    Tick talk

For those in tick-prone areas of the United States, people are reporting that something big has changed … more ticks than normal. Reports of ‘boxes of ticks’ being dropped off on farms.. Dogs and people covered from knees down with dozens just from a quick walk in grass..

Numbers now prove that something may be very different this year..

Tick bites are sending Americans to the emergency room at the highest rate in nearly a decade, according to new CDC data.

During the second week of April, 71 out of every 100,000 emergency room visits were for tick bites — more than double the usual average of about 30 per 100,000, said the agency, which said this year’s numbers match data from 2017.

Oh … and on those boxes of tickets?

A once-rare allergy that can cause severe reactions hours after eating red meat is dramatically rising across the United States, according to preliminary findings by researchers at VCU Health and Virginia Commonwealth University.

The condition, known as alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), is typically linked to bites from the lone star tick and is increasingly recognized as a growing health concern in many regions of the country. Different types of ticks cause the syndrome in other parts of the world.

The findings, presented last year at the American College of Gastroenterology’s 2025 annual scientific meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, show a 100-fold increase in positive test results for alpha-gal antibodies between 2013 and 2024. While these results are preliminary, the study represents one of the largest real-world analyses of AGS to date.

  • The family of He-Man’s creator is looking for help

The family of He-Man’s creator is looking for help

TMZ was the first to report this really tragic news yesterday.

Roger Sweet — the toy designer who created the He-Man character for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in the 1980s — is suffering from dementia, and according to his wife, he’s unable to afford the necessary care.

Marlene Sweet, who has been married to Roger for nearly 40 years, launched a GoFundMe to help with the $10,200-a-month bill for Roger’s memory care facility. According to reports, he took a pretty bad fall at the age of 91, and dementia was already complicating the situation.

Anyone who has been connected to this disease or has seen it in their own family knows the pain, the tribulation, and the long wind of dementia blowing through the minds of people with Alzheimer’s. It’s very unfortunate. Very sad. And in this case, it feels even sadder because of the amount of joy his creation of He-Man brought to a few generations of people.

This is on the Go Fund Me:

My husband, Roger Sweet, is the creator of HE-MAN and MASTERS of the UNIVERSE. He was a toy designer at Mattel for over 15 years. Roger designed and named the original He-Man character, and worked for years with other designers to create all the other characters and playsets that enthralled kids for so many years – and still do today!

Over the years Roger was invited to and attended multiple COMICON conventions. He always loved talking about HE-MAN and MASTERS with all the fans! I was able to accompany him to several, and it was fun to see him interacting with HE-MAN fans.

We have been married for nearly 40 years. When we got married, the designers in the HE-MAN group “built” us a plaster wedding cake, with “HE-MAN TAKES MARLENE FOR HIS BRIDE” written on the side, and HE-MAN dressed for a wedding (with his bride holding all the weapons) for the cake topper! Very clever guys!!!

Roger is now nearly 91 years old and sadly has dementia. His illness has continued to progress, and I have done all I can to take care of his needs at home. He recently went for a walk and returned much later than usual and very tired. I discovered terrible bruising on his side and much disorientation, and when asked what happened he did not recall falling and getting this injury. The doctor sent him to the ER, and after 4 hours of tests they discovered he had two brain bleeds along with the massive bruising on his side. He was admitted to the ICU where he stayed for 3 days, then 4 more days in the main hospital, sleeping most of the time and continuing to be very disoriented, along with refusing to stay put and trying to go walking about. The doctors consider him a high risk for falls and say he must use a walker, considering the dementia and brain bleeds, but he says he does not need it and continues to walk around in his confused state.

They decided he must live in a Memory care facility, where he can be monitored and safe. He is now at our chosen care facility and is settling in. He has only been there a few days and his mental decline is sadly continuing. It is devastating to see this happening. Unfortunately these care facilities are not covered by Medicare, and the cost for a patient in his condition is $10,200 a month, well above our monthly income.

So I am reaching out to all the HE-MAN fans for help with these bills. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will ease the burden of this new expense.

Sweet’s design work helped shape an entire era of toys and animation that still resonates with fans today.
The He-Man fan base is pretty strong. Perhaps they’ll step up and assist in this case because of the amount of joy this man brought into their lives.

The only thing we can do right now is hope and pray that the family finds some relief — and some peace — during what has to be an incredibly difficult time.

Mysterious spikes in Earth’s ‘heartbeat’ are “scrambling human brains”

The UK Daily Mail is promoting an article about thr Schumann resonance. Spikes and alterations have been getting noticed for several months now .. People have claimed its having an effect on their personal situation along with the planet itself.

On Thursday, MeteoAgent reported that Earth’s Schumann resonance was still registering as high because of a moderate solar flare that had caused Earth’s magnetic field to become unsettled.

Scientists track these disturbances using an index that measures how much the planet’s magnetic field is being shaken by space weather.

The scale runs from zero to nine, with zero meaning calm conditions and anything above five indicating a geomagnetic storm that can disrupt satellites, power grids and radio signals…

YOU CAN READ THE FULL STORY HERE..

It would be intersting know if you have had weird experiences of spikes in your own energy field over the previous several months ..

  • “Mystery virus” hitting Cuba very hard

“Mystery virus” hitting Cuba very hard

High fevers, red spots, peeling skin, swollen joints, vomiting and diarrhea are among symptoms crippling the island’s population – but Cubans have no idea what they are suffering from.

This week the Canadian government announced health screenings and quarantine of up to seven days for those coming back from the country.

And in December, Spain told its citizens to stay away from Cuba due to a “serious epidemic”.

Known just as “the virus” to many, reports suggest one third of the Cuba’s population has been infected – and the British Medical Journal described the “surge” as the country’s most serious crisis in recent decades.

In areas like Camagüey and Holguín, cemeteries have reportedly been overwhelmed.

Three months after the disease spread across the island, the Cuban government recognised the crisis as an epidemic.

But the regime still refused to declare a national health emergency.

The disease has been called a type of “combined arbovirus” – where people are infected with multiple viruses at the same time and it becomes difficult to diagnosis.

  • The life and death of Rockin Richie

The life and death of Rockin Richie

Let’s talk about Rockin’ Richie. If you were one of the folks who followed him on TikTok, you know who I mean. And if not, let me fill you in a bit. Rockin’ Richie wasn’t some guy who set out to be an influencer. He ended up in that role because he was dealing with stage 4 colon cancer and decided to share his journey, his choices, and his struggles with the world. And yeah, a lot of people followed along.

After many of us following this journey we have come to a close. He has now succumbed to his Earthly fate, a few rumors have persisted for days since his last video but his brother went on Tiktok to announce this to his followers..

There was controversy wit this social media feed.. Richie talked about alternative treatments.. stuff that wasn’t the usual medical route. He was trying a mix of diet changes, water cleanses, and homeopathic approaches that didn’t have the backing of mainstream medicine. And when he talked about putting GoFundMe money into a trust fund for his daughter, some people got really suspicious. They started accusing him of faking the whole thing just to get money, which was tough to watch unfold.

But here’s the thing, Richie was a real person going through a brutal journey. And yes, it was his body, his choice. He decided to fight cancer his way, even if a lot of people, including doctors and nurses, might have wished he’d gone a more traditional route.

We all sort of went on that experimental path with him by watching his updates. He even did a Livestream a couple of months ago where he went to a doctor in real time, hoping to hear good news that his tumor had shrunk from these alternative treatments. Instead, he got the devastating news that the tumor had grown. It was heartbreaking for everyone watching, but Richie stuck to his chosen path.

On that note, there is also some commentary on us as people who followed him. He wanted to eventually come up with his own book and YouTube channel to talk about how he beat cancer. The doctors of course told him he wouldn’t, and he didn’t. But in the common threads on social media many people who supported him continued supporting his desire to do alternative treatments, which in hindsight perhaps was a seemingly rotten thing to do. He just needed medicine but instead many in his fan base, loyal to the end, was encouraging him to avoid that. Just because it’s social media, doesn’t mean it’s all fake…

Maybe some people think that was foolish, and maybe others respect it as his personal choice. Either way, he fought his fight the way he wanted to, in the end.

Now he’s at peace.. whatever peace means, wherever we go after this life. And I bet deep down, even the people who disagreed with his treatment goals were probably rooting for him, because cancer is something we all wish we could see beaten for good.

So, may Rockin’ Richie rest in peace. We might not all agree on the path he took, but we can respect that he chose to share his journey and fought as hard as he could.

  • Cue the pun: Monkeys business

    Cue the pun: Monkeys business

LoRemember a couple of years ago in Danville, Pennsylvania, when that truck full of monkeys crashed and they got loose for several days? Those monkeys were supposedly carrying some kind of virus, and the whole town was on edge while they ran around before finally being caught. Wild times.

Well, it’s happening again, this time in Mississippi.

Authorities there say several monkeys “have been destroyed,” but three are still on the loose after a truck carrying them crashed on Tuesday.

At first, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department posted on Facebook that the rhesus monkeys were carrying Hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID, and were considered aggressive toward humans … meaning anyone handling them needed to wear protective gear.

But later, the sheriff’s office clarified those comments with a statement from Tulane University, confirming the monkeys were not infected after all.

Tulane University says they’ll be sending a team tomorrow to collect the remaining monkeys still in cages.

As of right now, police say three monkeys are still on the loose.

  • Aliens on the senate floor.

    Aliens on the senate floor.

Sen. John Kennedy, the well-known and outspoken senator who has provided the internet with countless memes and offbeat committee-room moments, has done it again. This time, it was during a speech about radioactive shrimp from Walmart.

With his trademark flair, Kennedy brought out a giant cardboard photo of the alien from the movie Alien. At one point, he even joked that we might become the alien ourselves if we ate radioactive shrimp. But then, in classic Kennedy fashion, he pivoted to a serious note. And no matter your political party, he had a point.

Countries like the United Kingdom and China do a much better job inspecting their food imports than the United States does. Kennedy reminded us that while “radioactive shrimp from Indonesia” sounds absurd, it’s not isolated. Since that frozen shrimp recall, more recalls have popped up—cooked shrimp, shrimp cocktail—across stores like Walmart and Kroger nationwide.

Kennedy didn’t mince words: it’s unconscionable that our system lets this happen. The isotope found in the shrimp isn’t some minor contaminant—it’s dangerous, deadly even. And the truth is, this probably won’t be the last time something like this happens.

So yes, we got the meme-worthy image of an alien propped up on the Senate floor. But behind the humor, there’s a serious conversation we should be having about food safety in America.

  • Black-and-blue Donald

    Black-and-blue Donald

There is high drama today surrounding the health of the president. The 79-year-old commander-in-chief, Donald Trump, has been spotted several times with strange bruising on his hand. Last week, he appeared to be using white makeup to cover the marks. But during a signing ceremony in the Oval Office today, the dark black-and-blue bruising was clearly visible once again — the same type of discoloration that has now been observed multiple times. News outlets, including the Drudge Report, have elevated this to top-story status.

For those following the paranormal angle, there’s been a wave of chatter on TikTok. Several self-proclaimed psychics claimed they were in communication with spirits who warned that August 23rd would be a “dark day” for the President. Well, it’s now August 24th — the day has passed with no catastrophe. Unless, of course, you interpret “darkness” as the black-and-blue bruising on his right hand.

Either way, the questions about Trump’s health remain. Many will continue to watch closely as speculation grows, not only about the mysterious hand bruising but also about ongoing reports of swelling in his legs and other unexplained physical changes.

As this story develops, the speculation will only deepen — whether you’re looking at it through the lens of politics, health, or even the there are normal aspects of entities telling us what will happen during in current events.

The latest outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Central Harlem has killed three people so far and sickened at least 73 others, as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the New York City Health Department.

It typically spreads when people inhale mist containing Legionella bacteria, which can grow in buildings’ water-cooling tanks, making it a longtime scourge for New York City.

City health officials say they have taken steps to control the outbreak but are still urging anyone experiencing the flu-like symptoms associated with Legionnaires’ disease to seek medical treatment. The current outbreak is affecting ZIP codes 10027, 10030, 10035, 10037 and 10039 and the surrounding areas.
