Month: March 2012

  • Booms and busts

    Booms and busts

The USGS says that mini quakes have led to the booms in the night around Clintonville and surrounding towns in Wisconsin.. But residents question the theory.. Some heard booms long before the 1.5 quake was detected..

Town officials say that the ‘mystery is solved’.. They also told residents that they are safe..
Some who heard those pronouncements aren’t so sure..
    Still watching this close..

  • The dry future

    The dry future

Times are going to be grim in the near future, according to the latest government assessments on the future about how water will be used as a weapon of war.

The main areas of crisis will be North Africa, Asia, and parts of the Middle East .. Millions will be affected..

  • Heatmiser lives: The tsunami factor

    Heatmiser lives: The tsunami factor

Lots of eyebrows are raised at the heat  as of late.. while many are enjoying the bountiful weather of warmth, sporting short sleeved Ts and shorts, the back of the mind knows it is a guilty pleasure. Could it be, something wrong with this whole picture? A month where the normal temperatures are often cold and we have heat? Where St. Patrick’s Day is often white instead of green? …where 80s don’t persist this long until April or May? .. Indeed.

But a new theory has surfaced–in jest–but it may be the best of any!  Call it the tsunami defense.. the wreckage in the Pacific is so extensive after the March 2011 tsunami, that it heated the planet and changed wind currents. The idea was put forth by Henry Margusity of Accuweather in a complete joking manner.  Sadly now he is being mocked for it since Accuweather blew the overall winter prediction for the year.

The worrying part of this whole heat wave is this: If the experts are confounded and the forecasters are stunned, we should be looking outside the box. And that is not to say that the tsunami heated the planet, but the old weather patterns perhaps are truly changing .. why? Global warming? Earth changes.. cooling..

And what if this: The planet moved after last year’s Japan quake. Could that have caused a shift in where certain weather patterns persist?
    I don’t know.
And guess what.. no one really knows.
    Like forecasters, we just guess.

I like Henry from Accuweather.. I’ll stand by him, regardless of how wacky a theory could be.

The real story here is that it’s scary that we have to guess about why the weather is so absolutely strange as of late..

  • Excuse me, is your arm vibrating or are you just happy to see me?

Excuse me, is your arm vibrating or are you just happy to see me?

The future is now.. how far down this road are you willing to travel? How much of the path is safe.. secure.. Where should it end? It appears it will not have to end therefore only you can choose to lose the amount of sanity you want.
Headline: Nokia has filed for a parent for tattoos that will be able to receive a magnetic wave to indicate when a cell phone call is coming in.
We were supposed to have flying cars and household robots. Not magnetic arms that tingle when someone phones…
The power hour is here. There is not stopping technology.  I have said before, and stand by the prediction now, that cell phones will soon be implanted from birth in your hand.. Google on your fingers.. all knowing and always there.. RFID chips ..hold the salsa.

  • Hundreds of residents go to Clintonville WI town hall

Hundreds of residents go to Clintonville WI town hall

Could it be the temperatures? Record high temps may have affecting some soil underneath the city of Clintonville, WI.. this information was relayed to the town hall that had hundreds in attendance..

The theory on temperatures has been mentioned before as a possible explanation to the strange noises keeping residents of Clintonville (and now some other towns too) awake in the early morning hours .. The notion that less snow and more warmth, and now the record heat wave taking place across the nation and Wisconsin, is leading to ground changes that are causes dramatic noises like the ones being heard (and felt) by townspeople..

While most are shaken by the tremors, authorities at the town hall continued to ensure that the occurrences are all natural. Many across the world are on edge after months of ‘noises’ and strange sounds all over the globe.

Wild theories persist about Clintonville.. UFOs.. the end times.. big megaquake coming.

    Or all natural?

  • Maybe you don’t think the temperatures outside are frightful…

Maybe you don’t think the temperatures outside are frightful…

    But..
    They are.
The normal high for parts of the United States pales in comparison to what the actual temperature is. Temps about thirty degrees above normal is commonplace this March.. while it has been spring only for mere hours, the actual temperature has been springlike if not downright summerlike throughout vast portions of the United States. Records have fallen.. tornadoes struck in what should have been the dead of winter.. no snow melt because of no snow.. white Christmases were few and far between. This year has been …well, if you think about it, frightful!
Common Dreams has a good collection of links about this odd weather we are all experiencing. The amount of 70s and 80s this time in March is strange. It has been seen before.. but so many days in a row? So warm.. so humid? So thick of atmosphere..? Common Dreams quoted Jess Masters of Weather Underground.. this comment perhaps sums up this odd winter/spring heat the best:

As I stepped out of my front door into the pre-dawn darkness I braced myself for the cold shock of a mid-March morning. It didn’t come. A warm, murky atmosphere, with temperatures in the upper fifties — 30 degrees above normal – greeted me instead. Continuous flashes of heat lightning lit up the horizon, as the atmosphere crackled with the energy of distant thunderstorms. I looked up at the hazy stars above me, flashing in and out of sight as lightning lit up the sky, and thought, this is not the atmosphere I grew up with.

Not the weather any of us grew up with… at all. Is this the new norm? Have earth changes so accelerated that winter is gone? Or was La Nina so strong that it was meant to be a snowless and coldness winter?

    Accuweather’s Henry Margusity wrote this:

The only snow cover east of the Rockies is across northern Maine. I have not seen snow gone so early in 25 yrs of Forecasting

25 years isn’t much in the grand scheme of things. But in our lifetime? Pretty important stuff…
If it’s 80 in March.. I dread what July will be……….
