    ART BELL EXISTS

And if you’re not listening to his program MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT, you’re missing out on a great chance to hear radio at its finest..

Art Bell posted this on Facebook tonight:

Ok, here is a report as I see it now. We have a damn good product, in my view easily the best product by a mile. We have quality programming, we have far better audio, we don’t whore the show out with infomercials, we have a small number of commercials, the RSS feed is up to Industry standard and the audio on it is awesome. We are continuing to get subs at 7.99 so all is well.

The only thing we need is to get the word out that we are here, most Don’t even know we exist, this is
changing but slowly, we need some way to get the word out faster, I know there are a lot of good thinkers here so any idea’s are welcome. Most people joining now we’re told by somebody and say something like Wow I thought Art was still in the Philippines. So at this point it’s just getting the word out that we exist.

    art-bell-w6obb-620x465I’ll do my part..

    He’s back in Pahrump..
He’s in the black of the night, broadcasting with a mysterious and reassuring voice..

He’s not George Noory. Noory has inherited Coast to Coast.
Bell is doing his own thing, saying no to advertisers who want to water down content.. Instead he is broadcasting from his home about aliens, ghosts, and Satan possessing callers on open line night.

    Listen up.

Be a time traveler..It’s really cheap considering what you’ll get.
And be a part of a new generation that gets to listen to radio the way it should be..

    IT’S MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT..
And it’s free to listen to live..
ABBA and other bumper music included.

The world is worse than ever? Consider some awful torture devices from antiquity before you render judgement

I had a discussion with someone today .. her point of view: The world is worse than ever. I countered.. and I stand by my point: The world is the same as it ever was. The only difference is now the filters are removed, the truth is out there.. and we know it all.

Case in point, perhaps, that proves me right: The ancient historical torture devices that we really, really came up with.

Human beings did this. Humans with brains.. Humans with emotions. And humans without compassion, obviously, in circumstances when they utilized the inhumane horrific devices.

    Worse than ever?
    Not even close..

The two that stand out to me:

During the Spanish Inquisition, this device would be used for torture and eventual death. The person would be placed on a triangular log and weights attached to their feet. They would be pulled downward by the weights as the sharp edge of the log slowly sliced them in half. YOU’RE WELCOME FOR THE NIGHTMARES.

    And..

The brazen bull was both inhumane and constructed almost entirely for the amusement of an audience. The person being executed was placed inside a hollow bull made out of bronze, which was then heated from beneath. The bull was constructed in such a way that the sounds of the victim were made to sound like bull noises instead of horrifying screams of a human being steamed alive.

USA POSTPONES MR ROBOT DUE TO VIRGINIA NEWS SHOOTINGS

USA postponed Wednesday night’s scheduled season finale of Mr. Robot in light of the murders that occurred live on air this morning in Virginia..  Timing is strange as usual in this world..
    THIS from USA:

The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robotcontains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time

It’s interesting to consider the amount of times that reality and fiction seem to intertwine so well together at the right moment..

    There are countless examples.
The one that came to mind almost immediately was the way BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER delayed GRADUATION DAY due to the Columbine killings..

The MR ROBOT set for Wednesday will now air on September 2..

Vester Lee Flanagan: The aftermath of the live media shooting

A local news station became the focal point of the entire planet today for a horrid reason..

Vester Lee Flanagan shot reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, dead live on air during a new story this morning.  Vicki Gardner, a woman from the Chamber of Commerce who Parker was interviewing, was also shot in the back but survived and is in stable condition..

Flanagan later went on to shoot himself.. He’s dead. He was a ‘human powder keg’ after the Charleston shooting. He went off ..

The emotions were real at the station. The toll it took on journalists as a whole was evident..

Not only was there live coverage of the shooting that aired across the CBS affiliate, but the killer also had a GoPro camera fixated on his horror while he perpetrated it. He posted it on social media.. the world was suddenly faced with a choice: Watch the video or look away..

A disgruntled former news reporter filmed himself executing two of his ex-coworkers as they shot a live television segment in Moneta, Virginia Wednesday morning. Above, the video taken by alleged gunman Vester Lee Flanagan, who went by the name Bryce Williams

I saw the linked video on Drudge today.. And Infowars.. and various locations. I decided to glance at the video one time. I decided, after watching it, it would be the final time in my life I see it. The heartache and heartbreak in the aftermath is true..

The emotion I felt watching the video was nothing but disturbed.. disturbed that someone can do this, equally sickened that so many now will know this reporter and camera man not for being humans, but for being marked targets of a murderer.

The Twitter handle “Bryce Williams” was run by Flanagan, and he used it today to brag about the crime he just committed.

After fleeing the scene, Flanagan allegedly wrote these series of tweets after killing Parker and Ward Wednesday morning in Moneta, Virginia

The world has endless madness. Today it was on display ..

This entire situation reminded me, at least a bit, of the famed Pennsylvania politician Bud Dwyer, who took his own life on the air while the entire state watched life news conference of his political statement, and then on air suicide. That was a shocking event that changed the psyche of those who saw it live.

This will be, as well, for those who saw it. In the social media universe we live in, the deaths will play out over and over again with each YouTube upload and Twitter feed that shameless features the grotesque video.

This event is tragic.. There are lots of tragic events.
But something especially awful occurs when a quaint and peaceful news report is interrupted by horror and madness. That is exactly what happened today.

Those who saw it live will not be able to forget it.

  • Let’s sing the song of the century.. Summer going.. Wake me up when September ends

Let’s sing the song of the century.. Summer going.. Wake me up when September ends

I listened to Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT and 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN albums over the past few mornings during some driving to work.. This is a traditional time for me to break out the old 2004 song WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS, and with the more recent inclusion of other tunes from the 21st CENTURY album, the commute ends up being quite short and loud.. While I did not generate a raucous singing career in my life yet, I certainly can pretend I am in a concert setting belting out the lyrics of the songs in my car…

What struck me this year, however, was that I considered just how long ago each of these albums were released.. how much has changed since AMERICAN IDIOT, and yet how much is the same.

At the time we listened to Billy Joe sing us a song of a century in 2004, we were in the midst of a daily fight about war and terrorism. In 2015, so many years on, it really has not changed. The villain of the century was killed, we’re told, by Navy Seals. Though Osama Bin Laden lost the ability to scare us, part 2 of the horror movie was made: ISIS is very real. And their atrocities earn nightly newscasts an NC-17 rating..

Music is vital in my life. I desire songs that mean something. Increasingly, I don’t think they do.

As a matter of fact, in my opinion, AMERICAN IDIOT was the last album that carried with it a big picture message that went beyond the typical tunes of love and carnal desires. The songs, each one, carried a spirit and lively message about death and destruction, terrorism and what it means for the future of American freedom. Or the lack thereof.. It was the protest songs of the century.

The album also meant a lot to me. I was listening to it when I got into a car wreck. I was listening to it when I drove my wife to the hospital when she was in labor with our son. I was listening to it afterwards.. I was listening to it during election days.. and I listen to it every year, as August ends and September begins..

September and October are my favorite months of the year. I love the weather and the seasonal changes that come as summer fades and the smells of autumn begin to fill the atmosphere on top of earth’s crust. School buses are back in season…for better or worse, another class of 15 is getting ready to fill the earth and populate it with employment—they hope.. and the class of ’18 is also beginning today too.. They are getting prepped to join a brave new world of technology and potentially life saving changes. Or employment ending robotics that will ensure a lifetime of dependency and thoughtless virtual reality.

The future is beginning now. It is now.

    As September begins.

This September is going to be fascinating. There are conspiracy theories over blood moons, the Pope will make an historic visit to the United States, and dire warnings are sounding across the Internet about asteroids striking Puerto Rico and beginning the phases of destruction of the planet. Pretty weighty stuff. NASA has addressed the asteroid rumors twice now on record, stating unequivocally that there is no danger or disaster looming. Each time they say this, conspiracy sites link and post their words in verbatim not as proof the asteroid won’t strike, but as evidence that NASA is continuing to lie.

We will not know until September ends.. By the time October begins, the Pope will be in the Vatican and the moon will not be bloody. Or all the dire words of prophets and internet bloggers will be true.

In that case, I’ll be blasting my favorite songs and melodies that have meant something in my life.. like Billy Joel, Green Day, and ABBA.

A super trooper.. American idiot..piano man. All the songs of my century.

Wake me up when September ends.

  • Art Bell: “I am going for the fun, life is short”

Art Bell: “I am going for the fun, life is short”

In a message tonight posted on Facebook and thoroughly discussed on Bellgab and other sites that follow Art Bell and the program MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT, the master of the macabre stated this, in full:

    MIDNIGHT IN THE DESERT

We have a decision to make and I think I have made it. We can either serve our listener’s and Time Traveler’s or Radio Stations but not both because the stations want more Commercials. I am not going to do that. If they want to carry the show we will let them offset it to a later time but we will Not add more Commercial minutes. So what we can give them is ratings because what we are doing is clearly better in every way then anything else out there. For this reason I have said no to several big stations. I could build another big Network but then I would have what I left because it became something I could not live with. Those who do not learn from their mistakes repeat them.

    Art

art-bell-w6obb-620x465Recently the price of the ‘time traveler’ cost went from $5 to $7..
The program can also boast high interest, and undoubtedly a huge turnout of listeners Monday through Friday when it airs on the Dark Matter Radio Network and several other affiliates that have picked up the program..

Bell has reinforced his original message, saying that he will not dump stations but also will not change the format of his program to meet the needs of advertisers–undoubtedly advertisers who want desperately to get their products on during the newest incarnation of Art Bell in broadcasting.

Midnight in the Desert has been acclaimed as some of the best material from Bell since the 1990s when he hosted Coast to Coast AM nightly with over ten million listeners. Under the reign of George Noory, Coast’s success has diminished greatly.

Those who have followed the Art Bell roller coaster will remember ups when he began a Sirius show and downs when he seriously quit it. This go around, Bell seems relaxed and is having fun. Last Friday night, his ‘made a deal with the devil’ open lines was some of the most entertaining radio in years.

The newest message showcases that Bell is going to do this. His way.

The perfect quote, from Bell himself, to summarize the noticeably calmer, cooler, and energized 70-year-old talk show king:

Here it is in a nutshell, I can do what is fun or profitable, I am going for the fun, life is short

    Ashley Madisonacide

This was bound to happen.. Reports are being published today that suicides in Texas have occurred as a result of the Ashley Madison hack and leak of users..

MORE from the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

San Antonio police captain Michael Gorhum, a 25-year veteran from the department, committed suicide last week after his email was leaked in a massive hack that exposed nearly 37 million email addresses on the Ashley Madison website, reports the International Business Times. The leaks included the users’ email addresses, phone numbers, payment information and stated sexual desires.

The repurcussions of the hacking and release of data are going to be reportable when it comes to issues like this.. But there will be countless tales never told in public venues. The people who hid their sexual desires are now in hiding, hoping the world doesn’t catch on that their emails and names are associated with the site.

Meanwhile, people are frantically searching not only other people’s email addresses, but quite often their own..

If there’s every a time Mashable deserves a good Smashable it’s right now

What is worse.. Breaking up with your girlfriend on an airplane for the passengers to hear? Snooping the entire time on the said couple and posting a minute by minute account on Twitter?

Or Mashable publishing every tweet in order to get clickbait on the social networks?
Perhaps some would call each act egregious. I’ll entertain the thought that Mashable should be the most ashamed of their actions..

“Black Monday” in China; Stocks drop largest since 2007, crude oil prices lowest in years.. US stocks expected to sharply fall

    The Chinese markets nosedived overnight..
While China hit occurred, then United States markets prepared for what is being called a ‘meltdown’ on major stations, such as CNBC..

    MORE..

Major reports call this ‘black Monday’ in China, with the Shanghai composite has closing 8.5 percent in the red. Stocks in China are now down 60% since June.

The latest chorus of crisis in Japan has happened even with state intervention.

This being reported by BLOOMBERG NEWS:

Worsening economic data and signs of capital outflows are undermining unprecedented government attempts to shore up the country’s $6 trillion stock market. While China said over the weekend it will allow pension funds to buy shares for the first time, a speculated cut in bank reserve ratios failed to materialize.

“This is a real disaster and it seems nothing can stop it,” said Chen Gang, Shanghai-based chief investment officer at Heqitongyi Asset Management Co. “If we don’t cut holdings ourselves, the fund faces risk of forced closure. Many newly started private funds suffered that recently. I hope we can survive.”

The European stock markets have continued last week’s negative trend, when 13 out of 18 western European markets lost 10 percent or more, with Germany’s DAX Index down 18 percent. London’s FTSE 100 index suffered its biggest weekly drop in 2015, slumping 5.2 percent.

Commodities are down across the board with Brent oil trading at $44.22 as of 08:20 GMT, which is a six-and-a-half-year low.

The Russian ruble has hit new lows against major currencies, dragged down by both weak oil and Chinese stocks. The Russian currency was trading near 71 rubles against the dollar and 81.40 rubles against the euro as of 08:22 GMT.

The world seemingly is reeling from the news, all this bad economic data. The train wreck may have just begun.

News early this morning: DOW FUTURES have fallen, first reported, 160 points. Then CNBC released this breaking news article minutes later saying that then futures are now down 330 points, with Wall Street prepping for a ‘meltdown’ this week..

This seems to culminate a huge mess of voices who, throughout this year, warned that the dog days of August would also see a runup to a war, and perhaps an economic crisis the likes of which has not been seen since 2008.. OR even worse, since 1929.

The news from China is dismal. The devaluations.. the explosions.. the mess of war talk from Asia, all the while crude oil prices dropping and Walmart losing business show how many things may be held together with duct tape and chicken wire.

China dropped. And investors got so angry, they did this: They captured the exchange chief (who was later released without action.)

  • Explosions and drills: The dogs of war in the dog days of August

Explosions and drills: The dogs of war in the dog days of August

This past week, China suffered from a massive explosion. Then another one.
This weekend, a US military base in Japan had a series of explosions..
Meanwhile, North Korea and South Korea are exchanging battle cries while the world waits–again–to see if the conflict will begin anew.

    And this..
Twenty-two vessels, 20 aircraft, 40 armored vehicles and 500 marines from Russia and China have begun the active phase of the ‘Joint Sea 2015 II’ drills in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok

There’s a chance things could be delayed or changed a bit, may be changes to the schedule of the drills due to typhoon Goin..
