school, we had a custom I never questioned as a child.. we would put our shoes outside of the classroom in the hallway. We had to stay in our rooms. When we heard a bell ring, we checked afterwards to see what was in our shoes.. It was candy, which signified a visit from Santa was in the offing. We were always warned that coal would be much worse. We were not told by the Ukraniun nuns that it would have meant Krampus would visit. Also, we were not told but eventually figured out that the 'bell' ringer was actually the janitor of the school.

The Krampus legend is frightening.. People today st…

It's the most wonderful time of the year: Shoppers putting a 'punch' into Black Friday

Black Friday is filled with countless amazing stories of great deals and beautiful people shopping. But let's face it, that is not the type of stuff we enjoy.
We like the fights..
The brutal seasons beatings..
We have no time for quaint tales of monetary bounties. We want the blood and guts..

This year, like others, we simply have to search the news accounts of Black Friday and we will be hit with a lot of fodder for our enjoyment. Forgive me for giving press to such notoriety.. but deep down, we just love watching endless consumerism equal inhumanity and desperate people doing desperate things.

For ....plastic.. For .. slave-made products.. For .. junk in the trunk.

A few notes from 'Merica so far..

Here is a video showing people running around for an in-demand STEAMER (a veggie steamer people) ... a woman is seen ripping it out of the arms of a child..

That was worth it, right?

I bet the extra violence in the purchase will surrreee feel nice when you wrap up that gift--one that will …

Turkey and trimmings with a side of wartime

Thanksgiving 2015 in the United States seems to be getting defined by all the trouble in the world. Chaos overseas.. Terror in Paris. And Turkey shooting down a Russian jet.

Is this life during wartime, or just life as we will now know it..?

The NEW YORK TIMES headlines lead us into the Thanksgiving holiday. The Macý's Thanksgiving Day Parade is featuring giant floats of Power Rangers and Peanuts.. but it will not be difficult to see the other presence: A militrized police force with heavily loaded weapons staring back at people.. they may be mistaken for Darth Vader. But they are not, they are the police protecting the city from any and all threats. Named or unnamed..

So far unnamed, though assumed.

The TIMES reports.

As an expected three million spectators turn their eyes skyward on Thursday morning, police sharpshooters on rooftops will be peering down for any signs of trouble at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
In addition to Snoopy and SpongeBob floating overhead, there will be …

Unless you live under a rock or on the planet Mars, you've heard about this rumor flying around the net: There is a dome on the red planet. Perhaps not just any dome.. but .. a dome showing off a religious institution of yesteryear among Martians. Perhaps even of today! Perhaps it's still in use!? Maybe built with taxpayer dollars on the red planet...?

There are a few points to remember when looking at any image like this, in this case from the Sol 4073 camera: We can see LOTS of things in the Martian soil and background that resemble things we know. Our brains that does. We liken certain shapes to other things we are familiar with.

That being said..

This sure as hell looks like a dome.

The picture in total here:

The location to focus on: The top right. On that mountain. You know, right where the dome is?

OF course if the Jet Propulsion Laboratory linked this on their own site, you'd certainly think less of a conspiracy they are trying to hide of life on the planet and more simp…

Drama in the desert: Art Bell explains 'serious incident'

Last night Art Bell canceled his program MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT at the last minute due to a 'serious incident' that occurred. The description of events that were told tonight on Thanksgiving eve were chilling.

Bell said 'somebody or somebodies don't want me on the air,' as he went on to explain several instances starting with the October live radio shooting that occurred while Bell was broadcasting. A police report on that matter was filed, and many neighbors heard shots. One described a dark car and witnessed the person shooting the rifle near Bell's studio on his property.

On November 18, Bell said that another incident occurred at 7:50 PM PDT, where  a call was placed to his house and a man's voice said if he went on the air that night both he and his family 'would be killed.'  The number was blocked and service providers were not able to provide further information. Tonight was the first time that Bell publicly relayed this information to his list…

Reality headline of the day: "Preventing World War III"

Turkey shot down a Russian jet this week .. and with it, shattered the safety and security of the world.

While the planet may always seem to be a hair trigger away from total chaos and anarchy, this event seemed likely to push us further to the brink of war.. or something.
Thanksgiving in America, people rushing home to be with friends and foes alike. Meanwhile the rest of the planet isn't taking that break, instead they are rushing to battle.. arming their weapons.. finding their stations. Launching their tactics.. and positioning themselves in the game of either chess or checkers depending on your point of view of modern headlines.

This is the planet at large. One filled with doom and gloom..
Terror and tales of fear.
The horror isn't just on movie screens or televisions.. it's real. It's now beginning to be palpable.

The REUTERS news service issued an opinion dispatch that may dampen the turkey gravy your dinner table.

The headline is blunt:

The #CondomChallenge making its way around the NET

Pop Culture 2015..

Your thanksgiving table may be filled with corn and crazy amounts of food.. afterwards you may want to join in the new challenge sweeping the nation, and thanks to the internet, the world: The Condom Challenge.

It's simple.. fill a condom with water and drop it on your friend's head.

Hilarity ensues..
And according to some attempting to find promise in the teens of today: A lesson. Durable condoms work best.

MASHABLE is among those giving homage to the latest trend online.

Perhaps it's best to say, while some may be attempting a lesson in safe sexual relations, others are simply doing this: Filling condoms with water and dropping on the heads of their friends...

No word on whether flavored varieties are being used..

The JFK assassination video you've never seen

I missed this story a few days ago, but it’s important. The United States government is being sued by a woman for the return of ‘lost’ footage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy..

Reporting from the UK GAURDIAN:
A woman whose grandfather shot a home video of the assassination of presidentJohn F Kennedy that has since been misplaced is suing the US government, demanding the film be returned or that she be paid $10m in compensation.

Gayle Nix Jackson filed the lawsuit in federal court on Saturday, one day before the 52nd anniversary of Kennedy’s death. The film was shot by her grandfather Orville Nix and shows the assassination in Dealey plaza in Dallas on 22 November 1963.

Jackson’s lawsuit claims the film is as important as the assassination footage captured by Abraham Zapruder with his movie camera. The federal government settled with Zapruder’s heirs in 1999 to purchase the film for $16m.

The claim states: “According to the Warren Commission, the Nix film is nearly as impo…

More questions than answers about the psyche of the country this day. But turkey will be a plenty as animal proteins get consumed across the United States.. After the gluttony expands the waste and blows off the buttons of pants, the shopping until the dropping will begin.  Unless people have finally found the beauty of online clicking. Cyber Monday? Or “BLK Friday” as Turkey Hill has officially called it?
It’s time to get your gobble on.

'Serious incident' at Art Bell's house

This was posted to Art Bell’s Facebook page tonight.. Those following know he had a recent shooting incident take place on his property during a live show.. It would be conjecture to say any such similar event has occurred but it would appear something serious may have occurred..

Last night during his program he mentioned that he thought there was an intruder on his property before the show.. No further mention was made after his initial comment prior to interviewing Michio Kaku..

THE GOOD NEWS: MOCKINGJAY PART 2 takes the box office // numbers coming in // $104 million opening set as it becomes the 5th highest opening of the entire year..

The BAD NEWS: It is the LOWEST of all in the HUNGER GAMES series.. Even more, the word of mouth may not have been good. The best day for the movie: Friday. After that, a significant 25% drop occurred in ticket sales..

SPECTRE taking second place..

The PEANUTS MOVIE still dancing, but dropping to third place.. the NIGHT BEFORE weak in fourth place.

THE MARTIAN still in the top ten.

And everything changes in less than a month when the next STAR WARS movie comes out. That is when the box office may truly get rocked with hardcore numbers not seen in years..

The top scary movies for the colder season

DREAD CENTRAL gives us a list of the top movies for the winter season–horror with cold and chill as the background theme of the flick. The list here..

I disagree–you heard that right–with virtually the entire list.

The biggest problem is the lack of inclusion of my all time favorite snow/cold related movie: STORM OF THE CENTURY, by Stephen King. It’s the amazing near day-long experience, one that’s perfect for a night stuck in because of snow or a day held up because of closings.. Andre Linoge walking the streets of a town during a blizzard, looking for what he wants to go away. That’s scary. The list from DREAD CENTRAL, to me at least, not scary.

I am sure you have your favorite too..
Mine will always be the STORM..

2015′s great way to celebrate Thanksgiving: 12 hours of Art Bell

KABC in Los Angeles, the big Cumulus station that recently picked up the MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT Art Bell stream, is offering up 12 hours of programming Thanksgiving that features the best of Art Bell’s radio program.

Perhaps even better news, the programming isn’t being picked at random or a computer, it’s from Bell himself.

From the press release:
BELL said, “We are thrilled to be back on the great 790 KABC, where we had great success.  My loyal fans will love that I’m personally hand picking the best 12 hours of out-of-this-world radio.”

Operations Dir. DREW HAYES added, “This ART BELL special goes great with turkey and stuffing, and is the perfect program for families at home or traveling, to enjoy and be spellbound together.”

Dolls of death.. dolls of doom.

Dolls of death.. dolls of doom.

Iraqi forces prevented a major Islamic State (previously ISIS/ISIL) attack as they found and disabled 18 booby-trapped dolls with explosives inside just north of the capital Baghdad. The plot targeted Shia Muslims going on an upcoming religious pilgrimage.

This from RT:
The diabolical plan was to scatter all the dolls alongside the road between Baghdad and Karbala during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which is a Shia Muslim annual religious observance.

Millions of Shia Muslims walk the path every year. In 2014, there was a new record number of pilgrims, totaling 17.5 million people.
I attempt to recoil from news like this. On one hand, if it’s true, it’s depravity at its finest. And on the other side of the coin, it could always be state propaganda from someone who is trying to compel people with morality into a position of war theater.

Regardless, as a whole, there is something chilling about the perversion of children in this world–the suffering of children.. the …

The big wobble? The big shift? The load of bunk?

I often read about the ‘Inuit reports that the earth has wobbled,’ or shifted.. rumors online say that we just aren’t where we used to be. That the sun sets somewhere else..that the moon isn’t looking right in the sky anymore.

Scientists, when they actually talk about it, dismiss it all.. They use reason and logic to say most of these rumors are false..

The website ALL NEWS PIPELINE has been a mainstay in the conspiracy world online for years.. I read it with interest. I take it all with massive grains of salt but often sprinkle on some pepper to ignite my imagination.

November 20, there was a report on the site again talking about this Inuit rumor that the planet has shifted.. After offering up information on weather and showcasing PDFs of letters to Congress, the site asks:

What are they hiding? There are a variety of theories, including HAARP and the geoengineering and weather manipulation causing the atmospheric chaos being seen today. Some believe we are feeling the effects of the mu…

The USGS recorded 17 Oklahoma earthquakes since the 4.7, including a 4.0 magnitude near Crescent, and the 4.1 magnitude near Medford.

The quakes recorded as low as 2.6 magnitude (two Thursday near Cherokee and Medford), but also include six recorded earlier today:

There have been a number of business decisions, investments, and acquisitions being questioned as of late.. in a very public way.. Questions that showcase risky movies that the board may deem as too much..

The main question: The purchase plan of Alibaba..

As it currently stands, no indications from Yahoo have suggested the company is re-thinking its Alibaba spin-off plan.

One Yahoo investor told us that the board and Yahoo’s management team appears not to be thinking about this as owners of the company — and therefore stewards of shareholder capital — but as a management team that simply wants to keep itself in place.

In other words, this investor sees Yahoo’s board in something resembling self-preservation mode rathe…

Reports from inside the Mali hotel where terrorist struck

Gunmen who raided a Malian hotel hollered “Allahu akbar” as they sprayed bullets on tables of people who were gathered for breakfast, a witness said.

The attackers did not say a word to anyone as they opened fire Friday morning, employee Tamba Couye said.

They shot at “anything that moved” as terrified patrons dashed for cover all over the hotel, he said.
By the time United Nations forces got to the site, bodies were scattered across the floors..

This Stormy Star Means Alien Life May Be Rarer Than We Thought

This Stormy Star Means Alien Life May Be Rarer Than We Thought:

And this: There’s a red dwarf about 35 light-years from here that’s spewing powerful, life crushing solar flares into space. These types of stellar objects are fairly common, leading to speculation that our galaxy is less habitable than we thought.

I don’t know if I buy into the argument that the universe is teaming with life.. And likewise don’t buy that there’s none.

But what if–what if!–we really are the only planet in the entire universe that has life! What if it’s us.. Just us. And accidental mishap causing a creation of life and eventually creatures who love and hate.
Perhaps the idea we are alone is a million times more frightening than the prospects we are not..

There seems to be a developing situation unfolding in Mali

The U.S. Embassy in Mali has asked American citizens and its staffers to remain indoors after reports surfaced of a shooting at the Radisson Hotel in the capital Bamako
The 190-room hotel was just finishing off the hosting of a major mining conference, Aislinn Laing writes. Those due to speak included the Malian prime minister, government ministers, African Development Bank representatives as well as the directors of some major mining houses operating in Africa. As a result of the conference, the hotel is believed to have been at 90 per cent occupancy. »
And now it is the site of the newest terror attack on the planet earth..

This was reported only minutes ago in a UK TELEGRAPH article:
Hostages freed from siege hotel if they can recite Qur'an verses

Security sources are reporting that some gunmen at the Mali hotel are freeing hostages who are able to recite verses of the Qur'an.

Remember those Freddy 1-900 numbers?

The website BLOODY DISGUSTING today reminded me of something I completely forgot about from my youth.. the Freddy Kreuger 1-900 number..

Like Brad Miska, I never called when I was a kid. I remember my cousins and I watching these commercials late at night and thinking about doing it.. but that was the 20th century. The time of TOLL calls and no internet.. such a strange and different time compared to now.

Nonetheless, check out the article from B-D that also includes plenty of Youtube nostalgia of people actually calling the number.

So .. did anyone ever win that ‘contest’ to appear in a movie??

A THE VIEW segment turns into a debate about creationism

AS though the news of the world wasn't freaky enough, Pope Francis is adding fodder to the already mighty load of end times porn that has overloaded our society from all religious perspectives.. From a report November 15 (I missed it until now), this information:
Francis unequivocally recognized the Islamist ideology behind the attacks, denouncing the use of God’s name to justify the brutal attacks as “blasphemy.”

Commenting on Sunday’s Scripture readings, the Pope said that Jesus’ preaching about the end of the world contains “apocalyptic elements, like war, famine, and cosmic catastrophes.”

“In those days,” Francis repeated, “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”
This year has seen a plethora of information concerning the Pope and threats to the Vatican from ISIS terrorists.. Since the French horror last week, the United States State Department has issued a warning to…

"Who’ll love the devil?… Who’ll song his song?… Who will love the devil..."

“Who’ll love the devil?…
Who’ll song his song?…
Who will love the devil and his song?…
I’ll love the devil!…
I’ll sing his song!…
I will love the devil and his song!… Who’ll love the devil?… Who’ll kiss his tongue?… Who will kiss the devil on his tongue?… I’ll love the devil!… I’ll kiss his tongue!…
I will kiss the devil on his tongue!…
Who’ll love the devil?…
Who’ll sing his song?…

These were the words being sung as the Paris terror attack began in the packed concert hall in France.. The band was from the United States called Eagles of Metal Death. The song is ‘Kiss the devil.’

I offer it as fodder for thought, not really food.. but fodder. Fodder perhaps for debate. There have been more than a few people who have pointed to these lyrics in hopes of finding some metaphysical connection between the earthly terror and the otherworldly forces some believe are fighting in the other realm.

Love grows when terror throws?

CNN reports
Presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin had a markedly warmer exchange at the G20 in Turkey this week than in other recent encounters, and both sides indicated a willingness to do more to work together.

At a meeting Monday, the two men flashed toothy smiles at each other and erupted in quick bursts of laughter – a far cry from virtually every photographed interaction between the leaders in the past several years, including an awkward handshake shared just six weeks ago at the United Nations General Assembly.

The TNT network isn’t airing an episode of its drama...

The TNT network isn’t airing an episode of its drama “Legends” on Monday because it depicts a terrorist shooting into a crowd in Paris.

The network instead re-aired a rerun of “Legends” that was originally shown a few weeks ago…

This seems to be an unending pattern.

Remember this year when that horrid live shooting occurred where a newscaster died? A show was called off then, too..

With all major disasters and terror attacks in recent memory, there is either a show about it before it occurs or pulled after it happens.

Life imitating art?
Art being ahead of the curve?
Or a sign we’re in a controlled matrix with nothing but predictable endings all around. Maybe that’s extreme.

72 hours before Paris attacks, ISIS-linked social media account reveals 'God bless you in your mission'

72 hours before Paris attacks, ISIS-linked social media account reveals 'God bless you in your mission' :

From the FOX NEWS report:

“Separately, Fox News has learned that four credible, ISIS-linked social media accounts began sharing messages 72 hours before the Paris attack, including images of weapons, the Eiffel tower, as well as blessings for the attackers’ mission.  A military intelligence source says the social media traffic is now seen as evidence the three teams had gone operational.”

NBC News has learned that ISIS is using a web-savvy new tactic to expand its global operational footprint -- a 24-hour Jihadi Help Desk to help its foot soldiers spread its message worldwide, recruit followers and launch more attacks on foreign soil.

I went to an auction this past weekend.. a bit of an emotional roller coaster sort of began and ended at the right time in my life.. at the moment when I understand things better than before.. at a point where I can forgive, forget, and focus nostalgic memories when needed for perspective.

I went to the great auction of Cardinal Brennan Jr/Sr/ High School in Fountain Springs, PA.. my alma mater.. the place I called home for four short years ending with a graduation as the century turned in 1999.. You may know I already went to this school, I wrote a more in depth posting about my thoughts a few weeks ago..

To give a quick history.. the school was once for all women. It changed to a Catholic high school later.. it housed my antics… and the diocese of Allentown PA chose to close the school in 2007..

Years later–this year–North Schuylkill, the district the vacant building resides in, bought it .. some considered it sold for pennies on the dollar. Others felt it was an investment gone wrong.

The horror in Paris

The world is going to hell tonight. Friday the 13th.. attacks in Paris--lots of them. It's horrific..

I don’t want to be on the perch of preaching. But I did want to share something you should see.. there are horrors in the world of food as much as news and entertainment. Pluto wackiness

Science textbook writers: You may as well stop now. You will never get ahead of the great Dwarf named Pluto.

New scientific revelations claim these startling and amazing potential facts: There are volcanoes on Pluto, there are strange moons that don’t act as they should as they move in unpredictable patterns, and the mountains on the faraway dwarf—even the largest—is floating on a sea of nitrogen. Now how cool is that?

The details can be found in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. It’s an article worth the read. (

Scientists aren’t yet willing and ready to make conclusions. If they do there’s big implications. Implications already seen: Everything you have learned about Pluto was and may still be wrong…

The 'routine' Trident test: Military prowess or social media?

There have been varied opinions from a lot of sources.. People confused by the recent missile tests—one Saturday night that lit up the sky over the West Coast and another one yesterday during daytime hours, obviously without the fanfare a night test would bring.

The Navy was forced into admitting that they set off a Trident missile for what they labeled a “routine” test. The routine nature of the situation is questionable. Routine? When an entire area around Los Angeles is put into a de facto no fly zone? Routine, when you launch a missile during the evening hours for eyewitnesses to see and become freaked out collectively? Routine? When you launch a missile that typically has a nuclear payload?

An article by Peter Holley in the Washington POST describes what I also wonder ( :

Did the Navy think the test would go largely unnoticed by the public? …

As if this weekend's excitement wasn't enough.. it happened again.

The United States Navy said it launched another missile from a submarine off of the California coast line..

They also said it was the FINAL missile launch planned--meaning if another blueish beam of light is seen over the skies at nightfall it's a whole other problem..

More from the LA TIMES:
The second test launch of the Trident II (D5) missile from a ballistic submarine in the Pacific Ocean took place Monday afternoon, the Navy said. The blast-off took place to far less fanfare than Saturday night’s launch, which provoked residents from San Francisco to Mexico to take to social media, posting photos of an eerie-looking bluish-green plume smeared above the Pacific.

The weather outside is getting colder.. don't you think?

There is no doubt after seeing THESE PHOTOS that you'll see why the fine people of the Left Coast freaked out accordingly..

Gunnar Hansen dead

You knew him has Leatherface--the psychopathic killer in the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. His real name was Gunnar Hansen.. and today, according to his publicist, he is dead at the age of 68..

Hansen, who was born in Reykjavik, Iceland and moved to the U.S. at age 5, got his first role as the iconic, chainsaw-wielding Leatherface in 1973.

People who met him were reportedly in shock because he was so unlike the psychotic character from the classic horror film.

His role was memorable and achieved a deep fan base in horror circles..

This has been a tremendously bad year for horror icons.. Hansen now joins the crowd of people gone too soon in the world of entertainment in 2015..

Spot the Toynbee Tiles in your neighborhood today!

I love Toynbee tiles!

I have loved them ever since I first started reading about them a decade ago.. And just this week, I was reminded of how cool they were when I read an ONLY IN YOUR STATE story about them in the city of Philadelphia, in my state of Pennsylvania.. You, too, can read that here.

The author writes this:
You may have spotted them before, or stepped over them without even noticing. About the size of a license plate, they can easily blend in with the storm drains and manhole covers in the streets. These bizarre tiles have been appearing on streets, not only in Pennsylvania, but throughout 26 major American cities and some cities in South America since the first one was spotted in Philadelphia in 1982.
There are also other cities that have the tiles.. Some iof the include this:

IN MOViE `2001

Others have political messages.

They are also in Boston, Kansas City, and Washington DC. Some reports indicate Baltimore is included with that.. I…

My son asked me abut horror movies and I didn’t know what to say

Ever since childhood, I recall having horror movies somehow in my life. Pop cultural icons of the 1980s included HE-MAN and ALF, and Freddy Krueger as well. Entertainment news was saturated with the blood of slasher flicks. There was no escape. Nightmare on Elm Street had multiple parts. As did Jason Vorhees’ seemingly yearly trips to Camp Crystal Lake. The early 2000s saw a bit of a change. The PG-13 crowd came out. After 9/11 and countless wars, the SAW franchise made it big, complimenting the culture of the time. Torture and fear.. hidden enemies that filmed our every need for status and forgiveness. Horror had changed.

As had I.

I may have written about this before. If so, forgive me and indulge me a bit on this.

My wife and I rented * I actually said ‘rent,’ yes, we’re talking the final years of Blockbuster world here* the movie THE HILLS HAVE EYES. The remake version in 2006. That movie may have had two of the most disturbing scenes I have ever seen horror—at least up until that po…
