PUFFY CLOUDS BEGIN TO FILL THE AIR AT BELLGAB

For weeks, speculation has been rampant on BELLGAB.COM.. The social site where Art Bell fans go to surmise the latest ordeals, the latest rumors, and the most recent George Noory memes, has also been home to a gush of emotion with each Art Bell message to the squadron of loyal listeners.. They are the base. Sometimes organized. Sometimes apathetic.. sometimes stuck in a mental rut.. and as Bell would say, vaguely lovable.

But today, they may have just cracked the code.

Several days ago, Art Bell made a dramatic announcement on both Bellgab and Facebook that, due to problems being able to play bumper music on his scheduled upcoming July podcast, he may just scrap the whole thing. Intense debate was immediate.. a rush of ideas filled the pages of the site with pleas from some for Bell to just come back, even if music would be absent his podcast. Others mentioned free places, and some wanted to donate their own original songs. But Bell wasn’t playing with any new ideas: He clearly wants the music he had always played on Coast to Coast AM, he said to set the atmosphere as the program continued through the night.

Emotions suddenly turned positive as Bell began posting more hopeful words. A deal, he said, was being worked out with a ‘major player.’ After much speculation, Bell last night wrote about the inability for Bellgabbers to guess who that ‘big’ player was.

Until today when a user named ‘Somewhere in Time’ guessed CUMULUS.. Speculation took off from there..

As for me, I did my own part, contacted a source with Cumulus Media that I have used previously.. A brief friendly phone conversation changed to an even more brief and less kind talk when I asked if Art Bell could potentially be a major player coming to the Cumulus brand.. A deal, I was told, would be announced ‘if a deal was even being worked on’ when both parties decided it should be.. If ‘both parties’ were even talking about it.  The classic no confirmation.. no denial.. military style.

Bell himself added to the vast array of speculation with a few coy comments and lively jokes, even humoring users who were openly talking about placing money bets on him signing with Cumulus vs not.. Finally tonight, Bell entertained the idea of announcing early but said he didn’t want to say a word until the documents were signed:

What clues? I can not say a word till the date to announce. It is hard for me not to just blurt it out now because we have been told it’s a go but I want to wait for the signed final deal first but boy it is exciting. I will be depending on the PROVEN ability of this murky and semi civilized group to hit Social Media with a brick for me when we are ready.

    Art

The clues were dropped.. the hints were made.
There is not clear confirmation of CUMULUS being the new brand of Bell, but it is certainly raising eyebrows when the comments are taking into consideration.

But at the same time, Bell is having fun with it all, as well.
    He posted on Facebook tonight:

For those of you who can read between the lines and do not mind adult language and are not easily offended plus have a good sense of humor you may wish to check out http://www.bellgab.com remember, I warned you, it’s not the underbelly of the Internet..but you can see it from there.

    The underbelly.
And as a card carrying member of BELLGAB, I think I can see the underbelly from my house.

  • CHURCH LETS OUT: Keith Rowland speaks

CHURCH LETS OUT: Keith Rowland speaks

Normally this website and many others wait patiently for Art Bell to make comments on Facebook or BELLGAB, but this night
the HORROR REPORT can relay information that Keith Rowland, Bell’s famed webmaster and curator of THE DARK MATTER RADIO NETWORK, is the one doing the speaking.

Rowland published a post tonight regarding the controversial exit of Jimmy Church from the radio network. Church made appearances as a guest host on Coast to Coast AM–you may remember that after the original hosting Bell had Rowland actually take down ARTBELL.COM until the situation was settled between them personally..

Rowland tonight offered up his explanation as to why Church left and how the entire situation went down.. the statement in full:

It seems the right time to set the record straight regarding Jimmy Church leaving Dark Matter Radio Network.

First of all, while Fade to Black was the most popular show on the network, Jimmy was not a “sit-in” for Art Bell. In fact Art Bell never heard of Jimmy, never asked him to sit in, nor ever contacted or talked to Jimmy in his entire tenure on DMRN, except for one conference call discussing Jimmy’s appearance on C2C. Art has never listened to Jimmy Church and has no idea what kind of show he does.

It appears to us, that ever since Jimmy’s one-time “DMRN Promoting” appearance on C2C and was asked to decide between continuing on DMRN or going over to C2C, he was planning to leave DMRN, and never discussed this with me. Jimmy just called up one Sunday night and told me he wanted to move to Spreaker, eventually iHeart and Coast 2 Coast. He felt that was a way for him to further his career. I agreed it would be good for him, but wished he gave me a chance to fill the large void he would leave in the schedule.

We talked about a 2-4 week transition period. Which if the move was kept secret, would work, but since Jimmy wanted to use our station to promote his move, and would be announcing his upcoming change to iHeart / Clear Channel and eventual appearance on Coast to Coast, there was no way I could ethically continue his show on DMRN. I left it up to him to decide. He could wait until he had more prepared for his move and continue on DMRN, while I too prepare for replacement shows. Jimmy decided to announce his move on his website that night. So he decided to leave us in a predicament, we did not boot him off.

If you hear any other statements that you may question the validity of (and there are), regarding this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us, so we can set the record straight.

The JIMMY CHURCH thread on BELLGAB has been busy lately..

The Church appearance as a host on Coast originally divided fans of Art Bell as much as Bell and Rowland seemed be distant during the situation. While it may have been worked out, the ongoing Church ‘bells’ ringing. Art Bell himself made vague references to Church’s COAST hosting, but never elaborated in full on how he and Rowland worked out the divide.

Now with the statement from Rowland, there appears to be a ‘setting the record straight’ attempt before the upcoming months that he and Bell will be preparing for a potential new ride podcasting. Bell said on Bellgab that there will be a confirmation of something coming within days as to whether he will be able play music during his podcast if he returns in July. With fans awaiting that news, Rowland’s words tonight seem to be coming at the opportune time to close the Church door once and for all.

  • IT’S ON: ART BELL LOOKS TO MAKE FOURTH OF JULY 2015 FIREWORKS

IT’S ON: ART BELL LOOKS TO MAKE FOURTH OF JULY 2015 FIREWORKS

There has been some recent doubt as to whether ART BELL would return, but a message posted to Facebook tonight seems to make it official: Art Bell will face George Noory.. However, Bell will debut his program on the DARK MATTER RADIO NETWORK for free..

    Bell wrote,

Hi all here is a update,

Here is the way I see things: Starting in late July Dark Matter makes a return five nights a Week
from 9PM-12AM P.T. on DMRN. The Stream will be at a higher bit rate and FREE to all.

As I mentioned a Producer is needed and it looks like we have found a really good one, Paul will
    also be able to assist.

I will be depending on all of YOU as well as my FB followers to spread the word far and wide on
Social Media. A blitz if you will, BUT not yet, it’s still too early, but I will give you all the word, we don’t
need magazine’s and we sure do not need AM radio to spread the word, Social media has far more
power, I have seen what YOU can do.

We will start building the Studio in March or so and as I have mentioned I will absorb the cost
myself. This will be a labor of love because I do dearly love Talk Radio. There will only be enough content
from anything else to give myself a short break every hour, or put another way, almost no commercials.

There are other very exciting aspects of what this show will have, but again it is simply too early to give
away what is coming. Trust me it is exciting.

    Art Bell

There does not seem to be any bit of doubt in his words..
He showcases excitement and especially emphasized the free streaming aspect …

A developing story–and one that still appears to be evolving..

An official word of this has also been placed on ARTBELL.COM ..

While Bell may want people to wait to blitz social media, his message tonight will not stay hidden for long.. Twitter, BELLGAB, and other sites—including this one–have already been busy broadcasting the development..

  • SHARP JAB: George Noory anti-Science? Art Bell thinks so

Art Bell, considering making a run at online broadcasting later this summer, launched a missile at his potential rival George Noory on Coast to Coast AM tonight on Facebook, further showing the bad blood that exists between the former and current host of the late night radio program.

Bell said this in a Facebook post,

I just got a Facebook message from a listener who was very concerned that George Noory is having Guest’s on urging people not to get their children vaccinated! I am not a listener to Coast but if true it is beyond irresponsible

    Bell continued,

I don’t want to believe it’s true but if so please look at the real science George, this is just plain dangerous.

The recent measles and flu scares have caused a vicious debate to surface in media and pop culture about the safety and importance of vaccines. Noory as host of Coast’s newest incarnation has phased into a more government conspiracy program as opposed to paranormal version made famous by Bell. As a result, Noory has entertained numerous guests who have questioned the safety of vaccines and tied them to autism and other malfunctions of the brain. The most recent guest is the controversial Doctor Sherri Tenpenny. Tenpenny spoke to Noory concerning a burst of controversy about an anti-vaccination speech she had planned for Australia. Just today, it was announced that Tenpenny has canceled her land down under blunder..

But it’s also not the first time the subject matter has been entertained on the program as proven by a search of past shows. While it is not clear which specific guest Bell may have been referring to, his point is clear: He is not in the camp that believes vaccines cause danger bad enough to refuse them. Without a doubt, Bell’s would have also had have to been given many himself, traveling between the Philippines and the United States an untold number of times.

Readers of the HORROR REPORT will know, this is not the first war of words between Art Bell and George Noory–and will not be their last. Despite Noory’s reference to Bell at the end of each one of his shows, Bell has repeatedly said he wants nothing to do with Premiere Radio Networks or Coast to Coast AM..  His brief stint on Sirius radio featured a number of verbal strikes on Coast. While the program did not last, his loyal fan base is still hoping for fourth of July fireworks with a return of Bell to Dark Matter Radio Network site created by Bell’s longtime webmaster Keith Rowland. Recently, Bell dropped some hints that gave fans pause about a return, saying a big “IF” on the BELLGAB website on the ART BELL THREAD..

The comments on Facebook tonight were greeted mostly with agreements, however some naysayers on vaccines also spoke up to defend their position. The overarching theme however was disdain to what Bell fans perceive as Noory doing to Coast to Coast AM, changing and maligning the program’s intent and now, if you agree with Bell’s position, offering listeners very bad if not dangerous science.

Bell continued the dialogue in his Facebook post. At one point he address Noory’s constant use of his name at the end of the nightly show, saying,

I have asked asked for a very long time that George NOT mention my name as I would rather not be connected to what Coast has become, thus far he has refused to stop for a reason I can not grasp.

Another commenter called Noory a slimeball. Bell responded to that,

Let’s not call names, for me it is very simple, George Noory and myself have very different visions of what the show should be to the degree that I do not want my name associated with it. Obviously he will do what he thinks is right.

One comment was written by a woman believing that Bell was ‘set up’ in his Sirius program. Bell responded to that, as well:

Cindy, in fact I agree, however business is War and I lost that battle in part due to my own stupidity, a mistake I will not make twice.

One interesting aspect of tonight’s thread is how much more involved Art Bell seemed to be in the conversation compared to posts past. Typically, Bell drops a line and it’s liked and commented on by hundreds, but he is not heard from again. This go, however, seems to have peaked his interest. On one hand, Bell’s love of science is evident. On the other, his dislike of any association with Coast is apparent.

As expected, there is reaction on BELLGAB that will most likely continue as the posting beat goes on. It’s doubtful that Noory and company will issue or speak of any official response to Bell, but it will certainly be fascinating to see what type of attention vaccines get on future Coasts.

  • Format Change: Michael Savage becomes a ‘life coach’ in 2015

Michael Savage takes on new broadcast role: Life coach and ‘wise father’ »

Michael Savage is changing things .. The fiery talk show host who many hate is changing his style.. the conservative host said he will continue to talk about news when needed, but his 2015 format will be featuring a “wise father” attempt at giving advice and life coaching..

Even more, Savage said that he will also have “unprotected talk”—unscreen open lined, a-la-Art Bell..

Even more, Savage has coined the term ‘unprotected talk’ and copyrighted it for its protection..

It’s hard to think of Dr. Savage as Oprah.. Especially when you consider the call that got Savage fired from MSNBC..

But hey. It’s all about marketing.

  • Art Bell streaming now in question

Art Bell streaming now in question

UPDATE: Art Bell has announced that differences have been worked out and his return is solidified for July 2015.. more here..

    The original story:

ART BELL PULLS HIS WEBSITE AND DITCHES LONGTIME WEBMASTER.
Is his newest return over before it even begins?

Controversy began days ago when Dark Matter Network radio host Jimmy Church posted a photograph of himself standing with Coast to Coast AM host George Noory. The message that accompanied it: He would host Sunday’s upcoming Coast to Coast AM program. The outcry was immediate; fans of Church on the Dark Matter network smelled a rat.. and foes said it was what they expected.

The notable part of Chruch’s sudden apprenticeship with Noory is that his Fade to Black program is on the network built by Art Bell’s webmaster Keith Rowland. The Dark Matter network was also the expected vehicle for Art Bell’s return to streaming radio in 2015 when his Sirius XM non compete clause expired.

    Until now..

Last night, a seemingly angry Art Bell took to Facebook to announce several things, including his website being taken down and any mention of his name ont he Dark Matter page being scrubbed.

In totality, Art Bell wrote this to his fans and followers,

The Dark Matter Network was established as a Forum to showcase new Talent and as a place where after my two Year Non-compete was done (In July next Year) that I could begin streaming live, it was run by Keith Rowland and of course a alternative to Coast. In the last few days I began getting email’s from many of you who could not believe that one of the Talk Host’s on DM was invited to do a Guest Host gig on Coast. This was done I am sure to irritate me which it did, however the straw that broke the camels back was that Keith did not have the courtesy to call me. When I called him, his response was “don’t worry he will stay on DM and Coast”. At that point I decided to pull my Web Page and asked Keith to remove my name from the site. This is not about Jimmy Church, I wish him all the luck in the World, this is about trust in relationships.

Where this leaves me in terms of where I can stream a show now is a open question. What I do know is I have to be able to trust the people I work with.

    Art

The message was strong: A rift has seemed to develop now between Bell and Rowland–the man who has been Art’s right hand webmaster since the early days of the internet all the way to the Sirius XM shortfall.

Rowland himself posted  brief responses to the Bell message on Facebook:

So because I didn’t call Art and advise him that Jimmy would appear on C2C, I’m tossed under the bus, even though many DMRN hosts and guests have appeared on C2C already

    Rowland went on to write,

The appearance of Jimmy Church on C2C was to promote the Dark Matter Radio Network, the place where Art Bell was to return. I’m sorry that Art did that see that as its purpose.

I would love to resolve the issue, but Art doesn’t trust me anymore. I’m sorry that I wouldn’t be part of the Art Bell web site any more. I am running Dark Matter Radio Network as a basis for Art, but maybe that wont happen.

The always popular and readable BellGab website immediately lit up overnight with questions as to why ArtBell.com was suddenly unavailable. Some argued it was an error with the DNS. Then the truth came out when a message poster who emailed Rowland said that Rowland’s response to the web troubles was ,  “Ask Art.”  Other posters guessed correctly what the problem was: The Jimmy Church exploration of Coast.

Apparently, as was expected by some watching the affair develop from the beginning, Rowland did not bother to mention to Art Bell that one of his radio allies was about to cohort with the enemy.

This newest event seems to continue the process of Coast to Coast AM constantly one upping the talk show giant. Bell left Coast to Coast and George Noory took the program into a new direction. Fans of Bell often will complain that Noory bastardized the Bell traditions, like open lines and Ghost to Ghost. After Bell came back to SiriusXM radio for a short stint, Coast began plucking off guests from Bell. Even more, they worked behind the scenes with Sirius radio and when Bell left, Coast to Coast AM took over the time slot he had occupied immediately. And now this newest event, plucking hosts away from the Dark Matter network, is the newest dagger.

Some will argue, including Jimmy Church himself, that when a big named national radio show calls and asks to host, you don’t say no. That may be true. But in Art Bell’s circle, it seems that trust weighs far higher in the pecking order than fame or fortune. The private and often quirky Art Bell’s beef does nto seem to be with Church, it is apparent that the focal point of the newest controversy is his relationship with long time friend Keith Rowland.

Those who understand the situation know this: A host being taken from the DARK MATTER network to host the enemy terrestrial radio program is a big deal. For Church, it could be the deal of a lifetime. It may begin a new career as a potential weekend host on a radio program with over 500 affiliates. But for Bell, it apparently is something he wanted to know about. He did not find out for Rowland, but instead fans on Facebook who undoubtedly expressed anger in a multitude of messages.

So where does this leave Bell?
Up in the air, as so often happens.
The planned return to radio was going to be done in a new medium for him: Live streaming.  However, this rift seems to have stalled that plan.

There is a number of opinions being expressed on forums across the Internet, most notably on Bellgab. Some are angry at Bell himself, arguing that this is simply another temper tantrum and that he was looking for a way out of coming back. The majority however saw it coming. When Church announced his no professional relationship with George Noory–a man he once did not say many kind things about–the writing was on the wall: He wants to move on from Dark Matter. Keith Rowland neglected to tell Art that.

It’s tough being a fan of Art Bell. You never quite know where he stands on certain things. And when you do think you have it figured out, he takes his website down and exits the stage again.

As the famed ‘bateman’ on Bellgab said today: “Someone shit the bed big time here.” Perhaps the perfect summation to Church on Sunday.

  • More Art Bell commentary on the Ebola crisis

We may not be able to hear him nightly on the radio until his non compete clause with SIRIUS expires in 2015, but that is not stopping the talk show legend from taking to the Internet to express his anger over the apparent mishandling of the Ebola situation in the United States.

Bell posted several links over the past week concerning the outbreak. The latest update from his Pahrump homestead featured a photograph of a clearly unprepared person at the airport in Dallas as an Ebola patient was loaded no an airplane to Atlanta for treatment.

    bell1

    Minutes later, Bell said,

It seems to me that as long as Ebola remains spread only by bodily fluids that we will survive it, I am not sure we can survive the present level of stupid. Turns out the Nurse in Ohio actually called the CDC before boarding with a fever and they said no problem…..

    And he was right.

When news today was revealed that the second nurse in Dallas actually was on two airline flights over the weekend, the government seemed to initially blame her… At one point the CDC said it was the wrong thing for patient number 3 to do. But news broke late in the day that the nurse actually called the CDC and they said it was permissible for her to take the flights! The CDC said that since her fever was below 100 she was not in the category of high risk.. Hours after taking a flight from Cincinnati to Dallas, she was in an isolation ward ..

Bell’s words are right on the money.. A ‘present level of stupid.’ The problem is if the ‘stupid’ continues, the present level of reality may change.. The United States cannot afford many more stupid mistakes in the Ebola nightmare..

Tonight in an apparent attempt to save some face, President Obama addressed the nation concerning the crisis, saying that “Ebola swat teams” were prepared to respond to infections.. That term raised the eyebrows of some, with the term seemingly implying that violence against patients infected may be administered.. Instead, the nation was reassured that it simply means the CDC will be able to get to any hospital in all 50 states within 24 hours should another case pop up..

The same CDC that blamed the first nurse in Dallas, and now the same CDC that permitted a second nurse to board a flight while being in an Ebola watch group.

Art Bell is not the only former radio host who is speaking out about the latest news. Today, Matt Drudge broke his Twitter silence to post one of his first Tweets in months–after all of his others were deleted–simply saying “self quarantine.”

While Art Bell may not be heard nightly at this time, his words still register with the thousands of followers who like or comment on his semi-regular status updates. It’s notable that as of late, Bell seems to be more active on Facebook. Perhaps that is because, as any veteran listener could testify, his eyes and ears have always been on the Ebola story since the early 1990s.

Without a doubt, the high desert will be active with typed words from Bell until his voice will again be on the Dark  Matter Radio Network in the late summer of 2015.

And interestingly to contemplate, but then we will know what type of story Ebola turned out to be: A scare or a culling.

  • UPDATE: CLYDE LEWIS HEALTH SCARE

    UPDATE: CLYDE LEWIS HEALTH SCARE

Last night, while Clyde Lewis hosted his popular Ground Zero radio show, he abruptly ended the program and was rushed to the hospital for what turned out to be chest pains.

Tonight, Lewis’ program is again repeating an earlier broadcast as the host is still in the hospital under observation–the latest in a series of health issues that have taken aim at the paranormal radio star.

Clyde Lewis wrote this tonight on his Facebook page:

    UPDATE:

Clyde is resting well at OHSU Medical Center under close short-term observation, His experienced chest pains last night while on the air, related somewhat to his embolisms but, it turned out, not dangerously so. More urgent conditions were ruled out by immediate medical response and testing.

We know that it is worrisome when a show must end abruptly. We wait until there was something substantial to report before we make announcements on this page. As always, THANK YOU for your continued encouragement and support!

WHY CLYDE LEWIS IT THE GREATEST RADIO HOST ON THE AIR

    Dedication and devotion..

Just days after Ground Zero Radio host Clyde Lewis was admitted into the hospital for a pulmonary embolism, he did a live show from his hospital room tonight.

This guy may be one of the most dedicated talk show hosts on the air today—and the most listenable.

I don’t think we’d see George Noory and others do this..

    Good show, Clyde..as always.
