Gone but not forgotten
Asteroid 2012 DA14 has safely passed by Earth, according to NASA. The closest approach was 17,500 miles above Indonesia.
“It has passed closest approach and this asteroid is going away,” said Paul Chodus of the Near Earth Object team -

Today appears to be the day when the sky fell..The meteorite in Russia that slammed.. and the asteroid about that is going to …wham without the slam..
NASA says there is an alarming loss of water in the Middle East.. I have long read predictions of future ‘water wars’.. lots of prophets prognisticated it would occur. We are seeing drought conditions in so many places throughout the earth, it makes me think those water wars will be here before we know it..

‘Cosmic coincidence’
The meteorite that hit Russia today was simply a ‘coincidence’ according to a report just moments ago on NBC news. No connection to the asteroid according to scientists and experts..
The European Space Agency is reporting…..via Twitter… that there is no connection between the meteorite that his Russia and the asteroid passing near earth. And no disrespect to statements via Twitter, but it did not allow the agency to shed any light on how it came to the assertion that there was no connection.

Russia reports meteorite crater found; Asteroid connection?
The NEW YORK TIMES reporting minutes ago on the meteorite in Russia.. The TIMES reported this:
However, the governor of the Chelyabinsk district reported that a search team had found an impact crater on the outskirts of a city about 50 miles west of Chelyabinsk, which would indicate the meteor did not explode in the atmosphere. An official from the Interior Ministry told Interfax that three large pieces of meteorite debris had been retrieved in the area and that 10,000 police officers are searching for more.
A small asteroid, known as 2012 DA14, is expected to pass close to earth later on Friday, NASA reported on its Web site. It was not clear whether the meteorite event in the Ural Mountains was in any way related.

Maybe something.. This snippet of information comes from the UK GUARDIAN:
Professor Ian Crawford of Birkbeck University was just interviewed about the meteorites on Sky News.
He said it was too early to tell if this incident was connected to the asteroid passing by the earth tonight.
The interviewed expert ends by stating the two space objects are ‘probably not’ connected..
I think the jury is out.
Just hope no more meteorites will shower the planet the rest of the day… And in fact I’m sure Russia hopes the same, too.. -

This is a developing story.. A meteorite has crashed into Russia.. but there’s more than just a crash.This from RT:
Russia’s Urals region has been rocked by a meteorite explosion in the stratosphere. The impact wave damaged several buildings, and blew out thousands of windows amid frigid winter weather. Hundreds are seeking medical attention for minor injuries.
And the timing?? Today is the day an asteroid is passing within 17,000 miles from earth.. Is no wonder pass panic ensued.
