Major quake hits Mexico

The biggest earthquake since 2003 took place today in Mexico. Initial reports had the shake registering at 7.9.. later it was downgraded to 7.6 and the 7.4– but it doesn’t change the impact it has had on the psyche of those who felt the rumbling..
Reuters reports that office workers fled into the streets after their buildings shook ‘like trampolines’ …. nerves were rattled along with infrastructure, but no major damage, deaths, or injuries have been reported in the aftermath of the shaking..
The stock exchange suspended trading early. Traffic around Mexico City was at a standstill in the immediate aftermath.
Reuters also reports that, though the White House initially declined to comment on reports that Malia Obama was vacationing in Mexico, they had to comment after the earthquake blew the lid off the story:
The White House, which has declined to confirm reports that President Barack Obama’s daughter Malia was vacationing in Mexico, said the 13-year-old was safe.

“In light of today’s earthquake, we can confirm that Malia Obama is safe and was never in danger,” said Kristina Schake, communications director to first lady Michelle Obama. “We would reiterate our request that the media respect the privacy and security of the Obama children and not report on or photograph the girls when they are not with their parents.”
All are safe.
All are rattled.
The earth is a shakin….
