Round the world and home again

    That’s the sailor’s way

    Faster faster, faster faster

There’s no earthly way of knowing

    Which direction we are going

There’s no knowing where we’re rowing

Or which way the river’s flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing

    Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing

Are the fires of Hell a-glowing

    Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing

For the rowers keep on rowing

    And they’re certainly not showing

Any signs that they are slowing

  • School days of August

    School days of August

I had a bit of an emotional morning the other day .. at a strange place no less: A gas station..

After filling my car with regular octane, I walked into the store to grab a snack and coffee … and noticed Halloween candy. Halloween candy!?  And back to school signs! Autumn!? School buses!?

I have been out of high school long enough to not care as much about the change of seasons as I did then. For years now, the only real difference between the heat of summer and vibrant colors of fall has been the reemergence of buses and children with faces of dread waiting for their ride to the hallowed halls of wherever..

But this year, the emotions will be much higher. Much more real. This year, after all, will be my son’s first year of the real deal: Kindergarten. On a bus. At a school..

My wife told me she plans on having emotions that first day. I casually said I understand and tried to toughen my own upper lip—though I know full well I will shed as many tears of time that she will.  Along with that, with my typical mindset, I will have every type of worry flying through my mind.. From now and until forever.

    # # #

It really is a strange thing to consider.. After all of this formative years of my son’s early age passing by so quickly, I have become inclined to long for the nights of bottles and diaper changes. My heart aches with nostalgia when I think back to Thomas the Train toys and Caillou marathons. Well… maybe not the Caillou part.

But all of this!? All of this done? Gone? Five years already over? Yes indeed.. and now a new phase of life has come. The school time. Life will change for my son. My wife. And me.

    # # #

Life did begin changing this summer. Starting around July, my wife and I decided that not only would Ayden play soccer, but that WE WOULD COACH A TEAM! So we signed up and go the same shirts as the kids.. two games into the regular season already behind us, the shocking part of all of this (more than even the notion of two people being thrown into a coaching scenario)  is how fast all of the soccer season as gone as well!  Early July, when practice was over, the light of day would continue ferociously into the 9pm hour.  Now as we edge towards the end of summer, we begin to see the darkness creeping in… 820..810..8pm.. Slowly but surely, the time of tomorrow is beginning today. No stopping it now. Progress halts for no one.

    # # #

The emotional change from one ‘season’ of life to another is most likely shared by what YOU have gone through. OR going through now.

The school year can reap amazing benefits.. or leave you feeling collapsed by the weight of time.

The festival of Samhain just around the corner, as is the traditional highlights of the autumn season.

    # # #

Perhaps all of this sounds too over the top? Too melodramatic even.. If that is the case, chances are you never had a child or don’t have one now.. you do not realize the beautiful feeling of holding your spawn close and providing as much love for him or her as you could…

We have a room of toys currently. The contents of rooms change.. The vestiges of the past get dusty. But they all meant something … They all had a purpose. The new future will be filled with homework and tests… eventually adulthood.

    I am not ready yet!

I want the first five years of life back all over again.

    But the future is now.

And bus doors are opening ever so soon.

  • Noreen Gosch appears on Coast to Coast AM with Dave Schrader

Noreen Gosch appears on Coast to Coast AM with Dave Schrader

This past weekend, a very important Coast to Coast AM aired.. The Saturday program, hosted by Darkness Radio’s Dave Schrader featured several guests that spoke about the cold case from 1982 of Johnny Gosch..

Gosch was the first person who appeared on a milk carton in the 80s… he was a paperboy who was taken from his route. Police did not immediately help in the search and labeled it a non crime.. the only ferocious advocate of Johnny became his mother, Noreen.

Coast to Coast AM featured Noreen Gosch, along with David Belinson and Michael Galinsky. Belinson and Galinsky are both filmmakers of a documentary entitled WHO TOOK JOHNNY. The film chronicles the story of Noreen and her quest to find justice in a small town, fight a system that ended up being a part of the problem, and become a vocal advocate for truth and others who found themselves embroiled in the same awful scenario…

There are so many aspects to the Gosch story — long time readers of this website may recall other articles I have done on Gosch and related stories.

The intrigue over Gosch never has gone away.. As a matter of fact, with the increased attention given to child pedophile networks and human trafficking, the Gosch case has become even more important and timely.

In the late 1980s and early 90s, a rash of news broke regarding a man named Larry King—not the talk show host. King was the head of a failed credit union called the Franklin Credit Union. He was also an African American rising star of the Republican party, even opening the 1984 GOP convention by singing the national anthem.  FEDs busted the credit union, and King ended up in jail. But troubling details of the Franklin Credit Union was this: It also may have been involved with a child sex ring that provided kidnapped kids to the highest leaders in the nation. You can Google the Franklin Credit Union scandal … you can decide for yourself.

While you’re it, try looking at YouTube for a documentary titled ‘Conspiracy of Silence.’ It was filmed in the early 90s by British filmmakers in Omaha.  The documentary was never aired—squelched by people who feared the repercussions. Thankfully thanks to the Internet it’s online.

Google Paul Bonnaci—he was spoken about on Coast to Coast AM Saturday. He is the only witness who said he had direct knowledge of Gosch—saying he took him!—and was ever interviewed by police. Noreen Gosch met with him privately however, and troubling details of the immediate aftermath of Johnny’s kidnapping was revealed to her. That footage is included with the WHO TOOK JOHNNY documentary..

Another subject you can research: John DeCamp. He is one of the most vital and truthful people who has ever lived.. he is constantly fighting against the system, and has played an important role in the Gosch and Franklin Credit Union cases..

And for some fun and intrigue, look into connections between all of these stories and the giant redwood trees of California … a little place for the elite called the Bohemian Grove.

I have listened to Noreen Gosch several times throughout the years.  During this interview conducted by Schrader, she sounded different. She sounded like she lived a life she never expected.. like she is filled with a vast amount of sadness… I cannot assume things about her or for her. But I certainly can feel empathy for what she has gone through..

Yes, there are some who said then and still say now that Noreen Gosch is not stable. That she had made up the supposed March 1997 2am knock at her door when she said that Johnny came home for just a short amount of time to explain what occurred to him and that he was safe…

    Do I believe her?

Yes. I at least believe that she believes it. I read someone that someone believes she made it up to stay sane. Or …. Sometimes in life the most insane of things can happen.

This story is immensely important.. not just because it was the first milk carton case or because it was the beginning of the kidnap fears of the 80s (think of the DIFF’RENT STROKES episode where Arnold and Sam battled the kidnapper in a van before Mr. Drummond got there in time) … But it is important even more so for today’s modern age.

We want to cover our eyes and souls from the darkness that exists in life.. from the horror that happens in the world. But crimes against children are not going away. Human trafficking are even more common than ever before.. Yes, these crimes exist. And yes, these horrors happen.

Hold your child close. Keep them aware of dangers.. Trust your instincts.

And listen to the story of Noreen Gosch. Listen to her words. And watch WHO TOOK JOHNNY.. It is available on iTunes and Amazon now. And in a few weeks on Netflix..

Finally we are hearing information and the deep true story of the quest to find Johnny Gosch….A missing person who vanished from life at the age of 12. Stuck in a time.. stuck in a moment… and gone ever since.

Heather Wade gives update on Art Bell on Coast

The strange truly occurred tonight.. Heather Wade, host of Midnight in the Desert, briefly appeared on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory during his opening news segment to speak about Art Bell’s health condition. Hearing her voice in that program once would have been consisted impossible .. The impassible happened.

Wade kept to the facts. She explained Bell’s frequent hospitals visits due to colitis and complications with COPD–along with a rough case of pneumonia  ..

Obe humorous aspect was that Art Bell had to be transferred from a hospital because they didn’t have CNN as an option, and went to a larger Las Vegas facility..

Bell is exercising and slowly recovering in his home in Pahrump.. Wade credits Airyn for staying by Bell’s side during the ordeal..

Noory ended the brief interview with a note that Coast and Midnight listeners are praying for the legendary talk show host.

Noory moved on to present his regularly scheduled program, along with ’emerging artists’..

  • CRITICS BE DAMNED! SUICIDE SQUAD A HIT!

CRITICS BE DAMNED! SUICIDE SQUAD A HIT!

The clatter and chatter last week was all about critics vs moviegoers.. The critics said SUICIDE SQUAD was awful.. terrible! Abominable.. Ratings on Rotten Tomatoes weren’t better. Even some reports had moviegoers feeling frustrated with what was perceived as a 2 hour barrage of movie trailers within a movie.

All that doesn’t matter now as a major August movie maker just was revealed: SUICIDE SQUAD racked up dollars with $146 million for the weekend take!

DEADLINE previously reported that CinemaScore crowds under 35 gave Suicide Squad an A- (76%), while 46% females gave it an A-.  The pic also earned an A with the under 18 demo (28%).  Smith and Robbie fans both gave it the film an A-, each group turning up at 30% each..

    History redone?
Don’t forget an earlier movie this year, BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, also had awful movie reviews.. but went on to have an exceptional box office take.

Whether SUICIDE SQUAD is a repeat or not will be seen next week.. Box offices will relatively stay the same in number, but the percentage drop from this week to next will be the most telling..

    Developing..

  • FLASH: RIO RATINGS PLUMMET

    FLASH: RIO RATINGS PLUMMET

NBC Olympic coverage is falling like a rocket from outer space..
Early ratings are large but still the lowest since 1996..
Friday night opening ceremonies were delayed by NBC to ensure that people driving home would see them.. But Early returns give the broadcast network’s coverage an overnight 16.5 rating among households.. It stands as the lowest overnight for a Summer Games since 1996

In the primetime hours between 8 and 11 p.m., the coverage averaged a 10.0 rating in the advertiser-favored demo of adults 18-49..

    A perspective from the past:
2014: Sochi Winter Games — 17 rating; 31.7 million viewers

2012: London Summer Games — 21.7 rating; 40.7 million viewers

2010: Vancouver Winter Games — 17.3 rating; 32.7 million viewers

2008: Beijing Summer Games — 18.8 rating; 34.9 million viewers

2006: Turin Winter Games — 12.8 rating; 22.2 million viewers

2004: Athens Summer Games — 14.4 rating; 25.4 million viewers

2002: Salt Lake City Winter Games — 25.5 rating; 25.5 million viewers

2000: Sydney Summer Games — 16.2 rating; 16.2 million viewers

But also take into consideration the so far boring coverage that NBC is providing for the games.. Perhaps as some of the more hardcore sports heat up things will change, but thus far hours of table tennis and late night volleyball isn’t producing too much excitement..

    Bob Costas! Save the day!

    Strange things above… panic below.

A few days ago there were weird lights over St. Louis that last for at least an hour .. those weird lights made big news in that city.

Now the weird lights reports are expanding..

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is the latest area where strange orb-like visions have been spotted.. From CBS news:

KDKA received some calls into our newsroom about it, starting around 8 p.m.

People reported seeing a shiny, silver object in the sky. The reports were coming from areas west of downtown.

“Around 8 p.m., we were looking up into the northern sky and saw what looked like just to be a bright, silver object in the sky, and then after we got a telescope on it, it looked like it was a clear balloon that was catching the light as it moved from west to east,” said Russ Moll, of McKees Rocks.

Moll says it was it a very odd sight in the evening sky.

“It stood out because it was before dusk and so the stars weren’t out yet, so it just really caught our eye,” Moll said. “You noticed it as being something out of the ordinary.”

    And this..

The National Weather Service sends balloons up to measure atmospheric conditions; however, they said they had no issues Thursday night.

In a statement, they say: “We’ve had no issues with the launch this evening or any calls about objects floating/glowing in the sky.”

    Look to the sky!
You’ll never know what you will see..

‘STEELBERG’ is the person who deserves credit for the picture you are seeing..

This is what a STRANGER THINGS VHS cover art box would have looked like if it would have been released in the 1980s.. And since the show is based with the 80s as the setting, the cover art and photo just feel right. Like it WAS made in the Reagan era..

There are also many more images of what VHS cover art would have looked like for modern shows..

    Very impressive work.

It makes me nostalgic for things that ACTUALLY EXIST NOW.

    Well done.

  • The GIFless Olympics

    The GIFless Olympics

“NEWS ACCESS RULES APPLICABLE FOR THE BROADCAST OF THE GAMES OF THE XXXI OLYMPIAD, RIO DE JANEIRO, 5-21 AUGUST 2016”

    – The title of the document from the  International Olympic Committee that is prohibiting without exception the use of GIFs of memorable Olympics moments..

    The full text reads:

“Internet and Mobile Platforms Notwithstanding any other applicable limitation included in these NARs, Olympic Material must not be broadcast on interactive services such as “news active” or “sports active” or any other related Video on Demand services, which would allow the viewer to make a viewing choice within a channel and to thereby view Olympic Material at times and programs other than when broadcast as part of a News Program as set out in Clause 1 above. Additionally, the use of Olympic Material transformed into graphic animated formats such as animated GIFs (i.e. GIFV), GFY, WebM, or short video formats such as Vines and others, is expressly prohibited.”

and with that.. the GIFs are banned.. Done. Edited out. Down the memory hole. Nonexistent.

  • The SUICIDE clash

    The SUICIDE clash

Fans feud with critics ahead of ‘Suicide Squad’ release »

This has turned into a mean ordeal..

Critics have lambasted the film.. some have called for the website ROTTEN TOMATOES to actually be shut down because of the negative press that has been linked on the SUICIDE SQUAD page..

What is noteworthy about the aforementioned article linked here: My friend Anghus Houvouras from Flickering Myth got quoted by CNBC about the movie and controversy:

“I think they believe the potential is there. Take (2016’s) ‘Ghostbusters’ which pushed a very strong misogynist narrative. It became less about the quality of the film and more about the ‘importance’ of a blockbuster with an all-female leading cast,” Anghus Houvouras, movie maker and writer for the pop culture website Flickering Myth, told CNBC via email.

“Sony and Paul Feig got on board and beat that horse to death. But it didn’t end up resulting in the kind of cultural zeitgeist they were hoping for. Those who benefit from feuds are the media and websites that proliferate a binary narrative. Conflict breeds clicks,” he said.
