The Keystone State may start growing peaches by 2100

According to a new report quietly released by the Pennsylvania Climate Change Advisory Council may sound some alarm bells — of course the fact it was quietly released means perhaps that those alarm bells may not be as loud as they should be..
According to the study, greenhouse gases are mostly to blame for temperature increases since 1950–greenhouse gases from humans.. Even more: After 2050, many things will become……uncertain..?
Marc McDill is from the Penn State, and is an expert in forestry. He said that by 2050,  the Keystone State’s climate will be similar to Virginia. By 2100? GEORGIA..
Just imagine by then what Georgia will be like!?
“The report says greenhouse gases from humans are mostly to blame for temperatures that already have climbed since about 1950. It predicts still more temperature increases but uncertainly over rainfall. The temperature changes could have a significant impact on Pennsylvania’s wildlife, rivers, lakes, and aquatic ecosystems, but the economic impact is likely to be focused on certain industries, with a small effect on the overall economy and to public health. For example, more people may die from heat waves, but fewer will die from extreme cold. There may be more extreme weather in different seasons, including droughts and floods. Christina Simeone, chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Climate Change Advisory Committee, said the delay in releasing the report and the lack of a news release are part of a pattern. She is with the environmental group Penn Future.
The future’s so bright, you’ll have to wear shades..
There has actually been a re-invigoration of opinion that climate change is not happening.. The Arctic ice is expanding.. things seem to be on hold. Lately the alarmists on climate have looked like they are barking up the wrong tree ….
Sure would be nice if climate didn’t change… but…..

Promoting horror movies in the modern age

I don’t know if the CARRIE remake will be good or not.. But the marketing for the movie surely is.. This amazing video was a hidden camera advertisement taken in a coffee shop in NYC without people knowing it.. Though I most likely would have been as alarmed by them at the CARRIE-like power this coffee patron had, I think it’s amazing that they thought of this..

CARRIE MARKETING, 101.. This method should be taught in schools across the world:

Strange times: Air Force General discharged of nuclear duty

Jim Miklaszewski and Matthew DeLuca, from NBC NEWS, are reporting today that a top general in charge of nuclear ballistic missiles has been relieved of his command due to loss of trust..

The term being described to General Michael Carey’s firing: “Personal misbehavior”..

NBC NEWS reports this:

“Air Force officials said Maj. Gen. Michael Carey was fired for “personal misbehavior” while on temporary duty at an unspecified location outside his usual command. The officials would not describe the behavior, other than to say that it did not involve any sexual improprieties, drug use, gambling, or criminal conduct. Carey oversaw the 20th Air Force, with a total of 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles at three locations across the U.S. An Air Force statement said that Carey was relieved from command “due to a loss of trust and confidence in his leadership and judgment.” The statement goes on to say that “the allegations are not related to operational readiness, inspection results, nor do they involve sexual misconduct.””

And of course there is a conspiracy angle to the firing: Alex Jones’ INFOWARS.COM explores that angle..

Where the UFOs are.. At least the reports of them.

Interesting news.. The National UFO ALERT Rating System updated New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida to Alert 3 for highest reported in September 2013..

Keep in mind, of course, that these areas were also prime places to see the asteroids and meteors during the same month..

Also keep in mind: Drones.

I don’t know what will be a “UFO” in the future. .there are so many things that a UFO could be–and most likely, many times, not an alien craft..

But the states where this is occurring is interesting nonetheless..

The past, present, and future Olympic games: The Rings of Hitler to the radiation of Tokyo

POOTIE POOT THE FLAMER

Rachel Maddow used her bully pulpit on MSNBC to discuss the upcoming winter Olympics in Russia.. She is making a stand (and diametrically opposed to NBC in a marketing sense since that is the network that has the Olympic coverage)..  The stand is based on Russia’s treatment of gay people within the country–and the government’s plan to take children from gay parents.. Maddow asks–perhaps morally acceptable–the question: What are we saying by NOT boycotting the Sochi Olympics..

The history of the Olympics has been fraught with failure, catastrophe.. controversy.. violence.. bombings.. hatred.. victory.. loss… statements on war, race, and most recently, lots and lots of sex in the Olympic village.. In China, we wondered if the air pollution was going to be so bad that our athletes would just die. Then China decided to control the weather.

In early years, some nations were not invited.
The Munich massacre took place at the 1972 summer Olympics..
Jimmy Carter issued a boycott order in 1980 because the summer games were held in the USSR.
In 1984, the Soviets, in turn, boycotted the Los Angeles games..
North Korea boycotted in 1988..
The Atlanta games were bombed in 1996.
And of course, 1994 featured the strange ice skating affair with then skater now boxer Tonya Harding and then star now fallen star Nancy Kerrigan ..
A strange set of games, these games were..

2014 will be no different. As Rachel Maddow pointed out last night, the Olympic flame actually went out on the run in Russia.

How big of a controversy this will be is yet to be determined.. However, any observer who doesn’t know a thing about global affairs can realize that, with Snowden and other issues this year, the Russian/American ‘restart’ button has yet to be pushed. While no one is seriously talking about boycotting the Putin games over gay issues, perhaps it’s an idea that will catch on with time?

THE FIRST FLAME

But what we know is this..The Olympic rings were designed by Baron Pierre de Coubertin …but they have very strong ties to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi propaganda machine in the pre-World War II world.. In 2004, the AP reported something many already knew and have known since .. Those famed Coubertin rings were popularized them.. Also a Hitler initiative: That now famed Olympic torch, the one that was went out recently in Russia…

We forget easily with time.. Hindsight sometimes isn’t 20/20, but instead a big foggy haze of forgetfulness.

And while past sins certainly should not condemn future generations, nor should bad leaders and occult ideas stop future Olympic games, it’s my long-thought opinion that there is some kind of curse, or some kind of dark shroud, that persists over all the Olympics.. Maybe it’s the constant war on earth, or the convergence of so many diverse people that have governments that distrust each other..  Maybe it’s the large security apparatus that stymies the freedom of expression in the city where the games are held.
There is pageantry.
There is prestige..
And there is a highly competitive nature to the games.
But with all the games, each time another nation dares to host them, something else occurs with them.. something else filled with controversy..

And by 2020, the Tokyo games may be glowing in anticipation……

Ison lives: On that ‘comet of the century’..

Comet ISON is doing quite well, actually..
Some thought by now there’d be lots of waters doused on the fires of hope that our early winter night sky would be alive with the signs of a comet from the beginning of the universe.. but the latest images of our soon-to-be-nighttime-friend show a comet doing quite fine.
This is an image from October 8 2013 taken by the Schulman 0.8 Telescope at the University of Arizona:

Ison looks healthy to me..
The next test for the survival of this comet: The sun. It’s going to have a close encounter on November 28, 2013.. Chances are it will live.. chances are it will die. No one is quite sure at this time what happens on November 29. The only sure bet that we have been told (over and over again) is that Earth has no chance of danger from Ison..
Although the most recent month has been alive with asteroids and meteors, and lights in the sky across the world.
But Ison? Don’t worry, the collective ‘they’ says..
And I am not.
But I’d sure enjoy seeing a nice evening light show.. I certainly hope Ison lives to tell about its encounter with the solar flare maker.. And just picture new fallen snow on the landscape, Christmas lights twinkling .. and a comet’s bright tail visible to the naked eye in the night sky. Now THAT would be beautiful over the little town  of Bethlehem, or whatever town you inhabit.

So here’s hoping Ison makes it!
It’s a big universe. But we are rooting for you.

Yes this site looks different today

Your eyes do not deceive you.. the HORROR REPORT has changed its style .. for the first time in over a decade, mind you..
I debated for some time as to whether I should update the look.. Some may say it’s not modern (and yes, if you followed another site I once had maybe you’ll recognize the design)..
Some housekeeping points for the good of the disorder.

I’d love your thoughts, news links, questions, and most importantly at this moment, opinion about the ‘design’ of this site.. Better? Worse? Neither? Maybe I go ‘minimalist,’ as that seems to be (have been) the internet trend of the last ten minutes…

FREAKY FRIDAY: If BATMAN us boring, then you’re boring. And other news from the world

FRIDAY OCTOBER 11 2013
You may have noticed a bit of a change here.. The website is different, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. More on that later..
In the meantime: The happenings from the most happening place in the universe: Earth.
Soon we are going to miss the days when they only made us take our pants off..
TSA loudspeakers spoke up and say: STOP JOKING! Apparently travelers in Houston are going to be subjected to government messages over loudspeakers reminding them it’s inappropriate to make remarks or jokes concerning security–and if they exhibit their freedom of speech they could be subject to arrest.. This is the United States of America.
A new report from the Committee to Protect Journalists says that the United States press corps is afraid to report anything these days about Barack Obama.. The crackdown on leaks is only a portion of why the fear is there. From yes we can’t to ‘no we won’t.’ That’s the state of the American press ..
This is a very important story from CNN.. A whistleblower has been terminated for revealing some information that some didn’t want us to know.. Dr. Nalini M. Rajamannan was terminated in 2008 after reporting the use of non-FDA approved, experimental medical devices being implanted in patients without their knowledge.. Many patients, even today, do not realize that these devices have been implanted in their bodies.. (Maybe this could account for some of the strange devices that people claim aliens placed into them..?) Also amazing that this doctor was fired for telling..
A super-cyclone may not even be the proper word to descirbe Typhoon Phailin.. The massive weather system is half the size of India and it will be potentially a catastrophe for India..When the storm hits, it will be the equivalent strength of a Cat4 or 5 hurricane..
When Ariel Castro died, I questioned whether suicide was really to blame. And today it has been now revealed by medical professional that Castro MAY HAVE DIED during a sexual act..
A fascinating study on elephants concludes that they instinctively understand human gestures.. Elephants fascinate me, they always did.. And ever since I can remember, I was horrified to learn of how bad human beings actually treated the giant animals. For spectacle..circuses..for show. They are very intelligent animals (lots of animals actually are) … and I think humans need to realize the connection between all life is stronger than a simple circus show..
I have a friend who would probably agree with Quentin Tarantino.. he said that BATMAN is not an interesting character.. This is a direct insult to the fake man and hero I have loved since I was eight when my mother’s friend, Janet, brought me a pack of trading cards with bubble gum in and I loved BATMAN ever since.. Tarantino said that he didn’t really care about Affleck as BATMAN .. I do agree with Tarantino on one point: When asked who would have made the best actor to play BATMAN, he replied: Alec Baldwin in the 80’s. How true that is..
Abandoned Philadelphia prison ‘adds screams’ for Halloween.. It’s called the TERROR BEHIND THE WALLS at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia.. it’s called the nation’s largest haunted house outside of parks and amusement sites.. I have some serious concerns when real locations are made into haunted houses for profits. By biggest problem comes, also, from my home state of Pennsylvania: Pennhurst.. I wrote about Pennhurst back in September 2010, then expressing my revulsion that profiteers were going to made the site a haunted attraction. They have since done so.. This was the location of awful treatment of children–deaths occurred as well.. some believe it’s truly a haunted site simply because of the amount of torture that occurred there. And the worst of the worst occurred DURING OUR LIFETIME. It was only the end of the 20th century the events actually took place.. many people are still alive that had anything to do with the horrors of Pennhurst. At least the Eastern State Penn is long gone as a running facility. .But I still have a deep issue with making the locations of truly awful occurrences places where people willingly accept money and laugh in the face of reality.. And sadly, I’d venture to say most people who visit these locations have no knowledge of what really happened there–and if they do, maybe they are simply scoffing in the faces of true spirits that inhabit this plane of existence..
