The Odds of This Dangerous Asteroid Hitting Earth Just Went Up

The odds of asteroid Bennu hitting Earth are still extremely low, NASA said in an update, but an impact could be disastrous.

Scientists have been tracking asteroid 101955 Bennu ever since it was discovered in 1999, in part because its orbit occasionally brings it close to Earth, raising the risk of a future crash.

At about 500 meters (1,600 feet) wide, the asteroid could wipe out a city if it impacted a populated area of our planet, though it would not wreak the kind of planetary damage caused by the Chicxulub impactor, which spanned at least 10 kilometers (6 miles) and ended the age of the dinosaurs.

Now keep In mind that we were talking about a 22nd century impact. So this one has no danger to us in the immediate future.. great great great great great grandchildren may face another reality ..

This week: A Very Donnie Darko moment ?

An out-of-control spent rocket launched by China in recent days is racing back towards Earth and what’s left of it is expected to impact Earth at some point in the coming days.

Nearly on the one year anniversary of a similar event that unfolded last year on May 11 by the identical rocket type, the U.S. government is once again monitoring the skies for the potential impact of this space junk.

Because it is out of control and moving erratically, experts aren’t sure exactly where it will land until an hour or two before it does; because it’s moving at speeds of over 15,000 mph, it may be too late to warn people of the impending impact zone.

The mystery over where it will land is increasingly concerning, but take it with a grain of salt. After all, scientist believe most of the parts will burn up in the atmosphere prior to any impact with the crust of the planet.

That’s the good news, but on the other flipside there are possibilities that little tiny pieces will fall down and rain from the sky. Well the sky may not necessarily be falling, we all want to avoid that strange Donnie Darko moment.

EVIDENCE OF NEW HUMAN SPECIES REVEALED!

    An amazing day of science…

    From the WALL STREET JOURNAL:

In a handful of fossilized teeth and bones, scientists say they’ve found evidence of a previously unknown human species that lived in what is now the Philippines about 50,000 years ago. The discovery deepens the mystery of an era when the world was a melting pot of many different human kinds on the move.
Small-jawed with dainty teeth, able to walk upright but with feet still shaped to climb, these island creatures were a mix-and-match patchwork of primitive and advanced features in a unique variation of the human form, the scientists reported Wednesday in the journal Nature.

    MORE..

The researchers formally named the newly discovered species Homo luzonensis in honor of the island where they found it. They unearthed the fossils from the floor of an immense limestone cavern called Callao Cave.

For the first time, scientists have replicated conditions described in the thought experiment. Their results, published Feb. 13 in the preprint journal arXiv, confirmed that even when observers described different states in the same photon, the two conflicting realities could both be true..

  • DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

A few days ago there were various news reports that scientists gained an ability to transmit a sound to someone without devices.. without anyone else hearing it.. It would just appear INSIDE YOUR HEAD..

In a paper published on Friday in the journal Optics Letters, the MIT team describes how it developed two different methods to transmit tones, music, and recorded speech via a laser.

Getting into the details of how this is happening: For one of their methods, the researchers “swept” a laser beam at the speed of sound, changing the length of the sweeps to encode different audible pitches.

This technique allowed them to transmit sound to a person more than 8.2 feet away at a volume of 60 decibels — about the loudness of background music or a conversation in a restaurant — without anyone between the source of the sound and the target hearing it.

For the other method, they encoded an audio message by adjusting a laser beam’s power. They said this technique produced a quieter but clearer result.

This entire news event has brought up some memories of distant paranoia.. Remember those old MKULTRA allegations? People who said that noises or thoughts were beamed directly into their unsuspecting heads?

This is also NOT the first time this ability has become known..

Dateline early 2018: Non-lethal yet still horribly unpleasant weapons are all the rage these days, from puke rays to pink tasers. What’s the next step? How about a beam that inserts voices into your head? Yes, you could be minding your own business looting a Best Buy during a riot and all of the sudden there’s a voice coming from inside your own brain saying “We’re really disappointed with you.” Enter the SCHIZO BEAM..

Traveling WAY BACK into the machine to 2007, this little tidbit of conspiracy was published by WIRED:

Now the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is jumping on the bandwagon with their new “Sonic Projector” program:  The goal of the Sonic Projector program is to provide Special Forces with a method of surreptitious audio communication at distances over 1 km. Sonic Projector technology is based on the non-linear interaction of sound in air translating an ultrasonic signal into audible sound. The Sonic Projector will be designed to be a man-deployable system, using high power acoustic transducer technology and signal processing algorithms which result in no, or unintelligible, sound everywhere but at the intended target. The Sonic Projector system could be used to conceal communications for special operations forces and hostage rescue missions, and to disrupt enemy activities.

    Clyde Lewis intelligently opined,

Today, however, this presumption might no longer hold. Sophisticated neuroimaging machines and brain-computer interfaces detect the electrical activity of neurons, enabling us to decode and even alter the nervous system signals that accompany mental processes. Whereas these advances have a great potential for research and medicine, they pose a fundamental ethical, legal and social challenge: determining whether or under what conditions it is legitimate to gain access to or interfere with another person’s neural activity.

This question has special social relevance because many neurotechnologies have moved away from a medical setting and into the commercial domain. Attempts to decode mental information via imaging are also occurring in court cases, sometimes in a scientifically questionable way.

The danger is in the fact that these newer “stealth” technologies could be used at any time – and the person being targeted would not even know they were being targeted.
This technology could potentially be used against people who object to mandatory vaccination, medical kidnapping, the nationalization of our private health data, the use of toxic chemicals in food, mandatory indoctrination of children in the public education system, mainstream media brainwashing, the collection of information about our religious and political beliefs, the denial of the right to assemble in peaceful protests against the overreaching power of national and state government, to name just a few.
Brain-reading technology can be seen as just another unavoidable trend that erodes a bit more of our personal space in the digital world. But given the sanctity of our mental privacy, we might not be so willing to accept this intrusion. People could, in fact, look at this technology as something that requires the reconceptualization of basic human rights and even the creation of neurospecific rights.

I am sure that if there is any reason to create an addendum to the fourth amendment it would be to detail neurospecific rights. We would have to add that beyond unlawful search and seizure of your effects we would have to declare that any and all neurosearches or mental controlling for interrogation or for any reason should be declared unconstitutional.

The future is now. Or was it then?
When did we get the ability to beam me up Scotty.. or at least hear SCOTTY being told to beam up?

For more than a month now, a European orbiter circling Marshas…

For more than a month now, a European orbiter circling Marshas been watching a long, plume-like cloud on the Red Planet.

The cloud has remained in place over a mountain called Arsia Mons near the Martian equator since Sept. 13, according to a statement released by the European Space Agency (ESA). But that location is just a coincidence, the agency adds. No volcanic process is producing the cloud — the volcano hasn’t been active in about 50 million years, scientists believe.

Scientists work out what will happen when the sun dies

Professor Albert Zijslra says, ‘When a star dies it ejects a mass of gas and dust – known as its envelope – into space.

‘The envelope can be as much as half the star’s mass. This reveals the star’s core, which by this point in the star’s life is running out of fuel, eventually turning off and before finally dying.

‘It is only then the hot core makes the ejected envelope shine brightly for around 10,000 years – a brief period in astronomy. This is what makes the planetary nebula visible.

‘Some are so bright that they can be seen from extremely large distances measuring tens of millions of light years, where the star itself would have been much too faint to see.’

A cross-section of underground ice is exposed at the steep slope that appears bright blue in this enhanced-color view from the HiRISE camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The scene is about 550 yards wide. The scarp drops about 140 yards from the level ground in the upper third of the image.Credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/UA/USGS

This could be a game changer–and quite the about face since the past several months of news gathered have reinforced the notion that no water at all existed..

As reported in the journal Science (paywall), the water was found in both the north and south of Mars, at latitudes equivalent to South America and Scotland. The exposed areas were found on scarps as steep as 55 degrees. Based on the absence of craters in the regions, scientists believe that the features formed relatively recently.

“The discovery reported today gives us surprising windows where we can see right into these thick underground sheets of ice,” study co-author Shane Byrne of the University of Arizona told NASA. “It’s like having one of those ant farms where you can see through the glass on the side to learn about what’s usually hidden beneath the ground.”
Researchers found the scarp sites by gauging colors using the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the MRO, and confirmed its purity using CRISM (Compact Reconnaissance Imaging spectrometer for Mars). The orbiter has previously found extensive ice sheets at other locations on Mars using its Shallow Radar camera, but it was impossible to say how deep it was. Now, scientists know that it’s close enough to access with relative ease.

States Preparing For Historic Eclipse Like A Natural Disaster! »

According to greatamericaneclipse.com, another 1.8 to 7.4-million people will travel into the path on Aug. 21. Several small towns and less populated states are preparing to see their populations double or even triple in the week leading up to the solar event.

And in our country of fear–a nation on edge constantly since 9/11 so many years ago–everything becomes frantic..

Several counties in Idaho and Oregon have already issued emergency declarations. Local officials are citing increased public safety risks, financial damage, and excess costs of cleanup and property damage for the alerts…

The path of totality is in population zones not really prepared for an influx of a great amount of people..

But the panic in media that has been displayed is over the top.

We are on the verge of seeing a major historic event–once in a lifetime event for some people alive today.

Can we please.. PLEASE.. just enjoy it?

    Maybe in 2024.

Scientists have uploaded a short movie of a galloping horse into the DNA of living bacteria and were able to retrieve it with a 90% success rate “DNA has a lot of properties that are good for archival storage,” Shipman said. “It’s much more stable than silicon memory if you wanted to hold something for thousands of years.” In the new study, published Wednesday in the journal Nature, Shipman wanted to see if bacterial DNA could be used to record the order in which new information was added to its genome.
