Andrew Getty — grandson of J. Paul Getty — sank an estimated $4 million to $6 million of his own fortune into the horror film, which he obsessed over right up until his death in 2015.

Now released in the U.S. available on VOD and DVD, the psychological horror stands out in no small part because of its somewhat protracted production (almost 15 years), and also its director: a Getty oil heir who died at age 47 before seeing the film completed, becoming another chapter in his family’s tragic history.

The story may seen standard genre fare: a mentally challenged boy has his dreams haunted by demonic creature who orders him to embark on a murderous rampage, collecting the bodies in his basement.

But for Andrew Getty — grandson of J. Paul Getty — his first and only feature wasn’t just a passion project; it was something borne from his own powerfully twisted nightmares.

A conservative radio host whom President Donald Trump has credited with being instrumental to his upset victory claims he was assaulted outside a California restaurant Tuesday night.

Michael Savage, the 74-year-old host of the nationally syndicated talk radio show Savage Nation, was dining solo at Servino Ristorante in Tiburon, with his toy poodle, Teddy, keeping him company, when another patron allegedly began taunting him by saying, ‘weener, weener.’

The heckler was apparently referring to Savage’s legal name, Michael Alan Weiner.

As Savage was heading out the door, the verbal abuse allegedly turned physical when the jeerer knocked the septuagenarian to the ground, according to the talk show host’s attorney, Daniel Horowitz.

When another diner tried to step in between the brawlers, he was punched in the face, Horowitz told the Mercury News.

Savage’s beloved 12-year-old pooch also got shoved after getting caught in the middle of the scuffle.

The disturbance at the Italian restaurant at a shopping center on Main Street has been confirmed by the Tiburon Police Department.

When police officers arrived at the scene at around 8.25pm Tuesday, they found that Savage and his attacker had each placed the other under citizen’s arrest.

IFILM REPORTS

That first piece of news comes our way via Variety’s Justin Kroll, who took to Twitter to report that Reeves is working on War For the Planet of the Apes until the end of June, confirming earlier reports from Mark Hughes at Forbes and Sean Gerber of the Batman News podcast. That means The Batman won’t even begin production until 2018 at the earliest, which means that the rumored 2018 release date is impossible.

FRIGHTFUL FLIGHT FIRE

During a flight from Beijing, China, to Melbourne, Australia, a passenger was sleeping when suddenly her face began to feel hot.

About two hours into the flight, the woman’s headphones exploded, burning her face and singeing her hair, according to a press release published on Tuesday by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

“As I went to turn around I felt burning on my face. I just grabbed my face which caused the headphones to go around my neck,” the unidentified woman said in a statement. “I continued to feel burning so I grabbed them off and threw them on the floor. They were sparking and had small amounts of fire.”

Images show the woman’s cheek and lips covered in soot and charred pieces of hair along the top of her head.

The press release says flight attendants were already pouring water on the headphones before the woman could begin stamping the fire out.
