HIGHLIGHT OF HALLOWEEN: THE RETURN OF LOOMIS!

THE HIGHLIGHT OF HALLOWEEN KILLS MAY HAVE BEEN DR. LOOMIS! Who was it that played him!? Not CGI.. It is played by Tom Jones Jr., and it was a brave choice in a time when everything is recreated with computers..

THE HIGHLIGHT OF HALLOWEEN KILLS MAY HAVE BEEN DR. LOOMIS! Who was it that played him!? Not CGI.. It is played by Tom Jones Jr., and it was a brave choice in a time when everything is recreated with computers..

He is not an actor! Instead Jones is a a prolific construction coordinator, having worked on projects such as The AbyssThe Conjuring and the Swamp Thing series.

He also bears an resemblance to Donald Pleasence, so when combined with the voice of soundalike Colin Mahan – who voiced the doctor on an audio recording in Halloween 2018 – Loomis was starring in the 1978 flashback scene of  Halloween Kills.

Perhaps HALLOWEEN KILLS would have been smarter to give us an entire flashback movie..

The first few minutes of the film were an homage but also inspired that same 1978 feeling thanks to camera work and lighting.. the scenery mimicked the original film spectacularly, and the music matched. Maybe instead of the modern version, an entire retro movie would have been better. . . ? With Jones as Loomis for good measure…

MICHAEL MYERS MAKES KILLING AT BOX!

Halloween Kills released on Friday both in theaters and on Peacock, and absolutely dominated at the box office with a $55 million take. Most of it came from North America and its love for Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter, and the $50 million debut came above original expectations.

People seemed to ditch the at home experience in place for theaters..

NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME OR LATE NIGHT: SNL BECOMES A DINOSAUR

Last night’s telecast of Saturday Night Live with host Rami Malek and musical guest Young Thug drew a 3.4 household Live + Same Say rating in the 44 metered local markets and 1.3 in 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Lorne Michaels.. head in hands.. looking at these latest ratings. But perhaps he’d be better wondering if the funny is just not funny.

There has been this common consensus lately that “comedy” does not need to equal laughs, just social lessons.

Ratings tell a different story..

Last night’s telecast of Saturday Night Live with host Rami Malek and musical guest Young Thug drew a 3.4 household Live + Same Say rating in the 44 metered local markets and 1.3 in 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

That was down last week’s show, hosted by Kim Kardashian West with musical guest Halsey (3.8, 1.6). Last night’s telecast, which featured surprise appearances by Malek’s No Time To Die co-star Daniel Craig, matched the all-time demo low in the LPM markets posted by the last two episodes of SNL’s Season 46 as well as the Season 47 premiere two weeks ago. It set a new low in metered market households.

In other words.. few are watching besides the clips on Youtube..

Not ready for prime time … times more.
