    Cauliflower in space

    In case you have not heard, there has been cauliflower found in Mars. Well not really. But rest assured, before you listen to people are using this SMITHSONIAN article as ‘proof’ of aliens, there is some interesting scientific theory behind what the SPIRIT ROVER found in 2008. Or maybe proof that the movie THE MARTIAN was actually a documentary..

    Nonetheless here is the news from the red planet. Arizona University scientists Jack Farmer and Steven Ruff say that we my be on to evidence of past ice on the planet. (Maybe ice now too, people?!) The cauliflowerish stuff looks a it like structures formed around geysers on the planet Earth. These deposits on Mars are called opaine silica, and they were noticed on the planet in the Gustev crater. Wonder what Martians called that crater. Wonder what Martians called their planet…? Nonetheless… The layers ok Ike heads of cauliflower coming out of the ground. In this case the very red Martian ground.

    The prospects are enormous.. This could prove past life. IT could also turn lots of scientific data on its head. Trouble on that: It does get difficult to study such things so many millions of miles away..However it could make the hunt and excitement for life more exciting. Except to those who have already long ago decided that life on Mars did exist. Or does.

    As evidence? The rodent on Mars. MUCH MORE conclusive that cauliflower.

    THE DOME ON THE RED ROCK

    Unless you live under a rock or on the planet Mars, you’ve heard about this rumor flying around the net: There is a dome on the red planet. Perhaps not just any dome.. but .. a dome showing off a religious institution of yesteryear among Martians. Perhaps even of today! Perhaps it’s still in use!? Maybe built with taxpayer dollars on the red planet…?

     

    There are a few points to remember when looking at any image like this, in this case from the Sol 4073 camera: We can see LOTS of things in the Martian soil and background that resemble things we know. Our brains that does. We liken certain shapes to other things we are familiar with.

    That being said..

    This sure as hell looks like a dome.

    The location to focus on: The top right. On that mountain. You know, right where the dome is?

     

    OF course if the Jet Propulsion Laboratory linked this on their own site, you’d certainly think less of a conspiracy they are trying to hide of life on the planet and more simply of a rock formation that we have taken and created a name for.

    But again..
    It just looks like a dome. And near it a path? Or a structure that seems to compliment the dome? Perhaps a guard shack?

    However, the tricks your eyes can do are amazing.

    After all, it’s not just a dome I see in this picture.

    Note the middle of the image, towards the left. There is a rock that looks uniquely like the online fad the Annoying Orange. To better help, a visual presentation of that:

    While I certainly don’t think the annoying orange formation is anything more than a rock with shadows that resemble a mouth and eyes, I will say this: That dome? Yes indeed. That looks a lot like a dome.

    Water+Mars=?

    This was the mathish problem I asked last night on my personal Facebook page.. the answers I received were humorous.. But it showcased that the underbelly of humanity yesterday was excited by the prospect that we found water on Mars–water that is flowing. 

    The choice answers included ice cream, ‘humans,’ aliens, and my favorite, ‘how we got here.’ 

    How we got here..
    That has been the long thought inside my own head..

    It’s unbelievable to think of how much changed since my grade school years formed my view of the universe–a view challenged by time and discovery. At that time, Mars was barren and desolate. It was only after hearing Richard C. Hoagland tell Art Bell during the 1990s version of Coast to Coast AM that water flowed on Mars that I actually started to contemplate the idea of liquid on the red planet. . 

    Perhaps that is also why the announcement yesterday wasn’t too surprising to me.

    I have a few people I chalk up as friends who take the Bible very literally. I have some spirited discussions with them about my viewpoint on that. But for them, the Bible is gold. It’s the word of God and it’s historical in nature.. So playing the devil in the devil’s advocate setup, I often ask them if they would find it reasonable to conclude that Noah’s Ark was a spaceship and the flood actually happened on Mars, the spaceship traveled to earth to escape. LAUGHABLE, they tell me–of course I remind them that their position also could incur as many chuckles as another. 

    I think now that water has been found, I’m going to tell them it backs up my premise of the NOAH spaceship idea.. Water on Mars. The leftovers of the great flood that ended Mars-humanity.

    Of course.. I’m being tongue in cheek.

    NASA has set a Mars news conference for Monday September 28 to present a ‘major announcement’

    NASA has sent lots of people into a tizzy over the announcement thety say is coming that will ‘solve’ a mystery about Mars..

    The space agency says a major announcement is coming Monday, a news conference is set for 11:30am ET adn will be broadcast on NASA TV and its website–hopefully it the news is big enough, people will ignore Donald Trump for five minutes and actually give the space agency some time on the major networks..

    If it’s HUGE enough, NBC should do the Chimes of Death and give us a special report on their affiliates. Of course it would have to be big news for the Chimes to play.

    Perhaps water on Mars is.. or life.. or evidence, conclusive evidence, of either..

    One common joke has emerged on the Twitters: NASA found astronaut Mark Watney. Watney is the name of the fictional astronaut stranded on Mars in the movie THE MARTIAN.

    While people are in a frenzy with speculation, a part of me thinks this will be just be a ho-hum news conference with little information rendered.

    I hope I’m wrong, but that seemingly has happened before with earth shattering news.

    The most exciting space story of the year, minus the rodents on Mars images offbeat sites find, has been Pluto and the ever changing way we view that non planet planet. I think life on Mars or evidence of past life would far dominate Pluto..

    We will see Monday.

  • ‘The design of the habitat – carried out in collaboration with industrial and academic partners – envisions a robust 3D-printed dwelling for up to four astronauts constructed using regolith – the loose soil and rocks found on the surface of Mars,’ it said.The settlement on Mars will be constructed by an array of pre-programmed, semi-autonomous robots prior to the eventual arrival of the astronauts. The habitat will be delivered in two stages prior to the arrival of the astronauts. First, the semi-autonomous robots select the site and dig a 1.5 metre deep crater, followed by a second delivery of the inflatable modules which sit within the crater to form the core of the settlement.
