    This report from the weekend:

    In Australia, Bieber rented a swanky house and Cameron MacDonald, the Mosman property owner, was allegedly left with a huge cleanup project, according to the report.

    On Friday, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Bieber left an unpleasant aroma wafting through the plush premises and it had to be professionally “de-odorised.”

    The newpaper’s source said the cleaning was proceeding, including the removal of the dreadful smell.

    The biggest smell, reports say: Pot. Word has been around for years that Biebs like the herb.. Apparently the party went overboard in the hotel.

    Bieber, for those who may forget, is also a shape shifter. In the past week we were entertained by the stories of ‘at least 100 fans’ seeing Biebs shape shift right before their eyes into a horrid lizard-boy. Something, we are told, he also did during a court hearing. Fox News even has the footage of his eyes turning back and forth from human to reptilian..

    But he appears to be a very stinky reptilian.. one who leaves the remnants of his passage long after he leaves the hotel.

    And for those who ponder why I continuously cover Bieber. I have for years–since the inception of the little runt as a matter of fact. It’s fun. He is not going away. And my Bieber fever has yet to break.

    Scientists have located an impact crater linked to powerful tsunamis that swept across part of ancient Mars.

    The team believe an asteroid triggered 150m-high waves when it plunged into an ocean thought to have existed on northern Mars three billion years ago.

    Lomonosov crater in the planet’s northern plains fits the bill as the source of tsunami deposits identified on the surface.

    Details were outlined at the 48th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference.

    AP report: In a proposal that has riled some folks in Tennessee, including a very distant relative of the nation’s 11th president, some state lawmakers want to move Polk’s body to what would be its fourth resting place in the nearly 170 years since he died of cholera.

    The plan is to exhume Polk’s remains and those of his wife, Sarah, from their white-columned tomb on the grounds of the state Capitol in Nashville and take them about 50 miles to his father’s home, now known as the James K. Polk Home and Museum, in Columbia. A vote on the resolution could come as early as Monday.

    Teresa Elam, who says she is a seventh-generation great-niece of the childless Polk, called the whole idea “mortifying.”

    “I got so upset about it because they’re going to take these bodies of these fine, wonderful people and bring them down to Columbia and put them on display to make money,” she said.

    Backers of the resolution, including Sen. Joey Hensley, a Republican whose district includes the museum, have argued that Polk’s tomb is in an out-of-the-way spot on the Capitol grounds and that he deserves better.

    Polk never had a chance while alive. And in death remains as unlucky..

    The weird mystery continues.. this video called ‘Jack’ was loaded to Youtube a few weeks ago.. it is under the account name aetbx

    The channel gained fame in 2015 when it uploaded this strange compilation of weird sounds and images:

    When it was released, it caused a surge of fear and online chatter about the meaning.. terrorism? Disease? …just a hoax to scare?

    To some, the scariest thing that happened since the video was released in May 2015 was the election of Donald Trump..

    The newest video, featuring the same binary code numbers and then a series of images seemingly from the same location, is not yet getting as much attention but … in the time of viral videos, most likely will.

    The consensus on the original video is that the maker is from Poland.. 
    The newest? …unknown..

    BUT.. but but.. one interesting thing to note: There is an advertisement that plays briefly before the NEWEST video named ‘Jack’ plays.. which implies someone running the account is attempting to get a little profit. So.. our mystery Polish citizen making creepy videos is more normal than anyone thought..

    Research published last year showed that removing the cells using a genetic trick caused mice to live 20% longer on average. The latest paper is the first to show that ageing can not only be delayed by removing senescent cells – but potentially reversed.

    In the study, published in the journal Cell, scientists used a compound designed to knock senescent cells out of their state of suspended animation, towards cell death.

    People have a goal that they want to live forever.. .that they want to ensure their lifespan meets or exceeds others.. that death forgets them.

    We are constantly trying to spare ourselves of the final confrontation between life and death..  It’s the ultimate fear we all have. We don’t speak of it much.. we would much rather say we are afraid of spiders or heights. But it’s death. We are afraid the spider will kill us, or that we will fall from a building.

    This article about purging the old cells can bring hope for those who want to try living longer? But … it doesn’t answer one conundrum: What happens when the spider bite kills your or the fall off a building splats you like a bug? ….death still wins in the end.

    In a statement, North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said: “The Korean People’s Army will reduce the bases of aggression and provocation to ashes with its invincible Hwasong rockets tipped with nuclear warheads and reliably defend the security of the country and its people’s happiness in case the US and the South Korean puppet forces fire even a single bullet at the territory of the DPRK.”

    North Korea has sparked international fury by launching four missiles into the Sea of Japan, not long after the alleged assassination of Kim’s brother Kim Jong-nam.

    Kim Jong-un is believed have fired up an H-Bomb factory in North Korea in a bid to produce a nuclear weapon 14-times more powerful than their previous test.

    Author Max Lackin writes in part,

    Get Out subverts the home invasion genre’s classics like Friday the 13th and Scream—here, the menace is what’s already residing inside the white suburban house—while going further. Its first scene, of a young black man out at night alone walking through suburbia, goes from a feeling of unease to something deeply sinister with the appearance of a car that stalks him. “When this man anxiously looks for a way out, the scene grows discordantly disturbing because you may, as I did, flash on Trayvon Martin,” wrote Manhola Dargis in the New York Times.

    And more..

    “Social thriller” is Peele’s nomenclature, but it’s a good descriptor of the swell of recent films that wear horror’s cowl loosely, masking their progressive messaging just beneath genre makeup. The class commentary of The Purge franchise is more emphatic, but heavy-handedness doesn’t make its point any less true. Set in a near future in which a national holiday of state-sanctioned anarchy has yielded record-low crime and a one-percent unemployment rate, it’s a dystopia masquerading as utopia, thanks to a few hours of cathartic bloodletting—and a warning about where a few missteps could land us. The first installment came out in 2013, when the heft of the monthly unemployment rate carried weight.

    IT FOLLOWS was also a societal commentary.. the overriding sense of dread came less from the invisible sexual monster but more the poverty and desolation in Detroit..

    While I’d agree that GET OUT was social commentary, I am not sure it is truly about Trump.. same with PURGE ELECTION YEAR, this was released before Trump’s win. That said, the movies seem relevant ..

    One point that seems to be missed–and one I stress all of the time, hence my study of horror movies–horror has always been social commentary. FRIDAY THE 13th was not just about teenage dreams being slashed, but actually the religious right that rose during the Reagan years.. Other films, like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, were all about race relations..  and even the SAW films were a response to the torture and warfare of the post 9/11 years..

    Movies have gone there before..and they will again. To be truly effective they need to have somewhat concealed.. somewhat overt. A mixture of both succeeds on all audience levels.
